This was back when there was still real racing in NASCAR. This kind of racing and pass would never happen on any track today, except maybe one of the plate tracks. NASCAR is a shell of what it used to be.

im getting pissed about all the people saying that nascar sucks now and how the c.o.t has ruined it. in case you missed it, 2010 was the best season in a long time. there were good finishes, good rivalries and fights and a good chase for the title. it has been a great year for nascar and everybody still says it sucks. nascar is trying to make it better. they have been working on the cars and tweaking the rules to make it better and it is working.

@RedzDevilz the chase has its ups and downs. what i dont like is that you can have someone who hasnt won a race all season and make it in the chase and get good runs and win the championship but its also good because it used to get boring when there used to be like 10 races left in the season and they had a huge lead and you already knew they were going to win

@fbookacc yeah their points have always been confusing but they just changed it this week so now the first place winner gets 43 points and and second place gets 42 points and so on until last place gets 1 point so at least they simplified it a little bit. that also proves what i was talking about, how NASCAR is listening to the fans and changing for them but everyone still gives them crap.
@Steventhe2nd11 жыл бұрын
You have to give Carl a lot of credit, he had a very loose car and at the final lap, he caught up to Johnson and passed him at the front stretch, and you gotta give Jack Roush a lot of credit too, in the 2004 season, the 99 team had not a lot of sponsorship, and was about to abandon the 99 car next year, good thing he didn't, grat job for Carl in that race, i have a feeling that he'll win a championship sometime in his career

Boy when I see finishes like these it makes me really this those Gen 4 cars. They were phenomenal cars that just created exciting finishes on all types of tracks. I like the Gen 6 cars, but I’m sorry, they’re nothing compared to the Gen 4s.

People are gonna get mad about my Sr comment. Sr never won 3 straight! I respected Sr but wasn't really a fan of him. He was great and shaped nascar and will go down as one of the greatest in history ever! I do believe if Johnson and Knaus stay together they can win more than 7! Even other drivers in the garage say if things have gone right and they had some luck..this would be 5 in a row. 48 has never finished worst than 5th in the points and finished 2nd twice..once by 8 points! 48!48!48

Chris it had NOTHING to do with the decal on the car "taurus" or "fusion"...its all about the motor and car under it. Racing is all about constantly improving and staying ahead of the competition. The moment you dont you end up in theyre position..they simply have not dont theyre homework. Next years car could say "apalo 13" with a defferent design but it wont matter if whats important isnt there. Theyre engine departmeant mainly needs to step it up..and not to mention theyre arsonal of drivers is very poor right now.
@chrisuncleahmad9 жыл бұрын
How do you explain Roush going from 15 wins in 2005 to 6 a year later?
@ryanlagoda13529 жыл бұрын
Chris I can tell by your lack of real world experience in racing that its not worth me explaining the logistics and reality of it. If you wer more in depth into racing you would understand how things work better..a better grasp of what goes on behind your tv screen. How did kenseth with gibbs go from 7 wins two years ago to barely 1 the next.

And this is a great example of how drivers fade and do it fast once the money starts stacking up. The promise this guy showed us all back then..now nothing.
@BANGITSME879 жыл бұрын
This is a really dumb comment. Hes still a winning driver when he was with a organization in freefall.
@ryanlagoda13529 жыл бұрын
Roush has gone down hill..but theyve NEVER been too good to begin with. A driver doesnt show up and run in the top 3 week after week and SHOWING great driving ability to barely a 15th place car maybe tenth now. Its a proven fact that once professional drivers make it they slack.off after 5 years..even the best do it and Carl certainly IS NOT. Look at kenseth..came in looked like the next star..won a tittle..then started slipping more and more..he goes to gibbs and suddenly he's great again..the next year slacking. You should better educate yourself further than the usual coach potato nascar fan that THINKS they understand it. Once a driver doesnt feel the need to prove themself they stop.giving 100%..and only a select few have the true drive it takes to stay hungry every race every year WITHOUT making excuses of why theyre not performing like they once did.

You make a good point but Roush Cars are compete shit right now I mean Stenhouse wants to prove himself but his car is garbage so I don't think your entirely corrsct

I'm not a fan of Carl Edwards, but I've got a major feeling that he's going to revive his career this year. He's a hell of a driver with a great team behind him now that he has moved to Joe Gibbs Racing. Trust me. :-)

Jack Johnson Roush has never been the same since Ford went to the Fusion from the Taurus. Roush Racing was a beast with the old Tauruses- in 8 years driving that car, a Roush driver finished no worse than third in the final standings save for 2001. And of course, don't forget Mark Martin's success (And Jeff Burton's breakout 1997) in the old Thunderbirds.

Is it just me or were the top drivers less prima-donnas here? Edwards has gotten an ego now, this was before Johnson won 5 CHASE seasons in a row and started to believe he's invincible...I dunno. Compared to how things are now, it just seems that the drivers had a less inflated view of themselves back then. And this wasn't that long ago.

@DrgnFly0101 we now have a showoff/wussie/crybaby who has to enter every race, and have the 11, 18 and 20 winning all the time, and they complain as well when things don't go their way.
