Esse é um dos maiores artistas da história do Brasil e eu tenho a honra de ter comprado em 1985 seu disco Trem Caipira, ele é um mago da musica instrumental do mundo. Orgulhos dele ser brasileiro.

Egberto, te conozco desde los años 70, musicalmente estás entre lo que más disfruto, placer, admiración, asombro... te escucho tranquilo, relajado, confiado, es como dejar que mis sentidos se muevan al ritmo del que sabe complacerlos

What a unique and interesting voice he has on the instrument; the quick wide intervallic patterns are amazingly modern sounding, and the way people's tastes tend to gravitate towards more obvious tonality, I suspect it will remain modern sounding, just like Coltrane still sounds modern. The creative spirit is what stands out for me; fantastic imagination!

Conheci Egberto Gismonti nos anos 80 e adorava sua música. Coloquei "Palhaço" no meu casamento. Hoje vejo e ouço sua genialidade.

Há tanto, mas tanto mais do que aquilo que vemos quando olhamos para Gismonti a tocar. É um mar de emoções, a transmissão directa e sem barreiras do mais profundo que uma cultura pode conter. É uma viagem extraordinária não só aos confins do Brasil mas também aos confins da alma humana. Por detrás de toda a arte autêntica reside exactamente isso, um ser humano nu mostrando aquilo que verdadeiramente nos une desmantelando toda a falsidade, todos os equívocos, todos os preconceitos. Mostra que estar vivo é uma maravilha que mesmo as mais negras circunstâncias não podem apagar.

He has always been one of my idols, but I see having not heard him in a long time. I was very or too much objective about it. I mean, he’s a master of the guitar and the piano for me sometimes I do play a lot of the same things, but I always try to make things different and varied for a man like that who has that much technique on both guitar and piano, I’d be creating new works. I know his work very well. If he listen to what he doesn’t guitar there the technique has gotten way sloppy he missed a whole bunch of notes which I understand. Expressions is cool but he wasn’t playing like that before I saw him live about 2530 years ago and it was very clean and very well executed this performance Was just sloppy and a lot of the same things over and over again I mean there’s nothing really new. I was just saddened in myself that I hadn’t heard anything new from him experiment. He’s a very experimental guy, but he’s just playing the same thing and I still love him and appreciate that he’s done to inspire, but I was also very saddened to find that this is what I walked away from. I didn’t listen to the rest of it because, as I kept stopping and listening and stopping and listening, I heard the same thing over and over again. I’m really sorry, Egberto:(

Gismonti's "music" has no artistic value whatsoever. He is not a jazzman; he is not a classical composer. His "music" is the most absurd thing ever: an academic folklore.

It is hard to think of a British or American equivalent to Egberto Gismonti. The Brazilian composer is at ease with everything from piano studies to full orchestra, taking an intensely polyrhythmic and contrapuntal approach to his craft.
