I think it's safe to say that Mando should never trust that Tatooine lady ever again. When he asks if she has a ship that is similar to the razor crest, she lies and gives him a ship that's significantly smaller and he had to repair himself. Then she gives him a droid that has a republic tracker on it without telling him.

But Mando doesn't know anyone else other than her who can provide the same services she offers him. And even if she's a deceitful and annoying little lady, everything always works out for Mando in the end so he has no reason not to trust her. I'm sure she'll be back next season.

And he STILL just blindly goes along with whatever she says, as if he also somehow doesn't know she's a con artist How in the name of all that's holy can anyone turn off enough of their brain to just accept that a person who's supposedly a professional bounty hunter doesn't know a single other mechanic in the entire bloody galaxy? she even lives off in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, so why does he bother? @@999999SkyGuy At this point I think that's exactly what this show is telling us. After all his undisclosed years as a bounty hunter, which I should mention have earned him the reputation of the "best bounty hunter in the parsec"', Mando does not know anyone other than his retarded cult, Greef Karga, Cara Dune (not anymore I guess heh) that guy from S1E6 who's probably dead by now and the Tatooine mechanic whom he conveniently met in S1. The fact that she keeps reappearing seasons after seasons whenever Mando needs information, a new ship, specific parts or whatever, and that he keeps coming back to her despite her deceptive nature is I think enough to conclude that he does not have connections in spite of his past as a reputable bounty hunter.

None of the Mandolorians have ships (why?) but they get to Navarro anyway (how?). Also, the pirates have way cooler ships in terms of design than that stupid Nabu fighter that Mando flies. There is no reason he should have a Nabu fighter, or an R5-D4 droid and yet he just does. And that's how little the writers care. Greef Carga is a joke, Navarro has no Army even though Marshall Dune has been promoted to a unit. Teva needs to fly to Coruscant instead of being able to send a transmission/distress signal, or a droid. Greef Karga is a known name, even if Navarro hasn't joined the Republic. Star Wars is a joke. The universe is so broken its embarassing to acknowledge this is the same as George Lucas' creation.

Greef Karga was the head of the bounty hunters guild of Navarro (as this episode conveniently mentions). He knows and has likely worked with almost every mercenary in the system. He has a group of highly trained droid smiths residing in his town. Navarro's trade port has generated incredible riches that have allowed them to develop the city tremendously. And on top of all of that, he knows the incredibly valuable trade port of Navarro is conveniently located in pirate space, with the local pirates beginning to cause trouble in town. How the hell has it never occurred to Greef to hire some mercenaries to act as town guards? Or commission your droid smiths to build a droid police force? Or extend an offer to the mandalorians to serve as a peacekeeping force before your city is bombed into the stone age? Hell, buy some weapons and start your own police force. "Hell, buy some weapons and start your own police force. They clearly have the resources, there is no excuse beyond bad writing induced stupidity." It gets worse, the next episode explains that the Republic has some confusing ban on planets having defences or any standing military. The next side quest has Mando going to a city where they're not even allowed to have armed security forces within the city, Din only being allowed to have his weapon because his religion is a legal loophole. The New Republic doesnt' have the resources to spare to defend or help out a planet on the Outer Rim, and yet is somehow still able to enforce it rules on another planet on the Outer Rim.

Navarro, as an independent system, shouldn't be subject to those rules as far as I am aware. What I liked about Bo-Katan in The Clone Wars, is that she became the ruler of Mandalore because no one else was left. Both Mandalore's original ruler, Satine (also Bo-Katan's sister), and the leader of Death Watch (the terrorist group Bo-Katan was a part of), were killed by Maul. So the only one left to reclaim Mandalore, was Bo-Katan, the same person who helped Maul conquer it. It was a huge irony to see the person who caused all of it, and who also lost everything in the process, being forced to take the throne of a now destroyed and divided world. After the terrible things she did, and the mistakes that led her to this moment, we had a perfect setup for her redemption arc...but here's where The Clone Wars ended. By the time we see her again in Rebels, she's now a good person, and we are told that she's totally the most capable to rule Mandalore, and it's the same thing in the Mandalorian. The audience tends to accept this new narrative, because "OH MY GOD IT'S BO-KATAN, I KNOW WHO THAT IS", but people forget that she has A LOT to atone for. We never saw her EARNING the right to rule, and I'd be really interested in seeing that, but it'll never happen, cause this is Disney. So much wasted potential.

