The mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut is not in Luxor. Neither is it in the Valley of the Kings. As a much younger man I walked across the hill from the VOK to the escarpment above the temple of Hatshepsut. Alsas, I will never be able to do this again because of age.

Hapshepsut was notorious for the Al Qaeda attack that happened there, they stood on the cliffs surrounding the temple,a lot of people died there.

The artisans must have been small in stature for those cramped quarters. I wonder if the drawings on their walls were practice for carving.

Awesome video. My son and I are traveling to Egypt in May. We are completely planning our trip and not using a company, a little scary. How many hours did you use your driver? How much total did you pay your driver and did you use the same one this entire day? Thanks again

It’s best to get a taxi for entire day. You will just negotiate once. In some parts finding a taxi is time consuming and difficult , for example at the valley of the artisans. For this video we went to about 3 locations and it was most for most of the day. The taxi was 400 Egyptian pounds. Don’t pay above 1000 Egyptian pounds for the day. Get air conditioned car if possible. For a 300 mile trip we hired a minibus for 1800 Egyptian pounds. Gives you an idea of prices there. Pay in local currency not pounds or dollars. Negotiate full price for day. Pay end of day. Have a great time. It’s not a scary place. Careful with cats and dogs. Rabies risk.

@@SharetheWonder thanks so much for responding. Last question, where did you exchange your money and did you feel comfortable Carrying a lot of money with you and what if you have money leftover can you exchange it back at the airport? Thanks so much for your videos, very helpful.

@@AvaRose00it’s best to withdraw from ATM from main banks. The ATMs are everywhere and the exchange rate is better. You don’t have to withdraw a lot each time. I used a Wise / revolut card

@@SharetheWonder thank you for replying! I just got off the phone with my bank. I get charged a fee and 3% for every atm Transaction. So I’m going to order money ahead of time. My question is what “size” bills should I get? I would think a lot of 1 EGP? We are staying from may 8th to May 22. Thanks again!

@@AvaRose00I used a currency card called Wise and another called Revolut so the exchange we were getting at the ATM worked out to almost bank to bank rates. The exchange on the street and in airport was ridiculous about 15% commission. As for notes. If you wish to give to kids and beggars then bring lots of 1 EGP. But I didn’t have any problems using 10,20,50 100 denominations.

Hi, did you negotiate the 50le price for the boat if you dont mind me asking?
@SharetheWonder11 ай бұрын
From Luxor to cross the Nile to the west side it was 50 Egyptian pounds in May2023. Their inflation is crazy so prices maybe have gone up a little. Yes every trip is a negotiation. It was 50 EGP for the boat regardless of number of passengers. Don’t accept their prices, Just hold firm and walk away . One of them will give in to you, most will take the 50 rather than be without business. Good luck and have a great trip!

@@SharetheWonder I live in Luxor, I use the ferry to cross to the West Bank it costs 10le return. Not used the motorboat in a while, was surprised at the 50le. Hope you enjoyed your time here 😊

Hahaha, you must see us tourists make the same mistakes everyday. They moved the public ferry location so we just gave up trying to find it and coughed up 50 each way. It’s less than 1 GBP so it was nothing really. Getting ripped of is paying 4 GBP for a Starbucks coffee. Egypt was great. You must love it there
@janebartle229611 ай бұрын
Absolutely £4 for coffee, you have to be rich or deluded to make that mistake. The ferry has moved near the hospital as you head toward Karnak Temple. Like you say less than £1 for the motorboat. However, seeing tourists ripped off always makes me sad. It just discourages tourism. In Luxor, they rely on tourists as there is no industry, but they don't always know how to treat them well. Having said that Luxor is a great place to be. Tell your friends 😉

I'm going to Luxor in October with my mother and niece, would you recommend us using a guide with a driver when we go to the Valley of the kings and Hatshepsut's palace or should we be ok if we go by taxi? Does the taxi driver wait for you? Anyway sorry for asking so many questions, your video was brilliant! I can't wait to be there! 😁😁
