He has been giving seminars and trainings since 2002 and wrote several books about it: breathing. Or, in other words: closing your mouth. In this episode, we welcome international practitioner, author and breathing expert Patrick McKeown to our studio!
Ever since Patrick was a child he struggled with asthma. Due to the lack of adequate sleep he couldn’t focus or concentrate and was not able to reach his full potential as a teenager. It all changed when he discovered a technique that helped him breathe differently.
Patrick speaks about his mission to empower people to take back control of their lives, simply by using his breathing techniques that have proven to improve body oxygenation.
The exercise seems simple: just breath through your nose. But are you still capable of keeping your mouth closed during an intense workout? How does this technique affects our training? And what impact does it have on child development?

I shaved my moustache so tape would stick. I am 74 with asthma and a couple of stents and have been tapping my mouth for 7days and get up more refreshed. Good so far.

Patrick changed my life 10 years ago am now 51 and living my best life also James Nestor and Max Strom. Lost my Dad as well so important breathing correctly.

I am a compulsive breath holder so I know I have breathing issues. I have listened to different people who are teaching breathing and so far I really like this guy the most. And I’m sure to no surprise I suffer from low back pain. And he talked about the work of Weston A. Price - an amazing and much too ignored book.

I had for over 40 years asthma like symptoms. No more since taping mouth shut and focusing during the rest of the day and exercise on keeping my mouth shut. If I have the inkling of an air spasm, I breathe in and out and hold my breath for like 7 seconds and after that it's smooth sailings again. Before, I would go from bad to worse.

This guy just made my Wim Hof Method even better. I think Wim Hof is on point as he always says do not force. These two should sit down and chat, they could bounce ideas off each other and change the world even better

Sports, yes, but music also definitely teaches breathing, self-control, teamwork, responsibility, social empathy, patience, perseverance, resilience and many other virtues. :-) Great topic, thank you very much for doing this!

Wow, what a great podcast! Being a person practicing Vipassana I especially like Patrick mentioning concentration and emotional state as a key points to happy living. Not many Western researchers mention it.