They don't bring up Bo-Katan's history because they just skipped over her redemption arc. She was a villain in the Clone Wars up until she disappeared in Season 5. Bo Katan walks the way she does in live action because she walked that way in the animated show. Technical limitations from back in the 2000s are the reason a warrior ruler walks with her arms in a weird position. That's peak Star Wars canon to me.
@Bensworth

Its kinda to the shows benefit that they don't actually go into detail regarding Bo Katan's history. Not that any of the current writers/showrunners actually care about such continuity, but if they did we would truly be able to see how much of a horrible failure she is. She was second command in a Mandalorian terrorist group (and not the nobel rebellion type, they literally burned unrelated villages in their spare time for fun. Plus the whole reason they were being terrorists is because they hated how the current Mandalorian government were pacifists), she helped a rogue sith lord take control of her home planet (working with various criminal organizations to start a large scale false flag attack on mandalore to shake the populations trust in the current government), and then to take back her home from said sith she managed to convince the republic start a full scale invasion of her home (right after said invasions success order 66 happened, putting mandalore under imperial occupation), mostly did nothing during mandalore's occupation (under which the the mandalorian people were used and abused by the empire), and when she was essentially handed the reins of the Mandalorian peoples rebellion she gallantly led her people into getting absolutely rekted by the empire (as we saw in that one flashback). The fact that this weak summary of her history makes for a far more interesting story then the literal paste we see in The Mandalorian will never not be funny to me.

My best faith interpretation of the blacksmith talking about different forges having the same function is that it’s a metaphor for the two different groups of Mando’s (hers and Bo Katan’s) being equally valid. If this is the true interpretation, it works well enough. My problem is how the Blacksmith arrived at this conclusion. She’s been very firm in her beliefs up until now that her people are the only true Mandelorians, and that any others have strayed from The Way. Sure, she likes Bo now after, like, a few days. However, she only liked her AFTER she began following their way. This should reinforce her belief that her way is The Way. If they wanted to actually challenge this belief of hers, she should have hung out with the other mandelorians doing it their way. Maybe the other mandelorians save one of their kids like in ep 4. They also bond over their love of Mandelor or something else to do with Mandelorian history. Also don’t know why Mando, the guy with the darksabre, can’t go get the other Mandelorians, and not Bo.

So before Din and Bo turned up, they were all stranded? How do they achieve anything at all? What kind of existence do they lead, hiding in a cave and eating meals alone? You know what would have been smart given Bo's ship had troop-drop capabilities? I don't know, repeat what they did to Gideon's cruiser, board the cruiser, kill the crew, take it for yourselves, make it a Mandalorian Cruiser. That would bolster their culvert! In fact, on that note, what even happened to Gideon's Cruiser in the first place? Bo and her gang successfully took that entire ship, that is a major win, that'd probably be real useful right about now. Or at all. Like how the gungans used powerful shield generators to force an enemy with superior range to come closer. Air superiority is everything, even at our backwater technological level, let alone one with starships, so this gives a good excuse why they would bother sending men onto the ground for "cool" action scenes.. Gives a chance to show the audience the threat the pirates pose to untrained citizens, so when the mandos come we can appreciate how badass they are. Also provides some character to the citizens and the mayor (he could be coordinating defenses, ambushes, etc), these people fought for what they had the best they could, but they needed help if they were going to survive. There could be nice tension in the juxtaposition between the bleak scenes of citizens desperately defending themselves and the relatively calm scenes of characters talking about the problem from a disconnected disposition. The audience knows how bleak the situation is, but those characters don't, so we are screaming "you guys need hurry up, screw this bureaucratic stuff, go find mando quick!" As it is, they kind of just rolled over and got saved and expect everything to go back to normal...it's -impossible- hard to empathize with them. Though, it's hard to see any character in this show as "real" as opposed to set pieces...

