Eduard 1/72 Consolidated Liberator I "Riders in the Sky" I Full Build I

This is a full video build of Eduard's excellent re-box of Hasegawa's Liberator in 1/72 scale. The kit is tricky to find nowadays which is a shame because it contains quite a few RAF Coastal Command schemes.
My chosen scheme is BZ832 of 200 Squadron. In this particular aircraft, New Zealander F/O Lloyd Trigg won his and the squadrons only Victoria Cross, the most famous medal in the British and Commonwealth military..

A story of a pilot and crew who, in the face of adversity, continued to do what they were trained to do and paid the price with their lives. You've done them a justice and produced an excellent tribute to their gallantry via this superbly presented model. Super work, Tim!

My old man used to fly in these in 1945 as W/op and SE operator. BZ811, BZ806, BZ813 amongst others. Flew the Atlantic from Dorval to Manipur in KL473 Always been my favourite. Very nice build.

As a Kiwi it is nice to see this build. Grew up with the story of Trigg's VC being one of only 2 or 3 based entirely on accounts of the ememy. Recommended by the U-boat captain, and supported by the evidence of the U-boat crew. A nice build Tim.

My late dad was in that part of the world during ww2 his last posting was palestine with 78 squadron they switched from Halifax's to Dakotas for transport duties , dad was demobbed 47 , he was involved in the middle east air strike about not getting demobbed quickly enough thanks for jogging a memory cheers

More like eternally stupid and dead. I’m sure the captain who killed his crew with a foolhardy attack deserved to receive his wonderful medal posthumously. What did his crew get other than dead?

I think it would be a good future trend to replace the standard plastic landing gear on such high-end kits with metal landing gears, especially for models with a nose landing gear, which usually requires additional weight in the fuselage. Or to offerat least a cheaper kit variant with plastic parts and a more expensive one for ambitioned modellers. From my own experience I know that a broken landing gear is almost impossible to repair...

That’s a decent idea, the kit is quite heavy as you always overloads the weight to avoid tail sitting.

The captain of HMS Glow worm was awarded the VC after the war due to the testimony of the Captain of the German cruiser Admiral Hipper after the Glow worm's attack on it in 1940.

Testimonies from the enemy are rare but another stands out. HMS Glowworm is one instance. The destroyer sighted the German cruiser Hipper and attacked. After sustaining heavy damage she rammed the cruiser and inflicted serious damage. The German captain through diplomatic channels recommended the VC to Glowworm captain Lieutenant Commander Broadmead Roope. He received it posthumously. Anyway, I digress 😂 That’s a superb build. The finish is fantastic 👍🍺 A fine tribute.

@@TimsScaleModelling like everything else,it takes time,I fired everything from a .22 rifle,to a sterling smg,to the .303.the SLR and finally the SA80,got to fly in seaking helicopters,to hercules.travelled around Germany,got to Gibraltar.loved it
