Effortless Dishwasher Maintenance: Tips for Longevity and Efficiency (Eco-Friendly Solutions)

For this week’s how-to we’re focusing on maintaining your dishwasher, and I’m sharing my tips on how to keep it running efficiently. I truly feel that if we look after our appliances, they will continue to look after you!
I’ll discuss eco-friendly dishwasher tablets that eliminate the need for separate rinse aid and salt, and I'll demonstrate cleaning techniques to ensure optimal performance.
I’ll show you how I clean the filter to remove debris using my favourite cleaning product of all time (long time followers, you’ll know what this is!), utilise a steam cleaner to kill bacteria and loosen stubborn dirt and use white vinegar and soda crystals for maintenance.

Thank you so much Charlie, that was so helpful.... my dishwasher had been rather neglected! But now is clean and gleaming. 😊 I dont have a steamer, but tried something rather random... I put my iron on steam and pressed the shoot out steam button, and it worked! I got the same results! Lol 😆

Loved this video! I also love my Miele dishwasher that I have had for about 5 years. I never thought of using a steamer to help clean it. Can you give more information about this tool? What else do you use it for? Carpet stains, upholstery, or is that different type of steamer?

Wonderful video Charlie. I have a Siemens dishwasher around 4 yrs old and its given me nothing but trouble. Yes it does a good job when its working but the motor has gone for the second time my repair man advises use of limescaler. My question is will the vinegar do the same job as the limescale tablets.I must admit I hadnt been using them on a regular basis. Had a Bosch for nearly twenty yrs prior to this one with no issues.

Please dont say you can exclude salt and rinseaid. Not everyone can do this because of the waterconditions in their area. If you reed the ownersmanual of miele dishwashers they advise you to use both. I had a dishwasher of another brand brake down because of not useing salt in the watersoftner. If you want to save money on the detergent use powder, the cheapest rinseaid och dishwasher salt you can find and it will leas costly and better for the environment. Miele has al the product inhouse but they expensive but can be worth the cost. I have had miele dishwashers for more then 20 years. But a do agree that takeing care of our appliances will make them last longer. The filter can actually be separated in 4 parts. Hold on to the filter part and turn the handle or the other way around, it is har the first time but will get easyer and you can clean the underside of the handle better. The better detergent you use the less manual cleaing is required. I use fairy/yes in sweden and finish the power and liquid depending on what i wash and how soiled the dishes are. Keep up the good work
