Thank you Paul, I always enjoy your videos. I'm so happy to have learned much more about you since seeing your amazing work in Scale Modeler magazine. There's you and Shep Paine and that's about it in my book. You are a true master!! As I'm somehow north of 55 years old, I very much enjoy a well thought out kit. My patience for ill fitting construction is thin. I have gravitated to Tamiya kits especially 1/35th scale armor. However, I'm a WWII airplane lover at heart. I love those airplanes, but the building them is not as much fun as it used to be. The Tamiya 1/35th British Matilda is a nicely done kit. It's a favorite of my recent builds. It was a joy to put together.

I agree whole heartedly the Tamiya 1/48 WW2 aircraft are by far the easiest to build and come out beautifully they’re 20 years old but are still the standard for a nice relaxing aircraft build, the same goes for their armor. I’m just south of 55 and as the saying goes “I don’t have time to build sh**ty kits.

An honest Eduard review that outlines Eduard’s shortcomings (that Eduard builders universally encounter). Eduard promoters will never address these issues.

Hi! I had a feeling of deja vu. 🙂 Thank you anyway! This time I've noticed some aspects that escaped me when I watched the Special Hobby review. The kit is indeed a good representation of the real aeroplane. That's why it fully deserves its cigar!

This is how a model kit should be reviewed! Fantastic job Sir! The tip about the gun port blocks is genius and I will adopt it forthwith. I can't express how angry the comments in other 'reviews' about fit issues needing 'care and a little skill' make me, I suspect many have been put off a very enjoyable hobby by being burnt with a high-priced poorly fitting kit.

I love how you reference to Tamiya when a proper molding job is done. What I don't understand, why is it SO difficult for everyone else to follow? Since I have the Special Hobby {ED} kit, I won't further torture myself and purchase the "ED" edition. Hopefully soon, Tamiya will issue a MkII, along with a P-47"N" {both in 1/48th} and I can rejoice. Thanks Paul for Vol. II on the MkII

I imagine it's simply matter of technology and budget. Eduard is a boutique shop compared to Tamiya. Not to mention, Japanese manufacturers, especially Tamiya and Bandai simple seem to have some of the most advanced injection moulding technology at their disposal.
@dusanbolek80043 жыл бұрын
@@rancor1223 It is also the level of knowledge amassed after many years in the business. Tamiya is making plastic kits since 1960s, while Eduard is relative newcomer and learning takes some time.

and I believe its also the pride in manufacturing Japanese companies like Tamiya have. They don't do pretty good. It's done right or its not done. My personal observations about Eduard are exactly the same. There will be somethings about every kit that are spot on and well detailed and then there are other that a well experienced modeler will just look at it and say "why the heck did they do it that way?" I have over 45 years of building to fall back on so I can typically see the shortcomings and apply a proactive fix for them but why I am paying $50 plus dollars for a kit that has just as many issues as a much older kit I can pick up for $20 dollars? I love the subjects that Eduard has tackled in the last decade but it seem just about every kit has some sort of nasty surprise waiting for you. The engineering of the Tamiya P-38 kit that came out last year is absolutely amazing and even though its an expensive kit for 1/48 you feel like you got what you paid for. I almost never feel that way about an Eduard kit.

Always enjoy your videos Paul - but this one left me wondering exactly what the difference was between this video and your two previous videos on the same subject?
@scale-model-workshop3 жыл бұрын
About as much as the difference between the two kits. But some people will only be searching for the Eduard kit and miss the review.

Great work sir, as usual. 👍🏻 But I do feel Eduard are highly over-rated. Have had a couple of bad experiences and am avoiding them now. And then there is the weird new decals that are a total pain to use...

It always amazes me the fact that the videos of an absolute master craftsman like Mr. Budzik is so underappreciated. Not even 20K views and 700 likes while many rubbish modelers that hide their poor skills putting up a freak show with an offending ton of weathering effects frequently have hundreds of thousands of views. Well, their loss.
@JakeCole14532 жыл бұрын
I have no interest in weathering my models. I'm more interested in the plane than I am in oxidisation, climate effects and oil leaks.
