This horse made me cry especially when I think of all the hard and very difficult trainings he went through before coming to this level.

Guys don't be sad. Totlias Of course will keep being reborn until his home will be the best it ever has been! R.I.P. Totlias. You were never supposed to be a toy. Neither a machine. The people that did this to you are clearly not going in heaven. They ruined a life. And hurt one. We love Totlias forever. People that see this comment, Like if you agree. Please DON'T ever treat any animal like this. As it's heart breaking to watch. We will miss Totlias. This is the biggest comment I've made for him. RIP. 💔💔💔💔💔💔 One of the worst deaths of a horse. What a giving horse. And thanks to what can be a cruel life for horses, after he was sold things went downhill. Rest in paradise, Toto. Free of humans.

I'm no expert with dressage or horses - just trying to learn a little more. But why are people so critical of Totilas' extended trot ? The reach and lift seem stunning. I realize this horse died some while back, but trying to understand the issue. There appears to be lots of controversy on Totilas.

I would guess it's mostly because of the back legs not supporting the front. He does seem very strong butan important aspect is missing in my opinion. Hope this helps

No comments about how drenched Toto is before even entering? I feel (my opinion) some questionable methods were employed to get that high knee action as it often is in saddleseat. It is way too exaggerated even for warmbloods. Rollkur, hollow backed, neck practically broken (I'd love to see x-rays and sonograms of soft tissue), ridden almost to death. I'm ashamed of what this sport has become, it's so far from classical, like Dr. Reiner Klimke that actually builds them up. This is borderline saddleseat riding front to back, high knees, hollow back, hind end disengaged. Kissing spines and suspensory injuries result as well, this is TRAGIC. Thanks, FEI for consistently rewarding this heinous display of abuse.

Also forgot to mention, Edward was accused of animal abuse when blood was found on his horse. He also trains them using Rollkur still.

Hello Ae, you are perfectly right. Gal is not a great rider and his methods to train horses are debatable! I saw him once behind the scenes in Rotterdam some years ago and it was simply shocking. But please consider that this video is not intended to promote Gal as a rider, it is meant to be a piece of art - like a painting. It is meant to be a tribute to a great horse that became a tragic legend! These six minutes simply were epic detached from everything what happened before and after...they will help to keep this legend alive...

@@TotilasFan I appreciate you responding and I do see your point of view (you have a great name tlby the way). I also love Totilas. He became a sort of symbol of dressage. This horse was magnificent. And could be even better if paired with someone who is not using so much force/borderline violence for training (like you mentioned). I guess he may have not become such a legend then. In this performance I am hypnotised by the horse. And the name you called him, a tragic legend, definitely fits here. I'm just so sad when people say that Totilas looked so happy. That him and Gal were the greatest pair ever. That's what made me so bitter. Totilas made a beautiful piece of art indeed. But it's shameless how much this art had to suffer to become the most famous dressage horse of the recent years Edit: but I am happy that he will be remebered. I would just hope that his story would change the sport but oh well

CRUEL....ROllKur...poor Tortillas. Serious dressage trainers are appalled by what this horse went through. Ended up in a 10 x 10 stall and only let out to give sperm. SO sad for this boy. His performances looked forced and he faded away due to so many injuries. His perfomances are historical but induced by cruel methods

I'm sorry but this is not a brilliant performance at all. The horses that come from him are all stressed and very hard on contact. You can litterally see it in this performance. The movement is erratic, back legs are not supporting the front. His neck is unnaturally rolled up. It's like an obsession, to be better, stronger etc. What is the value of this horses strenght and talent when the communication between him and the rider is so stiff. In my opinion its a disaster that he is scored so high almost every time.

Not classical dressage. Poor Totilas. How was he trained? Look up Dutch Harness Horses. Lots of action through „stretchies“ - no true forward scope. Screwed up gaits. = #DHH #KWPN #saddlebred #biglick #trot #LDR #stretchies #EdwardGal #rollkur #abuse #hyperflexion
