Star Wars...
She's back! and by that I mean, Ahsoka! the wonderous awesome character Dave Filoni seems to believe is the cure to all things. Now we finally get to deep dive into her life and times.
Also Sabine! ... we uhhh, she's annoying but like, uhhh... Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also in it.

There is a scene in one of the episodes of Filoni's Clone Wars where a clone runs up to a battle droid, punches it in the face, breaks his hand because of it (or hurts it bad at least), then gets shot by said droid. Filoni you had one job....
@houghtonjojo8944

It’s in the movie and it always makes me laugh. Both armies are charging each other (Star wars using world war 1 logic without the trenches) droid shoot the clones weapon so he just keeps running and socks the droid right in the faceplate, hurts his hand then get swiftly shot in the face by said droid. A Wookie, Lasat and a force user should be the only things punching droids and it actually doing anything.
@papapalps2415

Of course, like on most things, TCW is very inconsistent on whether droid-punching is a viable strategy or not. There is that example, but there are also tons more in the show proper of clones, named or otherwise, punching and kicking droids successfully.

@@Flufferz626 did someone mention Bad Batch? Personally I’ve never enjoyed the bad batch, it does exactly what I don’t want from Clone troopers. This whole show is an exercise in "...well if you know the source material...". Basically, "if you know the source material" some of this stuff *sort of* makes sense. In this case, that governor, played by the always awesome Clancy Brown, was a character in Rebels that was also voiced by Clancy Brown. In Rebels, he was the governor that was arrested when the empire took over Lothal, who broke out of prison and eventually led the local resistance. To some extent, you can rationalize this by saying "he doesn't really give a shit about being embarrased in front of these people, because he's one of the main people who saved their asses from the empire" Now, for anyone who hasn't seen Rebels (i.e., most of the audience) this isn't even remotely explained, so that rationale has absolutely no weight here, and criticism of it is entirely justified. For me, I enjoyed that he got a cameo, because Clancy Brown is awesome, but damn if that isn't one of many examples in this show of expecting the audience to just shut up and go along with what's happening. The upside of this is that, because this is based on Rebels (Pretty much the only decent contribution to SW lore by Disney), there's absolutely no way this will be as bad or as damaging to the brand as Obi Wan was. I absolutely despised that show for its pointlessness and multiple character assassinations, and the fact that they are following the same patterns here but ruining their own lore rather than George's means that only people like me who are (overly) fond of Rebels and clone wars are really gonna feel the sting from this one.

When Bob is sitting in his office after receiving a message from Syndrome’s assistant for a job offer, he begins to look over all the news clippings and children’s drawings he saved from the “glory days” when he was Mr. Incredible. The visuals, the music, and his ponderous, yet hopeful expression convey’s it all without him saying a word. We know what he’s thinking! “This is my chance! I can relive being a hero again. I can put on the suit and wear it proudly even for a short time! I can be Mr. Incredible again!” That scene accomplishes so much to convey what Mr. Incredible is thinking without dialogue.

Incredibles has some of the most efficient and well written dialogue and scenes that a film can have. My prime example of an amazingly efficient and beautifully written scene would be where Frozen and Bob are reminiscing about the old days. In just two minutes we establish and reaffirm the belief's of Bob, Frozone, and the state of the world as a whole regarding Superheros. And the dialogue is done in a way that is just for lack of a better word, human. It feels exactly how two retired superheros would talk in a world where they can't use their powers.

For those who are unaware of Rebels, Ezra, and Thrawn, Thrawn and Ezra were on a cruiser that was being swarmed by the creatures that we see in hyperspace in Mando/BoBF. Ezra is at a stalemate of keeping Thrawn contained while also keeping a blast shield shut to prevent stormtroopers from swarming him and decides that he needs to stay on the ship as the creatures begin to go into hyperspace. What's funny to me is that in this process, the glass windows have been shattered so a bunch of tentacles can wrap around Thrawn, so they should have died, but as we've seen, human/oids being in space without protective gear is more of an inconvenience than an actual instant death

