My take is this; this group should maintain their originality that is the way they are,they shouldn't try to be modernize like buying modern instruments, microphones, drums because I have seen many groups after succeeding and sought out by the public, they went original and became irrelevant.

Can you write the words Igbo?
@8AUGS Жыл бұрын
Even when written out, the words hold deeper meanings and can't be translated literally. They are rooted in "Ilu", igbo word for parables, proverbs, idioms, etc.

@chinwezenwankwo5599 Жыл бұрын
Very difficult to do. They are all Igbo idioms and proverbs. Literal translation is not easy at all.
@lovelyfavour3917 Жыл бұрын
The first and original source of this song is Masquerade called Ajofia....which means evil forest. Type "Mawalum Oji" to get that lyric and take a view of the dangerous masquerade. These words weren't just parables only, they were laced in incantation. They generally belong to collection of very ancient songs called "Surugede" translated as "songs and dance of sprits". These existed way way before the arrival of the Portuguese in 1400. Portuguese have these in documentation in their museums. The reason while these ancients stuffs are absent are 1. Christianity. 2. Feminism. Feminism mostly because women were never allowed to see or sing these spiritual songs. Neither were women allowed to see these genre of masquerades. Even men who were not initiated do not near these masquerades. Fast forward...with education, christianity and Igbo culture haven accepted and loved their sisters as equals...it does appear that these unique and distinct songs, dance and masquerades have for now gone extinct...yet they are out there. A little dog and you find all that truth hidden out there. They are there behind the facade of our civilization.
