Egglettes are silicone pods that allow you to make hard boiled eggs without the shell. It took me a few attempts to get it to work right, and you can see my progress in this 4-day overview.

For the egg timer you have to crank it all the way around then turn it back to the time you desire. You will then get a nice longer bell ringing. All hand crank timers are like this. Hope this helps for future timings 😃

I have this set of Egglettes without the holder.. I tried your final solution for my hardboiled tonight.. 16 minutes after I sprayed heavily, not with Pam, but with an Olive Oil spray.. It was glorious.. they popped right out... Thank you sir for your trial and error. I was about to put mine in a yard sale.. Not anymore.. Deviled eggs for me...

I have that same egg-shaped timer. You have to "wind" it all the way up by taking it to the full 60 minutes, then crank BACK to the desired time. If you don't do that, you get what you got. Because "winding" for just the 3 or 5 minute range is not enough to get it to ring.

My grandma is in her 80's and got a set, she loves them. She stopped making boiled eggs about 5 years ago because she can't peel the shells off anymore, destroying half the eggs trying to get them off, but with these she's finally able to make them again. I use them for scrambled eggs personally when I go over to help take care of my grandpa, and I like them almost as much as she does. Personally, the only complain that I had, and she had it as well, is that you only get enough for half a dozen, which kinda sucks whenever you like to make eggs by the dozens.

You deserve massive credit for your thoroughness and for not giving up! I lost the will to live about a third of the way through! Boiled eggs: take eggs. Put in pan of cold water. Bring to boil. Boil for 3 mins for soft/4 mins for medium/5 -6 mins for hard. Run cold water over eggs. Roll eggs over hard surface pressing to crack the shell all over. Peel. Think I'll stick to this method 😄

I've got the Egglettes and love them. I use Pam, and my finger to make sure it's totally covered. I break the eggs in a glass first to make sure I don't get a bad egg or a piece of shell then pour it in. So far I haven't needed a spoon to get them to come out. The greatest thing is that I don't have to peel the egg! I highly recommend the Egglettes!

My wife purchased from an ad on fb. She paid $31 for 6. They did not come with the cool little egg holder that you had, nor did they come with a timer. She could have purchased only 3 but that would have cost her $15. OH....and it did not come with instructions whatsoever. They did not pop like the advertisement. She had to scrap them out with a knife and there was residue. Now, she watched your review after trying to make them. She agrees that you must spray the poo out of the silicon to get them to slide out. She doesn't have to crack, roll and peel any more. She gives them a 4 rating only because she had no instruction or the extras that yours came with. Plus she paid way more then you did for what you received. Thank you for the review. We are now subscribers to your channel.

I just bought the egglets from Walmart. There were four in a pack and they did not come with a timer or the holder. I washed them thoroughly and used them this morning. The problem I ran into was they started to tilt without having a holder when in the pot after several minutes. I ended up putting a butter knife through two of the little handles and draping it across the edges of the pot so that they wouldn't turn over. This works efficiently tho a bit of a hassle. I used olive oil in mine and spread it around generously with my finger but I wasn't able to just pop them out. I found if I inserted a spoon just into the tip it broke the seal and then they would pop out. I didn't need to go all the way around with the spoon. I started out with cooked sausage and egg and cheese and did them for 13 minutes. They didn't quite get done as much as I wanted so the upper end of the hard boiled egg time is better for eggs that have other ingredients I found for my taste. They got thoroughly done that way and they tasted great. Other than tipping over in the water while boiling they worked exactly as I expected and I had no residue issues after they were popped out. But thanks for your video, it was great. I didn't even know they came with a little holder but I would say for me that would be worth the extra cost. I used my microwave timer. I wish it came with a smaller holder because that looks like it will only fit in a big pot and if you only want to do a couple you have to boil a lot of water for that so that seems a bit wasteful. But thanks again for your video. It was very detailed. I'm going to try hard boiled eggs for deviled eggs next time and see how that comes out. I have to agree with you about the funky way they cut them. But they look a little open-ended if you cut them the Long Way unlike if you boil them in the shell. That's going to be interesting.

Just a tip using mechanical egg timer. You always have to turn the clock fully and then select the time you want it to count. 1. Wind the clock to the max (60 minutes) 2. Turn the timer to desired minutes (like 8 minutes for example) Works every time.