Now there is no passion there is no hardship in the creation or even a point to make anything other than repetitive nonsense since it almost always makes the same amount of money with the people that still like the flashy colours turn your brain off entertainment. I honestly can’t tell which one is the most poorly handled character, Sabine or Ahsoka. They turned Sabine into an inconsiderate jerk that bails on commemorative ceremonies and go against explicit instructions to not take valuable items away from secure locations, and put the whole galaxy at risk. As for Ahsoka, not only has she been stripped of her emotions, but also her sense of urgency apparently. She knew where Sabine was, and made it very clear that the map was incredibly important, but instead of rushing over to her and getting the map back, she decided to stand around and do nothing until it was too late. Especially when they’re depressed and have crap memories from that past that they’re celebrating on. Her entire civilization is fucked and two people who she can consider family again are either dead or missing. You’re right, how dare she think for herself and not just show up to please the public who don’t need any further more pleasing. Ashoka is also depressed , you expect her to be her old self like in Clone Wars ? She was betrayed by the Jedi Council, her close friends from that order are all dead. Her entire effort in the war was a waste cuz Palpatine ended up winning. Then the Jedi Order was vaporized. She went through two major wars. Her master ended up being the most evil person in the universe and played a part in the extermination of the Jedi. She feels she’s part of the reason that this happened. “Oh but bro , why is she not as happy anymore. “ Thinking is hard Also this is a fucking galaxy. I don’t think she expected to have these mercenaries find them so quickly. Letting Sabine go with the sphere is because she knows her state and knows this is the way at the end for her to solve it since she’s the only person who knows who can solve it so giving her space was a good call. @@esotericVideos Wrong on everything again. “Thinking Ahsoka is going to be bad because other Disney Star Wars is bad is like thinking any sequel to a good movie is going to be good just because it's the same IP.” No it’s not because it’s all under the same Disney umbrella and they have a proven track record of bad Star Wars. You’re just ignoring reality here. “IP doesn't determine quality, it's the creators/showrunners who do, and Dave Filoni has demonstrated he actually cares a lot more than the showrunners of these other shows.” You’re only half right here and again are ignoring Disney’s proven track record with Star Wars. Also caring and being passionate about something by itself does not necessarily determine quality as Ahsoka and bad fanfiction proves. You require much more than love and/or respect to making something good. “And yeah, a fair amount of times it feels like they are looking to dunk on the show because that's their gimmick and so they are looking for excuses for their insults.” Prove it with examples, because just stating “yeah this is what they do because I say so” as fact doesn’t cut it. Dunking on shows is not their “gimmick” as you so wrongly put it, critically analyzing things is, but you clearly cannot distinguish the difference and want to act like they’re just mindlessly bad-mouthing things with nothing to substantiate their claims. If their sole goal was to dunk on things they'd never say anything positive about the things they criticize like Ahsoka, but they do. Your dishonesty is on full display here. “I think they are like you, where they hear the term "Star Wars" and make assumptions about the quality based solely on the IP.” They’re nothing like me because they’re still willing to give Star Wars grace and I am not. They were able to enjoy Andor while I couldn’t despite being able to acknowledge that it is well written show. Also those “assumptions” are not unfounded give that Andor is literally the sole good thing to come out of Star Wars under Disney in almost 10 years. That’s 1 good thing out of how many bad again? “And like I said (and Andor demonstrated) that's a silly way to do things. If you want to come into a show with pre-formed expectations, do it based on the show runner, not the IP. IMO” You’re wrong because again, Andor was the sole good in a sea of bad. 5 bad movies. 4 bad shows. 1 good show (haven't watched all of the Clone Wars and need to rewatch it from the start to know its full quality so I'm leaving it out for now). That's a 1 out of 10 so its not silly at all to assume Star Wars media will be bad. And if we’re to pre-judge based on the show-runner and not the IP, I have some bad news buddy, Dave Filoni is certain not that good of a writer to be as gracious as possible towards the man. There was more bad episodes in the Clone Wars then most people are willing to admit to and Ahsoka is very bad itself.

