Speaking as an Industrial/Commercial Electrician of 56 years, what you call 'Tabs' we call a 'Buddy Tail' in the US. I do like 'Draw-through Tape' for 'Fish Tape'. It's interesting to see how you do things, especially your 'code book'. It actually seems easier to use when calculating conductors of different sizes.

What I love about this is the authenticity of working it out with a sharpie (not a black one because you’ve lost them all) on a bit of cardboard. 😅

Use split flexi conduit for the nylon draw tape as it's a lot easier than rewinding it back in... or get some velcro cable ties.

Nice job . I normally use the draw tape to pull in a draw wire a 2.5mm or a 4.0 mm single core cable.and for cable lubrication I use silicon grease ..like the conduit system 👍👍👍👍

Great videos. Just one point though.. I don’t mean to be pedantic, but an area of square millimetres is NOT the same as that number squared (which can be much larger).

According to the regs a comon earth can be used for both circuits as long as the larger earth wire is used for both circuits in the conduit
@alexlovett1991
@alexlovett1991 2 жыл бұрын
Not a spark, but I’m sure you can use the conduit itself as earth? (Provided it’s got the correct area to carry the rated current). Think jw did a vid on it.
@desmondyoung5963
@desmondyoung5963 2 жыл бұрын
@@alexlovett1991 I recolect that in the regs an earth wire has to be installing a metal conduit system as you can't rely on the contact of the metal parts as over time it could corrode on the threaded parts

I have a question and I was hoping somebody would have an answer in the UK it is regulation that consumer units need to be made of metal correct? Why is it that fire panels can be made of plastic?
@efixx
@efixx 2 жыл бұрын
Fire panels don’t handle high currents so the risk of a loose connection causing a fire is reduced.

Is the conduit calc to the conduit Box or the whole run ?
@davebodger2
@davebodger2 7 күн бұрын
It seems to me that he did the calc for the most complex (densely packed) part of the conduit between boxes. If it fits that then it will also fit the simpler parts for sure.

This contradicts what you said in the video on your other channel where you said you pull in one conductor at a time to avoid friction. Ie one way light loop in , in a conduit system.

Conduit work at 1st I used to tape bunches together that were being used together. Then woops a line is damaged had to pull the bunch out dam silly me I did think it made things easier it did on install but not for matenence. We all learn. The new as I call it push and screw fix is faster also when threading it is easy to under do it or over do it so the boxes don't align up. Also less tooling needed less to cary round. I always did see a 45 and 45 as two bends you now telling me it is one. So if I have a 45 going down running say 10 inch then a second 45 going up is it still one bend. How close dose it have to be to be only 1 bend. I know have too know the answer to that. So to picture it a straight run of 4 foot horizontal obstical is in the way so 45 going down running say 4 foot then 45 back up running back up to being horizontal 3 foot to terminal box.

The left part is the length of the cable run in meter, not the cross-sectional area of the conductor. In that table that one isn't even mentioned. And there's no 2.0mm², after 1.5 comes directly 2.5mm².

It's the cost of a spirado and the ability to actually get one. My last 25m cost somewhere close to £200. It only gets used to pull in drawwires with no load on it, then back into a canvas bag(old pillowcase) and copious wd40 sprayed on yo keep it good
