Today we're visiting the effortlessly elegant bedrooms and spectacular 19th century outbuildings of the Chateau de Brives, in Part 2 of our full chateau tour. I'm delighted to share this jewel box of a home with you. Cutting edge for its time (with a floating spiral staircase and en suite bathrooms for every bedroom!) the chateau had fallen into a dilapidated state when Sarah and George bought it, but they've spent the last 11 years completely renovating it with style, flair and vision...

This is hand down my favorite chateau you've ever shown!! Everything was so incredibly beautiful and so homey. It didn't feel too formal and has so many beautiful pieces of decor in it. The colors, the decor, the people and fantastic tour guides made this an amazing two part video!!

At 13:54, the wall shows pictures of vessels used to celebrate Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. There is a chalice, a cruet to hold wine and a monstrance ( with starlike decoration) to display the Blessed Sacrament. Beautiful chateau and the wedding pictures are so beautiful and elegant. It must be a dream come true to marry there.

It’s beautiful and they seem to love their lives. It’s nice that they live in the chateau. It seems like many who do big weddings don’t and only let them out to guests.

One of the framed pieces of toile in this chateau is the same “Love and Time” motif as the toile on the canopy for Stephanie’s bedroom at Lalande.

To Phillip's question about the iconography carved above the fireplace. The chalice depicts the wine used at communion representing the blood of Christ, The item with the small cross on top represents a 'Monstrance' that holds the communion bread (host) that has clear luna windows for viewing the host for benediction and for adoration. The ewer at bottom holds the water that Christ turned into wine at the Canna wedding miracle. Water is mixed with the wine and consumed at communion during Mass. This room may have been a private room for devotions or possibly secret mass at times of social strife or a room for the ill.

Quite beautiful interior! Cannot imagine upkeep and cost for this grand estate. The stairs would be a no go for me (bad knees) but it is truly a lovely place. Wonderful to see a lived in and loved chateau--bet all those other expats hope their chateaux will someday be as comfortable and elegant as this couple's! Thank you for sharing!!!

It would be so helpful to have additional mics when filming in groups. If someone speaks low or talks over another person (or has their back turned toward the camera) it's difficult to hear what's said. Thank you for the tour!

What a lovely chateau! It is so beautiful by the pool and with the architectural elements it is extraordinary. I am such a fan of the soft, gray-violet wall color in your daughter's bedroom! I have been collecting bedding for my guest room in that tone, it looks good with so many other colors...corals, pink, aqua, green, turquoise, red, gold, and of course black and white. It is much more versatile than you would guess, just looking at a sample. Really nice to see it on such a grand scale, on the walls! Loving all your collections, and your cooking is inspirational. A lovely chateau. They are all so different. This was had lots of personal pieces special to the owners which was quite nice. I’m also a quirky collector. I loved the cannon balls. They are interesting, beautiful in an odd way and have a crazy history. The wedding area was wonderful. Would be a wonderful spot for a festive occasion. They did a beautiful job bringing it back to life and making it productive again.

The wall color in their daughter's room is very similar to a color called "London Coach" that I used in my own bedroom. It's interesting because it appears to be different shades depending on the lighting. Sometimes it's a kind of taupe color. Sometimes grey, sometimes lavender.

Period correct but not overly so or overly stuffy and formal. Comfortable enough to live in yet elegant enough to host and entertain. The wall colors were perfect imo.

What an amazing tour of a beautiful chateau!! I love the decor with all of the wonderfully curated collections, and I hate that term because it’s so overused and normally not applicable.