Some fun details about this episode: Hera is told that the map can’t be read because they don’t have the “key.” Hera instantly knows Sabine can help unlock the map. Sabine is an artist, and supposedly the map needs an “artist’s eye” or whatever to unlock it. Sure, that’s fine, however, Hera does not know this. For all she knows, they need a physical key, not a metaphorical one. She has no reason to believe Sabine would be exceptionally useful in this situation, but she’s right. It’s just another instance of characters making correct assumptions without enough information (like Leia figuring out she was kidnapped to lure out Obi-Wan). If my math is correct, the map only has 125 combinations. You can just brute force it in half an hour. Not to mention the the puzzle isn’t that complicated anyway. Sabine has no reason to grab her lightsaber but she does anyway, even though she’s better with guns. It’s almost as if she knows that she’s about to face someone else who has a lightsaber. Again, characters doing things that they have no reason to but have to for the sake of the plot. It’s fine for a character to survive a “lethal” injury, such as being stabbed or cut in half or burned alive or whatever, but what matters is consequences. Sure, maybe you can argue that Sabine’s injury missed her vitals or whatever (I’m not a doctor), or space medicine, but an injury like that, shot like that, tells the audience that something very bad has happened to this character and that there will be a consequence. Death isn’t the only option. Qui-Gon did die. Many Inquisitors died. Darth Mual’s brother died from being stabbed. Darth Maul survived, but he went insane, his dark desire for revenge keeping him alive but driving him mad. Vader was horribly crippled and lived the rest of his life in agony, not to mention the emotional torment he endured. Even legends Palpatine, as thematically dumb as bring him back was, still had to deal with the fact that his artificial bodies rotted away incredibly quickly and he was constantly fighting to keep up. Grand Inquisitor, Third Sister, and now Sabine were all horribly stabbed and injured, and with bedrest they’re cool. Hell, Third Sister didn’t even need that.

We cut to Sabine, who's markedly losing her fight, then when the Sith shows up she gets shot at by turbo lasers from the ship while Asoka disembarks. You establish Sabine as competent enough to at least not die to a young sith in a 1v1, you establish she can't BEAT them either, and all without needing to maim or injure anyone in any way that might present problems to your story.

@nananamamana3591 I guess that works, the thing is, when it comes to lightsabers Sabine is supposed to be at least slightly incompetent. She needs to conclusively lose this fight imo for her arc. We know Sabine can't beat shin, and Sabine (should) know that too. so what's her mission objective? To stall her until backup arrives. If backup does arrive and she's uninjured, even if it does look like she's losing it won't feel to many viewers like shes bad at being a duelist, even if she is, and the show wants us to think that. A decent padawan would be able to do this task, and it's important for this arc that she's not a decent padawan. This is also the main first fight where we see Shin. Ideally we want to see Shin's power, and Sabine's weakness, and the less conclusive the fight, the more likely you'll only see one, or both to a much lesser degree. I don't agree with the injury filloni chose, but there should definitely be an injury.

They are simply inspired by having watched Scarface a dozen times. We're now at a point where modern screenwriters aren't even influenced by other movies when it comes to structuring their plots, but rather quest logs from video games. There's so little of worth left in the talent pool of modern Hollywood and I genuinely hope that the ongoing strikes result a great deal of the current writers losing their jobs and going to work in McDonalds (which is where they belong).

This isn't just extracting from Rebels. This is also extracting from the EU (again) that they killed with Thrawn. The Thrawn Trilogy was a highly accomplished book series, one of the greats of Star Wars and a fantastic read on its own. This is their 'recreation' of that but instead of Luke and Leia and Ackbar engaged in a terrifying back and forth where they have to use all their military, diplomatic, and strategic strengths to find a way through to kill Thrawn we get Sabine, Hera, Ahsoka, all of whom aren't even in character. That's something else I noticed, at least Rebels, for all its terrible flaws, had some decent characterization. Hera was motherly, Ahsoka was a friend, Sabine (who I hate because that's not how a Mandalorian acts and Filoni's first casualty was Mandalorians as a whole and their authors) had at least something fun about her rebellious streak. Any semblance of who these characters were is gone. This whole thing is like a slower, worse Kenobi that is assassinating EU characters now too. Finally, people begin to see Filoni for what he is more so. Filoni's always been devastating to lore and plot, he has stated many times that he will ignore and destroy anything that gets in his way which he isn't required to obey for his vision. The kneeguard launchers aren't actually that egregious in BoB by the way. They are actually part of his kit and hooked up to his sensors in the helmet, always have been, but how they displayed them is silly. Read the ol' Dark Horse comics and the books of the Expanded Universe if you're looking for something enjoyable in Star Wars. @@romannumeralvii4285 The good parts like characterization, I can believe that. The plot and writing, no way. That's solely Filoni, even if he took ideas from others. There's no way he'd let anyone else write anything for a plot or idea he has. It just isn't in his character. Unless he is directly instructed by someone with the power to fire him he will refuse to obey any structure or continuity. I will state there is no such thing as truly original as everything is based on and taken from something, but Filoni is stated directly by most of those he's worked with to be incredibly difficult, arrogant, and grabby with other's ideas and making them his own. He also is outright identifying himself as despising working with any vision that isn't his own and will actively throw away anything that gets in the way of what he wants to do. He took the person responsible for maintaining continuity in Star Wars and threw him out of the writers' room during TCW. His treatment of Mandalorians is detestable by all possible conceptions.