I ordered these and did not really have the same issues you had. There was no sticking to the insides but I did use PAM spray on them. I know they are saying that this can be used for any eggs and they can, but I think that they are best utilized when using something like eggbeaters or just a jar a egg whites. Anyway, I like them and they helped me out when taking care of my aging parents ( no eating shells). I could make a batch for the week on Sunday and not have to worry about it while at work.

Not sure if anyone already said, but the red timer is old school type non electronic. You have to wind it past the point needed then back to set whatever time you need. The further you wind it the longer the bell will sound. Hope that made sense... LOL Short example: need 2 min, turn to 15or20min then back to the 2 min mark. It will be loud and should work well. With those egg timers, you are supposed to give them a good turn, to winde them up, and then go to the time you want. Without winding them correctly the timer ticks slower and rings like a depressed clock. Wind them up, give them a full turn and then go to your 2-3 minutes. With a full turn, the timer runs correctly, with the right power and also rings much louder.

The easiest way to get the egg out is to oil spray the inside and boil a full 15 minutes in already boiling water. Put in pot of cool water. Not for long. Like a few minutes. As they are cooling you simply squeeze the silicone bottom tipping the egglette upside down. KEEPING THE SCREW TOP LID TIGHTENED STILL. Just a slight squeeze to release the pressure on the inside. There is a tiny hole on top of the lid that when you’re slightly squeezing the air out of the lid of the container, the egg will release from the bottom without residue. Then while keeping your egglette upside down loosen the lid. Your egg on the inside will be loose on the inside and will plop right out. No spoon needed and your shell less hard boiled egg is perfect! Just a simple hot water rinse and you can boil again.

I hard boil eggs in an Instant Pot. Never been easier. Easy to regulate how done you want the eggs. The best part is removing the egg shells. The shells practically slide off with little effort. No sprays, cleaning is a breeze. Love it. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.

Great review thank you! One thing I would say is that they would be very good to use if you aren't sure how fresh your eggs are exactly, you are cracking them and seeing/smelling what's inside before cooking which could be useful depending on the situation! 😁

I was always told to put your eggs in water. If they sink and lay on there side they are fresh. If they sink and stand on their end they are less fresh but still ok to eat. If they float to the top they are rotten, please throw out. Never gotten sick off an egg yet and don’t have to smell rotten eggs.

I bought mine at the Dollar Tree for a buck and used them twice without any problems but I returned to my old ways thereafter. If you don't like peeling eggs, then get a set. But, I like to boil a dozen and leaving them in the fridge for a week to peel and eat as needed. If they are pre-peeled their storage life would be limited to only a few days I suspect. But, I might use them again to make egg salad sandwiches to avoid peeling.

Thank you for the review. I was looking at getting this product for my rather particular mom and I think she will like it. More cleanup but less work to eat it since she has to peel the egg then scrape the yolk out for her liking. Thanks!

They exist because people, and especially the elderly, have a hard time peeling off the shell from hard boiled eggs done the traditional way without destroying the eggs in the process. My grandma bought a set and loves them because it's the first time in half a decade that she's been able to cook boiled eggs without having somebody else's help. The only complaint I have is that they don't give you a full dozen.

I just don't understand why you can't just poach eggs the regular way if the water is already going to be boiling, or why you can't just crack the eggs into a muffin tin and bake them! Because it's going to give you a similar shape to these things (flat bottomed, etc) but you only have to clean one tray!
@domeatown
@domeatown 6 жыл бұрын
you could even put the muffin tin into a bain marie and basically boil them in the oven with less risk of dumping water on yourself as an elderly person.

About 8 years ago I bought a couple of Eggies. I used them maybe twice. They were more trouble than they were worth, especially after I learned that if you transfer your eggs directly from the boiling water to a bowl of cold water filled with Ice the shells peel right off once they've cooled.

