This whole “building for the future” is nonsense because Saka, Smith Rowe and whoever else becomes world class will easily get bought out by other teams. This cycle happened when we had a young core of Fabregas, Nasri, Helb, Song, Clichy, Flamini, Van Persie. Each one were sold soon as they became really good. We should have got rid of these two when we finished 8th, got in Overmars along with a new manager who would of had money to spend on players.... Actually, our pre season was disastrous..... We had to get to the level where we left last season...... which didn’t happen...., as our primary drivers Saka and Odegaard joined late. That left Auba and ESR alone & arsenal goalless. That put more pressure on our defence which wasn’t ready as Luiz left. Also Holding had to be chosen before Mari on the left with Ben White on the right which didn’t happen & was a strategic error as well. We didn’t even have a proper RB and no Partey, which was the cause of few goals as well.

Edu lacks self awareness. You had time last year to fill in gaps in the starting 11 which you did not do. He only got 3 players. And out of those only 2 of them could impact on the starting 11. Now that he's faced with so much work he's whining about criticism being "inconsistent". He's the guy that palmed off last years window as a good window despite what it was lacking. He should have done his job last year and maybe he wouldn't be faced with this dilemma. Of course you'll be expected to get both depth and starting 11 quality this window that's not inconsistent. Finished 8th again you'll be expected to show intent to close down that gap not just lay down and die. They don't want the expectation to improve, because they don't care about improving they want fans to accept this crap, which tbf many are doing. These people think they have a right to unquestionable support where no one can criticise them, that's what they think support is. Said nothing of any real substance. You "believe" in the squad now but not enough to set any real targets. That makes 0 sense. Ownership has doomed us with these people.

Realistically Arsenal are going to finish mid table this year at best so might as well use this season to build foundations for future years and maybe try to get a run in the cup. I’m a Manchester United fan and constantly changing the manager and marquee signings didn’t work for us for years.

How can they trust the club at this point? Borussia Dortmund build for the future, but they seem to attract players far better than what Arsenal do. If Dortmund can find players like Haaland, Sancho, Bellingham, Lewandowski, Gundogan, Reyna... and RB Leipzig also have a great scouting network, why do Arsenal not identify those calibre of players?