As a massive fan of Republic Commando and Jango Fett: Open Seasons, I wholeheartedly agree. Filoni basically caused the canon/legends split back in 2008 with TCW. I'm surprised no one brought up Treasure Planet when that map orb McGuffin showed up. It is visually and functionally identical to the one in that great movie. It even opened up from a puzzle the same way, and the representation of the galactic map is even similar, though it looked leagues better in Treasure Planet. If this ends with the bad guys in a situation where they can't open the orb-map with brute force and have to kidnap purple haired lady and force her to open it because she's the only one who can, I'll be blown away by the sheer creativity and originality of the script writer.

(Had time wrong I think it was actually liberated a year before Yavin) So the ceremony doesn’t mention the rebels, Han, Luke or Leia because they had no part in liberating Lothal and at the time of liberation - Han - still a smuggler Leia - Still a imperial diplomat Luke - still on tatoonine Extra Info for those who can’t read or not understand, the above is not saying when the show is set but when the planet they are on was liberated. The ceremony in the show is a annual celebration of the empires defeat on Lothal, this show takes place post fall off the empire but they still would not mention 3 hero’s that weren’t around when the planet they’re on was liberated. Also Rebels has a cop out ending were Sebine says the Rebels expected an Imperial counterattack that never came so the Empire gave up on Lothal for reasons.

As expected, they ruined Sabine. She escapes from an important ceremony without warning and embarassing everyone, she ignores direct orders to return, endangers the pilots, she steals an artifact of national importance because, you see, she thinks better at home, she almost detonates a bomb next to herself, Ahsoka and the only a clue to Thrawn (thankfully the droid saved everyone), she runs to fight on the roof with an unknown enemy and takes only a lightsaber with her, but not Mandalorian armor, she knows how to fight with lightsabers no worse than a Padawan despite her low sensitivity to the Force (plus a bunch of her abilities of the Rebels), she survives being stabbed with a lightsaber like a teapot burn...Like Ahsoka, she became a Mary Sue. Again this idiotic start with a map from The Force Awakens... Who the fuck, how and why made a map to Thrawn's location? Thrawn is definitely not going to move anywhere in the coming years so that this map does not become useless? Who hid it in the ancient tomb of the Nightsisters? So a little short sentence tidbits about a few of the focal characters: Ashoka Tano - former Jedi apperentice to Anakin Skywalker. Left the order during before the end of the clone wars. Was apart of a strike team that went to capture Maul from his take over of Mandalore. Saved from Vader by Ezra using a World between worlds. Hera Syndula - part of a small Rebel cell during the early rule of the Empire (roughly Andor time). Was remantically involved with a human Jedi Kanan Jarrus, gave birth to his son. Ace Pilot and often the mother figure of her group. Father was a freedom fighter during the clone wars. Sabine Wren - Mandalorian who at a young age was inlisted in the Imperial academy. Left after creating a weapon that would target Beskar Armor and fry the wearer(s) from the inside vaporizing them. Skilled in mechanics, demolition, art and history. Was trained by Kanan Jarus in the use of a lightsaber when she had possession of the Darksaber. Huyang (David Tennant) - Is a Droid who was part of the Jedi Order in charge of lightsaber construction for younglings. As been in service probably even as far as Yoda's ealry days in the order. Has had a working relationship with Ashoka when she was in the Jedi Order. The reason I am mentioning this is just to point out a few small details that will never get reference in the show.😊

It would be like a Civil War movie where suddenly the Union has to go into an ancient temple to find a magic map to lead to Robert E Lee. Like dude is not remotely magic. Homie was in the Navy. Ahsoka should’ve just destroyed it as soon as she got confirmation of its authenticity. If this map leads to the location of both Ezra and Thrawn, (which it should) then that means the good guys want to keep it in order to get to Ezra and maybe kill Thrawn before the bad guys find out where they need to go and save Thrawn. So if the good guys are successful in keeping the map and location of Ezra/Thrawn a secret, then they get their friend back and permanently prevent Thrawns return (by killing him). But if the bad guys get the map, then there will be another galactic war and the New Republic is fricked. However, if the good guys destroy the map, they no longer risk the chance of starting a galactic war by saving their friend. It’s such a high-risk low-reward scenario. But I guess, if there’s one thing to say about Thrawn, it’s that *He’s too dangerous to be kept alive!!!*

