The Eggcentric Egg lady is featuring today another new fun and exciting video. However, this is a video focused on the basics you will need to know about eggshell and polymer clay in many designs moving forward. I have been holding back on this for a very long time…and it is time to share with each of you precious eggers out there… so I hope you will continue to check in on me and join me on my journey in the creating of fun and new discoveries in eggshell designs using not only colored pencils, but now polymer clay as well….so please, CHECK IT OUT!!
I also hope you will RING THE BELL!! If you have already subscribed, but still didn’t ring the bell…Please, Do so! This way you will not miss out on any of my new videos, and you’ll be able to be one of the first who can make comments below on them!
I do wish to address something that is connected to and with this video. I have been receiving some very negative and unkind comments on how I drain my egg/s here on this video. For clarification, this is not how I normally drain my eggs in regards to the "waste" of the egg or the water involved. The eggs I drain are normally eaten and used. The water was a one time event for this video only. This being said, I should not have to explain myself to anyone and presently, it will be the last time. I will not be put down or have anyone else be put down on my channel for trying to share knowledge freely that either I have built up over the years without any guidance from anyone or other people being put down for asking or understanding what I do here on my channel and being ridiculed for it. So, with this in mind, if you intend to leave a mean, cruel or unkind comment here on this video or on this channel, understand it will be removed and tossed into my virtual trash can, never to be seen or thought of again. If this causes you to unsubscribe from my channel, I would say, " I hope you find another channel more to your liking and may peace go with you." ...otherwise, please, If you have nothing good or kind to say, then don't say anything at all. Thank you.

Yeah! I have been hoarding eggshells waiting for you to do this! I have 36 waiting ,lol😂. I just hold the eggs over a bowl, and family gets scrambled ggs or French toast, or you can use them for pancakes or whatever uses 2:43 egg. Love those videos so excited! ❤🎉

This is so interesting. Thanks for sharing. One thing and I have to be Nelly nerd, but bleach is not acidic, it's a base. It has a high alkalinity with a pH level around 11. This base disintegrates organic matter. An acidic products such as vinegar will breakdown eggshells.

LOLOL!!! You are most welcome and soooo totally right!! Thank you for that correction. Unfortunately when I filmed this my brain switched it! LOL!! I may be an artist, but I very much appreciate science. I can just imagine the look on my high school teachers face….again Thank you and sending you my best wishes and hugs!! 🤗👍🏻❤️

Well, I think it's been done for ages like this : the egg's contents don't come out b/c of the pressue so if you make just two holes with a needle (both ends) , it doesn't matter how small, jab the egg's inside with that needle a couple of times you'll be able just blow air into one hole and it will push the yolk & white easily through the other hole. Preferably to a bowl to make some food of it. And you have the shell without those big holes.

Thank you for your comment here. And I understand the pressure thing. However, the idea for me is to have as few of holes (1 only) as possible. And since that is the case, especially with a small hole, there can be enough pressure to "pop" the egg. Which has happened to me many times. Many of those times is due mainly to an unseen crack in the shell itself, but I still try to do this carefully so I don't stress the shell too much. And yes, I push that yolk through that one hole and use it for food. A lot of my designs require one hole and the larger openings are okay with me since I add in the clay as a base and luminate the shell. When the base is attached early into my process, it becomes easy to design on. Plus, another added feature is that the base can keep my egg art/work consistent. Example: it's like framing everything in different colored mats. The eye will look at the matte not the work, where as if you keep it consistent say all black matte...the work is seen and not overlooked.

@@theeggcentricegglady This is definitely a very fragile art and requires a sure hand as well as lots of experience ! Thank you :)

Doesn't this waste the edible part of the egg? Is there a way to do this that doesn't waste them?
@anniesexton57

Just do this over a bowl, and then you can rinse them out . 😊

Also, why run the faucet the whole time?
@theeggcentricegglady
@theeggcentricegglady 6 ай бұрын
@@Sarabella68 The reasoning for this is to control the cracking. Most all eggs are either formed in water, around it, and hold water or liquid in the form of its egg. And instead of taking my chances of cutting the shell in "the dry" as I call it, where the egg might create cracks where I don't want them, I place the egg under running water. You can use a bowl of water to help in this too. I had to use the faucet for video purposes. I do hope this helps. Hugs!! :)

Pretty cool -- KZfaq recommended this video to me, I thought it was going to be some sort of effect for polymer clay from adding crushed egg shells 🙂A couple things to mention, you said that bleach is an acid; it's actually an alkali/base, not an acid. An acid would eat away at the shell itself. The other thing was, rather than using a knife to cut the clay off of the tile, in my experience you can just put paper onto the surface you're baking it on and the clay won't adhere to it. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for this!! I get those things messed up!! LOLOL!! I appreciate the clarification. As you can tell, chemistry was not my forte!! LOLOL!! And you are right on the paper part too. I think the reason I use the tile is because I can be a klutz at times and having the egg sort of adhered to the tile helps me without me dumping over the eggs accidentally. LOLOLOL!! I hate to admit it, but so true...Again, thank you for your comment here and your compliment!! Sending you my hugs! :)

Just found this about a week or two after our interchange about this very subject! Talk about serendipity! So wanted to come here just to say thanks for making these vids 🫡🫶✌️ (btw, tip for joining clay strands; cut ends at extreme angles then it will join almost seamlessly with minimal burnishing thus avoiding distortion 😊)

@theeggcentricegglady I also use this tip when joining any raw clay edges such as wrapping a cane, cut the ends (straight across that is) at angles and they will seam together so much more smoothly! Btw thx for the compliment!🤭

Do you save the bleach and reuse it later for more eggs or does it need to be thrown out? I really appreciated the info you shared! You have a new fan!

Hi Miss Christine!! Thank for your comment and your kind support here!! I keep using the bleach until I wear it out… And usually you can tell this when the bleach turns to a clear liquid instead of a yellow. And you can bleach out quite a few eggs before that happens. Sending you hugs!! 🤗👍🏻❤️

I am really enjoying your videos. I've been wanting to try doing the eggs for the last 2yrs. So this year, I'm hoping I feel confident enough to try it. I was also wondering how long you leave the eggs in the oven. Thank you for being such an inspiration.

Awwww, thank you for your kind compliment, lady!! And just know...I am your cheerleader!! YOU GO, GIRL!! LOL!! Seriously, though...you can do this!! When it comes to baking the eggs it is usually 7-15 minutes depending on the thickness of the clay involved. And I do hope I will continue to inspire you here through my videos on this channel. And just an FYI...you can also find a few...going to be more egg designs on my clay channel too, if you haven't seen my stuff there. Just search for my name, Laura Schiller...there's a clay and egg playlist. Sending you my biggest of big hugs...and goood luck!! :)

How long do you soak the egg in bleach. I tried. But my egg got brittle and broke
@theeggcentricegglady
@theeggcentricegglady 3 ай бұрын
The best advice I have here is to place a base on the egg before working on it. Every time I place a clay base on my eggshell, the fragility factor goes way down. This due to the fact that of course when I clay, glue in and bake the base on the eggshell, it gives the shell a durability that would not otherwise be there. I then bleach the eggshell. If you are carving or cutting in the shell, bleach after you carve. I do hope that helps. Sending you hugs!! 🤗👍🏻❤️
