Taking a look at the EFE Rail Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0 saddle tank...
The version I looked at was E85504 ' Amazon' in National Coal Board Green.
All views are my own.
Not a paid video.

Shouldn't need to push a new loco 😢. I'd consider returning it to be honest. Still it looks a cracking little model 😊. Cheers Euan

I do like it but I ended up giving up on N gauge because I just found they didn’t run as well as OO. TT might be good but I found OO to be just much more reliable

Really good review thanks. That's pretty poor that you need to give it a push to get it started again. I was considering getting one of these for a wee coalmine shunting layout but if they're all like this I don't think I'll bother.

thanks. maybe i was unlucky. if you fit a stay alive i think it will be very nice for a shunting layout. without a stay alive it will probably be v frustrating to operate though! maybe wait until the next batch to (hopefully) get one with a straight running plate though.

Hi Tim! It was all looking good until the stop / start problem! I wonder if the problem is more to do with needing some momentum to overcome the gearing rather than it being electrical? If the baseplate is out of true, could it be putting pressure on the gears, or even slightly bending the axels? Just a thought! But yes, stay alive's in all N Gauge locos with 6 wheels or less please! :) All the best, Ian.

hi ian! i'm not really sure. i didn't dare take it apart to look at how the components fit together or if there was some mechanical issue. im confident the stay alive will solve the issues. i may find someone to straighten out the running plate as well at a later date if anyone works out a fix! cheers. tim