Why does Hera, or anyone else for that matter, think Thrawn is dead? He was last seen onboard his star destroyer, being carried into unknown space by space whales that can go to lightspeed. Ezra uses his animal influence powers to control the whales into grabbing Thrawn's fleet and hyperspace them all away, with him and Thrawn still onboard together. There was no reason to assume they died, they just had no clue where they ended up, because space is really big. I seem to remember Sabine saying, in the epilogue of Rebels, that they knew Ezra was alive and they were going to find him. It's possible they could have all died, from being stranded in unknown space somewhere, but there's no reason to assume that. Thrawn still had his entire fleet of ships and all the crew left alive, bar the few guards that Ezra killed, so they could potentially have moved from wherever they were initially taken and gotten help. That also results in the TFA "map to Luke Skywalker" issue, where you have a map to someone who could potentially have just left where they were when the map was made. This seems like a very stupid way to set up Thrawns return. I always assumed Thrawn would come back by either the Empire managing to finally detect a distress signal from his ship and rescuing him, or Thrawn being able to get in contact with the Chiss Ascendency (his people's empire in the unknown regions). If the Empire knows where Thrawn is, why would they not just go get him? If they don't know where he is, why would they know that some ancient space map would help them find him? Does the map predict the future or something? Is it like Jack Sparrow's compass, that magically points you to whatever you want? If you really wanted a race between the New Republic and the Empire to get to Thrawn first, why not just have both of them intercept a distress signal, and scrambling to try and find a way to reach him before the other does? Alternatively, have the New Republic ship at the beginning detect the signal and then the Sith board them in order to steal the information they've obtained. No need for this nonsensical map McGuffin or boring, discount Indiana Jones shenanigans.

I'll agree with Rags that Force Awakens is when things started to go off the rails, but to use his car crash analogy, that's when they slipped on some ice but could have recovered. The Last Jedi is when they hit the median, flipped 20 foot in the air, and landed in a tree. The Rise of Skywalker is when the tree gave way and dumped the car into a ravine where it then exploded.

It's hilarious to me that Theo is the resident Clone wars and Rebels expert despite hating theese cartoons. I can't help but imagine the EFAP crew rocking up to his house and going 'They made a follow up to thoose shows you despise! Come watch it with us' at which point Theo gets dragged from his home while holding on to the door frame.

When qui gon was stabbed it was after being hit in the face and stunned so he dropped the overhead attack he was doing. In this fight, the overhead attack is not dealt with when the stab happens, and being stabbed does not paralyze you. Meaning the lady being stabbed should still have brought down her lightsaber on the now defenceless lady and they should both die. Real fights are not like sport fights- everyone doesn't freeze when someone scores a point.

Is it bad that for Mandalorian season 3 and this, I’ve been significantly more excited for the EFAP TV coverage than the actual episodes?
@Right_Said_Brett
@Right_Said_Brett 10 ай бұрын
It's not bad, it simply shows that you have good taste. Why would anyone with good taste be excited for a new episode of a terribly written show? I still haven't seen anything of Andor. I know that the EFAP crew praise it and I don't doubt them, but my interest in watching Star Wars these days is less than zero, thanks to Disney. The only way I was ever going to watch Andor was if their were reaction shows on EFAP and their weren't, so I didn't. If someone had told me a decade ago that in ten years time there will be a live action Star Wars TV show which is critically praised and yet, I wouldn't even be bothered to watch a single second of it, not even a trailer; I would have called them insane. Yet, here we are... It's just so sad.

I’m probably the weird one in here, but I actually did like Ahsoka’s character and some of the things they did with her in clone wars and rebels. So I’m really disappointed they didn’t just leave her dead after rebels. Her story was over and at least it ended on a high note. 😢

@@sleep8646 maybe, maybe not. We don’t know that part is not nuclear when detonated. What we do know is they have the ability to explode into a massive ball of fire. Dialogue would’ve clarified it, but Dave did not even think of it. Even if not nuclear, they’re risking an explosion inside a city hospital in a heavily populated area. Hera, a military general casually tells them to, go for it. “It would be 9/11 times a thousand.” Lol

To the EFAP crew: If you’re wondering where Thrawn is and why the characters need a map to find him, in the final season of Rebels he and his entire Star Destroyer were teleported to an unknown location by hyperspace whales that were brought there by Ezra. Yes. Animals that live in space that are capable of traveling through lightspeed like spaceships. It’s so beyond stupid.
