The people saying it was overdramatic to be sad over a tree probably forgot that it was really good entertainment for a CAT, cats dont understand overdramatic-

The bird feeders were a great idea, and I love how it seems like Eevee is having even more fun than before! You're a great cat parent. I can totally relate to wanting to do everything you can to make your cats happy 😊

I really don’t like when people think cats are brainless animals and getting upset about her favorite tree getting cut down was overdramatic. Just like dogs, cats are creatures of habit, and when something that they normally look forward to every morning gets disrupted, it can impact their mood/increase their stress levels. Good for you to recognize this and to find a suitable alternative for Eevee that makes her happy

I feel very sorry that your cat 🐱 lost her tree, but I want to just want to make a very important point. The Burning Bush is an invasive plant and many areas are trying to cut them down and get rid of them because they take over native plants. It may of not been the neighbors who had the tree cut down, it could of been the township or city you lived in that told them it had to be removed. I think planting a nice maple tree or even a pine tree would be great to add a visual interest to Evees daily life. 😀

Oh Eevee! I feel your pain. Our neighbour cut down a lovely eucalyptus right on our boundary without any notice. Our garden is so small that we don't have any trees of our own to enjoy and we loved looking out at it! We hung a bird feeder from the roof outside our back door and our cat would sit at the door and chatter at the little birds. So lovely 🥰

The loss of a beautiful tree in the suburbs is so sad. They help cool your house, yard during the summer. Part of a tree was removed near our townhouse during the summer and suddenly the second floor was almost unlivable. The entertainment value of a tree is astonishing as you found out. I used to put out black oil sunflower seeds and it was amazing for the cats and us. I really get Evee's sadness at losing a friend. She is the cat who hunted leaves.

I totally understand and agree with your feelings on this. Trees are so necessary, and have been loved and nourished for years and years. What I did is donate to Arbor Foundation. With my donation they planted 10 trees. Or you can choose to plant a tree of your own.😊❤❤❤

You're not being overdramatic, we have to feel our emotions and this tree was really wonderful, and clearly made Eevee happy, I have a tree next to my house and I honestly don't think it would be the same without it, no matter if it isn't as beautiful or if it's messy from time to time, I love the shadow, the view and the occasional fruits, this tree is the biggest but the other smaller ones around it would also be missed...

This is a really beautiful story! My cat loved the window views here in New England and she constantly watched out of all the windows before she passed. And oh boy, squirrels are insane and relentless. I had one break into my actual apartment the last place I lived. It was an old Victorian house converted to apartments. It was full of nooks. I left shortly after, but I understand. Love the story! ❤

I just don’t understand why your neighbors cut it down. It provides so much shade and clean air, not just a home for the birds and critters. Oh well. Who knows one day they’ll realize their mistake. Eevee watching the backyard wildlife is positively stimulating to her. I’m glad she and Yoshi are enjoying nature’s beauty.

Anyone that said you were over dramatic has never had a happy cat. My old house had a massive birch tree and hedge row by the bay window and my two cats were the happiest they've ever been. We have a nice window here, and I've setup a bird feeder here but it's just not the same. There's more activity here, now, but I think they feel it's somewhat artificial. When all the wildlife was living IN the trees and bushes it was all so natural. One additional note: If you walk the cats anywhere near the feeder check them for ticks when you get home. Regardless of what google searches may say, ticks do hitch rides on critters that come around the feeder. I learned that the hard way after moving here.

Hi - adorable kitty - I would have gone straight to a nursery and purchased a tree and planted it on my side, right across from where the tree was. Eevee would have her tree, neighbors or not. The feeder is a great idea though, if a new tree would be impractical, and really it allows the critters to get very close. Glad she is happy like before :)

It's nice that you. tried to preserve the petals! I wouldn't have expected the leaves to turn green, either. I've seen people preserve flowers with resin before. Maybe it's some kind of a chemical reaction with those particular leaves :(

As someone that grew up in the country and spent a lot of time outside, whoever said you were overdramatic about the tree probably never really enjoyed time outdoors or understands how important trees are to us and wildlife. You guys are amazing cat parents, and that was awesome that you were able to restore the homes for so many birds and squirrels in the process. Their habitats are constantly being taken away and it's something we as people take for granted for our own wants and needs.

Trees are essential! I love that you stood up about this. I lived in a country-like apartment in NYC (!) with one great tree on each side. Each year, I loved seeing the beautiful birds migrating from all parts of the country. Once they started to develop the area, both trees were cut down. Heartbreaking!!

We have a huge oak tree(like 5+ floor tall)in the small yard. It messed up our pavements really bad, but we love the tree so much and it habitats for lots of animals nearby. The tree comes before us and we respected that. Could be easy over 100 years according to the old native resident neighbor who passed away now. Never thought it’s a cat’s entertainment, but come to understand that now. Why not having a tree in your yard? Nothing can replace a real tree’s many benefits to everyone.

I understand totally! There was a cherry tree near our bedroom and cars would watch the birds chirping and fluttering around. A rare October snowstorm came by and within an hour the tree fell over due to the leaves still on the trees. I asked the condo manager if they could replace it. Never happened. It was such a plus, beautiful in the Spring with pink blossoms and the delight for my cats. ☹️☹️

Oh my God, this video actually moved me to tears. This reminds me of a time when my favourite tree was cut down too! I was heartbroken, but I realised that this was inevitable as the tree was infested (most of it) by a huge, ever-growing nest of furry centipedes that were getting EVERYWHERE and whose population was spiralling out of control, and so had to be brought down to curb the infestation. That tree used to be home to my favourite birds as well (I lived in India which was home to a large population of a super-cute species of birds called tailorbirds)! As for the comments that call you "overdramatic", I really have no words and I'm very sorry you've had to receive such comments because I understand we're sadly among the very few people in this world who are strongly influenced by nature and natural surroundings, and are sensitive to changes in such surroundings. I personally dread the idea of the world just being a huge field of skyscrapers, with trees merely dotting the landscape in places instead of existing in abundance as part of lush green forests and woodlands, which we thankfully still have, at least as of today…
