In this video we are having a look inside the Einhell TE-AP 18 Li-Solo Cordless universal saw. Whilst cutting some timber as part of a demolition job the smoke started pouring out.
Let's find out why it failed!

My one made it through hundreds of cuts in hydraulic metal cored hosepipe until it started smoking. Excellent tool! Still works fine if is not overloaded

This month I buy a new power tool, or a reciprocating saw from Parkside or Skil or a multi oscillating tool from Bosch, a Bosch PMF 220 CE, or PMF 2000 CE. Keep up the good work!

I bought the TE-AP 18 Li-Solo but changed my mind, sent it back, and bought a TE-AP 18/28 - the extra power, longer cut depth, and swivelling body should be useful in the garden

I have the Ozito named one of these and I do like the easy to use blade connector but what I do *loathe* is the stupid "safety switch." I have small hands and yes it's true what they say and my small hands make it bloody awkward to hold the safety switch in when I press the *go trigger.* Mine is unfortunately not the brushness model and it did like to overheat however the thermal protection stopped it from releasing the magic self destruction whispy "fumes." A useful tool for my use around the home but I would sure like the brushless range but in Oz they are about one third more expensive than the brush version. Due to that I will keep buying the brush version which will enable me to buy a few more of their cheap tools.

Hai, i have the same one. Did a bit to heavy on her an she began to smoke, and stopped working. It was my own fault. But i tear it down an give the engine some smacks, an blew air in it. Suddenly it starts working again. A few more hits en airblow and it works !!! Try it please and response to me

Hi Ronald, I did managed to get the motor working again by cleaning it and reseating the brushes but as the saw mechanism got damaged due to the 2 screws which came loose during operation I returned the saw to Einhell anyway. Their 3 year warranty is pretty hassle free. I have a new one to play with now ;)

Only 3 year warranty? The Ozito 18v range down here have a 5 year one with only 3 years on the batteries.

How is your replacement holding up? Some of these have just come in stock (in the Ozito brand) and for the price and 5 year warranty, I think I might pick one up.

The second one also went up in smoke after a few weeks of use. I think these saw’s have a cooling issue. I’ll might do a second video to see what went wrong with the second one. You might be better off buying the brushless version if they offer those where you are located.

@@toolteardown Unfortunately they don't have the brushless version down here. I will try my luck and lean on the warranty if need be. I always have my trusty corded heavy for backup in a pinch. Look forward to your video if you choose to find out the reason.

As of 23 October 2023 Bunnings have a brushless version for AUD$169. I believe the brushless was available before the mentioned date but that was more to indicate the time and price time frame.
