Your videos bring back wonderful memories for me. Thank you! By the way, the rather grand building overlooking the Nile at 5:30 in your video is the 5-star 'Old Cataract Hotel', built in 1899 by Thomas Cook. Former guests included Winston Churchill, Howard Carter (Egyptologist who discovered the Tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922), Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana. Also Agatha Christie stayed there in 1937 when she was writing her novel 'Death on the Nile'. Her book was made into a memorable and evocative film in 1978 (with an all-star cast), which features the actual hotel - back and front - in a handful of scenes, as well as some of the many famous sites along the Nile. The Kenneth Branagh movie version of the novel was made in 2022. The Old Cataract Hotel used to be open to non-visitors, for example to 'take afternoon tea'(!) on the terrace overlooking the Nile, but that became a residents-only treat after the hotel was closed and given a major overhaul in 2008 by the Sofitel group, re-opening in 2011. You made a good choice going to Philae Temple, which is one of my favourites! By the way, you mention once or twice prices in 'Pounds', but it should be mentioned that I think you are talking Egyptian Pounds. In October 2023, one Egyptian Pound is worth *0.027* British Pounds or *0.032* US dollars. So the price of the ferry across the Nile to the West Bank you mention at 18:00 in the video, which is 5 Egyptian Pounds, is worth 13 British pence or 16 US cents. Not bad!! I am loving your videos of Egypt.
