Check out season 1 of FLCL(Fooly Cooly)from 2000 or 2001. It's great comedy and one of the few subs that is done remarkably well. Also sorry I'm 2 years late to the party.

I disagree. I feel the last episode landed with a punchy, powerful message, and any kind of continuation would kind of muddy up the legacy. I do think there should be more anime like this where we have this sort of character dynamic, I give you that, but I feel that it stands strongly enough on it's own to leave an impact, and a second season would be redundant (unless its done amazingly well).

That was one of the best shows of the season. Live drama version is good too (but quite different). they were adapted from the same manga but they were in simultaneous production and they tell the same story but in very different ways. it has Saito Asuka, Yamashita Mizuki & Umezawa Minami from Nogizaka46 in the starring roles.
