Mr Hennessy is legit the perfect teacher. He’s strict when he needs to be but really wants the best for his students. You know he could have a laugh with you as well as give a detention when needed.

Yes, I had a teacher just like that. I had to go into his lesson to ask him for some rulers because we had run out. He did this comedy routine where he tried to look for the rulers in his shoe. He eventually went to the back and got a handful of rulers. He gave them to me and I told him, I only need one. His head dropped and the class burst out laughing. Apparently he was in a really bad mood before I came in so that made me quite happy

I had a girl with the same personality as Jess back in high school, she was so smart it was unbelievable. While the rest of us was struggling with Biology she would learn as the words were coming out of the teachers mouth. She barely spoke to anyone. She went on to become a surgeon.

the teachers telling jessica to "adapt parts of her personality" for the real world really just speaks to how restricting the uk school system really is, trying to put kids in boxes. there is nothing wrong with jessica's personality: she seems hard-working, intelligent and sensitive. all the teachers should be worried about is whether she herself is happy and confident.

The headteacher was concerned that socially she was lagging behind, despite being very intelligent. She was in danger of becoming a socially-isolated adult. She wasn't trying to get her to conform to the norm, but instead was helping her to prepare for the real world. Getting her to edit the newspaper was a clever way to channel her ability and enthuisiasm in a way that involved her cooperating with others, rather than sticking in a bubble. Great teaching imo

Yep. I had two teachers at school, both fired. One was a creep and had an inappropriate relationship with a student. Basically he kissed this girl and stuff. Then he suddenly disappeared and wound up in the local paper. The other was very strict and like everyone hated him. He threatened to pull someone’s earrings out and then boom! The sack. So yeah compared to these teachers Mr Hennessy is an Angel, but also I’ve never met him.

She graduated from post-secondary with a First-Class Honours in Computer Games Design and Development, & was hired by the University for a project before she even graduated. @johnniea4684

That's what I thought tbh. I was like her in terms of not liking being at school, serious attendance problems in high school, despite getting good grades all the way up to around age 14. I put in almost a token effort during the last couple of months as i was in danger of flunking my exams. I ended up with 6 GCSEs at that grade, so did worse than her. I think maybe 1 or 2 kids in my year (about 130 pupils) got better grades than me. The school I attended was in a really poor area of Liverpool, so most children (and their parents) were not interested in education, which made it a "challenging" learning environment. The area (Knowsley) is currently in the bottom 1% for living standards in the UK.

smells like a superiority complex. loud popular kids dont deserve to talk to jess bc she's too smart and serious? just because kids are funny and likeable doesn't mean they don't take things seriously. as evidenced, quiet ambitious kids can learn a lot from them.

Dana Pink not really, before you know it your in debt and homeless, you can have fun in your teenage years whilst still paying attention in school, it's not hard.

Man, I miss school so much. Meaningless drama, only really needing to focus in year 11. Only my first year at Uni and I’m already 16k in debt

Jessica will be absolutely fine without having to adapt her personality to the real world...her personality is good! She's driven, hard working, sensitive and so much more organised than a lot of adults. The teachers are making it sound like it's abnormal at school... 'quirky...really?!'

Trust me it doesn't work in the professional world, there's much more to life than studying and exams, she may have the intellect but there's always someone with just as good grades, you need to have good social skills with other people and be very articulate to go far in life.

You can see she's generally quite uncomfortable talking with others, and has extremely low confidence. Obviously it depends on what type of job you get but it's not all just about working hard, you need other skills as well.
