EGO, needs to make this available in the U.S.! I love their tools, but the roto-cut isn't available over here. (There is a third-party option available.)

Have you had to do any servicing on it yet or had the need to put gear grease in it yet? If so what have you used that's available in Australia?

The solid edger I have doesn’t make as wide a cut as the scissors did.
@tembryebb2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, nice review. Using this in lieu of whipper snipper how would it go against rendered walls and decking? Would it scratch or mark them if it hit?
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
You might notice a few marks on my retaining wall. That is from the whipper snipper. The rotor cut (if you don’t smack into the surface hard) will not mark much. The blades are so close they won’t catch. You sort of skip on the surface if that makes sense. The pole of the verandah was already missing the paint as it is rather old.

Thank You for the great review. Only wish I had seen it earlier. I was tossing up between getting a dedicated line trimmer or the Multi Tool Power Head unit with line trimmer attachment. Went with the dedicated trimmer. Pity the Rotocut can't be fitted to all the dedicated line trimmers EGO manufactures. The Blowers are sensational, I hear a Blower / Vac unit might be on the way too. Cheers.

Great genuine review!! I have the same tool and use it on my couch grass after mowing with the cylinder. It is one solid built piece and my arms ache from using it and need to have a rest and go again. One thing that would make the the best lawn tool ever would be a height adjustment. If only it could sit lower as the base place is not so flat so I don't have to tilt it and could just run it along the lawn at whatever low setting you want. Do you feel that is something you would like improved?
@lawnporn11 ай бұрын
I think it’d be amazing if there was a slighter bevel on the edge and flatter on the bottom. If you get my meaning
@Earthau2 жыл бұрын
Any tips of what not to do Matt to prolong the life of the blades, like how do they go around sand, stones and the like? And do you have to add oil or grease to the heads of the Rotary Scissors and Edger? Great review, Thank you!
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
You know what, in the out takes I talk about that I was not confident that it would stay sharp if it is used as an edger like the solid edger if you know what I mean.
@chevron9162 жыл бұрын
How do you find this compares with the Idech? I notice the Idech has a flat, base. Does the Ego have a flat base that allows the blade to ‘float’ above the grass.
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried the idech so I can’t say. I do like the slight bulge of the Ego as it helps it float so it doesn’t dig in. Super low lawn cuts though you sort of need to andel like I do in the vid.

The rotocut is an expensive attachment. Despite the expense I bought one. I use it as to cut grass around trees in my orchard. Previously I used the brush cutter attachment which worked very well at cutting back long grass. However operating a brush cutter around a tree is nerve wracking as a mishap can easily happen resulting in a damaged tree. The rotocut by comparison is much more controllable and aspire to use around trees.

TIL Australians refer to string trimmers as whipper snippers. Most people in the US call them Weedwhackers, which is a name brand.
@lawnporn2 жыл бұрын
Cheers for that. I had heard the term weed whacker but didn’t know it was a brand.
@zaineridling2 жыл бұрын
People in a couple of regions call them weedeaters, which was a brand name for the device sold in the 1970s. Now, most people in the US call them string trimmers, which separates from hedge, brush, etc. trimmers. I think Canadians refer to them as strimmers. 😊

There are adaptor collars for shafts to marry to an IDECH landscape blade. EGO are the same I believe. Count the splines on the shaft, buy to suit and enjoy. I have most of the EGO multi tool range and it is all awesome.