They travel to Tatooine (where all the sets are) to resolve a problem. It turns out that, years ago, the Cantina was a school before Bea Arthur bought it and converted into the drink hole it is now. Apparently the parents of the children forgot this and really want to drop their kids off there to learn. There is a perfectly functional school just down the street but the parents REALLY want their children to learn here like they did. Eventually, a fight breaks out. Bea Arthur wins and slays many parents, which is good news for Dex since he is now able to provide catering for their funerals. The children are all sent to the orphanage and no longer need to worry about school. However, Watto and Frik escape, getting ready to plot revenge... maybe, it depends what else happens this season. Going from Coruscant to Corellia takes 3 days via hyperspace, and they are both in the core of the galaxy. Let's be generous and assume the New Republic guy is stationed in the mid rim and not the outer rim, it would take him maybe five days to get to Coruscant, and it would take around ten days to go from Coruscant to the outer rim where the Mandalorians are hiding. Maybe the Mandalorian planet is right next to Navarro, we don't know, so let's give the show the benefit of the doubt and say that it's only twelve hours to a days journey away, because if Navarro is on the other side of the outer rim, it could take as long as twenty days to get there. The people of Navarro had to survive in the desert for somewhere between two weeks and a month in the desert with little to no supplies before help arrived. George Lucas may have had bad dialog but at least he knew how his world worked and actually cared about telling a story.

the smithing lady is kinda fascinating: 1. she changes her mind on on the mythosaurus for kind of no reason, given that she did not believe bo-katan, but now she does believe her, without evidence or even speaken with her since then. 2. She can teleport: Given that she does not wear a jetpack and we do see tere only transporting vessel nonstop flying over the city the only way she could have ended up in the mayors office is via teleport, since if another mandalorian helped her down this mandalorien would be up there to to help her. 3. She might has actual superpowers aswell since noone reacts to her beating evryone down she appears to be able to negate sound, fascinating. 4. Lasty she might be crazy, in htat she things of herself as this lone surviver with no home but with the passion to reunite her people and retake her homeland. The Problem is just that she has her people and her homeland is free for taking, but she cannot admit it so she has to ignore all evidence of a free mandalor to keep living her fantasie. In the Roleplaying Genre you would call her an Edgelord. On a nother note: What good has a stationarie gun that fires slow has bad aim and even if it hits it target perfectly only throws it to the ground? And why are the mandaloriens so afraid of it?

That little “he shot first” line between the pirate captain and Greef Karga… I think the writers might be trying to reference the scene from A New Hope with Han and Greedo. Because the original 1977 scene showed Han shoot Greedo first. Which naturally caused Greedo’s arm to jerk up from the impact of the blaster, which also caused him to pull the trigger missing Han by about 2 feet at point blank range. That original scene makes perfect sense!! Then the special addition completely screwed it up by changing the scene to show Greedo somehow shooting first at point blank range, but completely missed by like 2 feet above Han’s head. It even shows him holding his gun right at Han’s chest above the table with his alien finger on the trigger. Like there’s literally no logical reason for Greedo to miss if he actually shot first. They could’ve tried CGIing Han kicking the table up a little bit to compensate for why Greedo missed so bad. Instead they just messed with the timing of both blasters firing to make it look like Greedo shot first and Han second. If they’re seriously trying to reference Han and Greedo with that “he shot first” explanation when all the pirates clearly didn’t shoot at all. God help us!!

@@jonathancullis9155 ha! Tell me about it bro. George Lucas’s reason for changing that scene was so lame. “Good guys don’t shoot first” is what I think he used as an excuse. But Han wasn’t really established as “a good guy” yet. Even at the end of the movie he didn’t want to help the good guys fight in the battle, and was taking his reward, and leaving before the Death Star could show up to blows the good guys away. It took till right at the very end of the final battle for Han to change his mind and help the good guys.

In Rebels, Ezra’s arc in the first few episodes of season one can be summed up as a young boy who’s been raised in poverty and had been forced to be self dependent for most of his life making him selfish and self serving gaining a new perspective that encourages him to stand up for those in need. This is prevalent in his introductory scene where it’s initially framed as though he’s defending the merchant from getting bullied by the Empire but soon after helping the merchant Ezra steals food from him, it’s revealed that Ezra only defended said merchant cuz he was hungry. Informing the audience of who he is and setting up developments to come. If you asked me to tell you what Mando’s introductory scene was or what it establishes for him as a person or what it sets up for his eventual developments. I wouldn’t be able to answer any of that because Mando is not a character, he’s an action figure. The fact that Disney is marketing Mando as “The Best Star Wars Series Yet” is fcking pathetic.