My wife and I eat a lot of eggs on the "Paw-Paw" diet but I personally dislike boiled eggs (can't get passed the texture of the egg white, albumen). We bought the Egglettes a couple of week ago and didn't have any of the problems you had. We decided to get the Egglettes to make "hard-boiled' omelettes. The only problem we had was that the Egglettes would fill up with water when we boiled them. The egg was still edible but it would shrink to about half what it should be. The solution was to boil them at a very slow boil so the water didn't agitate the Egglettes as much and no water got in the vent hole at the top. We didn't get the "deluxe" version so no holder to keep them from bobbing around and tipping. We didn't have the problem of sticking or hard clean-up possibly because my wife uses coconut oil to coat the inside. We have found that coconut oil is much cheaper in the long run than spray oil. All-in-all we are very pleased with our purchase and use them quite often.

I love my Egglettes! I have been successfully using them to make egg-salad sandwiches for years. The best thing about them is not having to removing all the bits and pieces of the shell after the eggs are cooked. I spray them as suggested with about three sprays per egg. I noticed that when you were cleaning them that you left the silicone cup in the red plastic ring. I don't have the holder, I just suspend my Egglettes in the water using some bamboo chopsticks. LOVE YOUR REVIEWS! 👍🧡👍 😎

I purchased these recently but hadn't used them yet so this is super helpful. going to do a ramen tonight with a nice 10 minute semi-runny egg. this product is for me, I've tried every hack and simply cannot peel a shell cleanly! I am excited to try to add different omelette elements to a hard boiled egg, thinking some cooked bacon chunks, cheese and chives! definitely makes for an ugly deviled egg, maybe wouldn't serve them to company but for a midnight snack I'm all about it! great vid, thank you! honestly I saw the preview and thought "16 MINUTES?" then I sat rapt through the whole thing.

Love Your show. You have been the ultimate deal maker/breaker for many as seen on TV buys I commit to. Just a pointer. Any thing that winds up to time, always turn past 20 min and bring back to the time you want me 2-3 min or so. This will allow the mechanism to get enough kenetic energy make it back to zero, as well as winds up the mechanism that causes the bell to ring. I have this kind of timer on many appliances, but have also used many a cheapo wind-up egg timer. It's something you just learn... With time lol.

I have them, but they only cost £5.OO on Ebay which in dollars is around 3 and a half dollars. What made me laugh was your egg timer because my egg timer did exactly the same. The timer went off but the ticking carried on lol. I melted some butter in the microwave then brushed the melted butter around the inside of the container. When I emptied the eggs out I did this on a kitchen paper towel as I did not like the eggs being wet. You really do have to make sure that the lids are on properly otherwise water gets into the egg and leaves the eggs watery and tasteless. All in all I like them as I have put some Spinach Cheese and a little ham in and tastes really nice.

Great review, as always! A friend and I tried Eggies a few years ago and had a blast..never laughed so hard in our lives! Eggies had teeny thin 'gaskets' which had to be oiled separately and kept getting lost on our counter because they were almost transparent. (We lost two of the gaskets forever when we were cleaning up.) No matter how well we oiled or sprayed the insides, egg stuck to the plastic. In a side by side, Eggies vs boiling eggs the old fashion way, we had cleaned up and were eating deviled eggs just as the Eggies were finished cooking. When faced with cleaning out those Eggies again and losing more gaskets, we decided to throw the Eggies in the trash. LOL People have dealt with imperfect hard boiled eggs since forever and lived through it. There are tips and tricks on the internet for getting them out of the shell. Time spent looking for and trying those tips is faster and easier than using the Eggie. I don't see that the Eglette is better. Why spend more time preparing and cleaning an extra kitchen gadget? Gadgets should make life easier!!!!!!

I watched the Egglettes commercial after seeing your video and I swear those 'cooked eggs' they showed "popping" out of their contraption were regular hardboiled eggs they used. They had that peeled egg shape. They used that popping sound and one of the eggs popped out and THEN you heard the popping sound....which tells me the entire commercial is a LIE! They used hardboiled eggs, put them into their 'egglette' and simply lifted the egglette off of the boiled eggs and then added the nice 'popping' sound at the wrong times. What a sham! Thank you so much for YOUR review! I think this item might be useful to some people, but I preferred the standard method of boiling eggs after all. :-)

Boy, I had completely different results with mine. 9 minutes with PAM spray came out perfectly soft boiled and they popped out without much effort, mostly without the requirement of a spoon. Didn't get the timer or the collar. Just use the electronic timer on my microwave/ oven and pop them into a pot of boiling water independently. I LOVE mine. I'm easily having soft boiled eggs every day and NO shells to crack! Yummy!
