Ek Nai Paheli is a 1984 Hindi feature film directed by K. Balachander, starring Raaj Kumar, Hema Malini, Kamal Haasan, Padmini Kohlapure and Suresh Oberoi. It is a remake of the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal by the same director.
Upendranath, a widower lives a wealthy life and his only son, Sandeep is a headstrong and stubborn young man. He leaves his dad's house to make his own life. He meets a beautiful older woman Bhairavi who is a singer. Both Bhairavi and Sandeep fall in love with each other and decide to marry, but a man, Avinash now arrives and claims as the husband of Bhairavi, moreover he meets Sandeep as well and tells his story. He also speak about their daughter, Kajri. Climax reveals that, Kajri lives with the much older Upendranath and plan to marry as well. What would be the fate of Bhairavi, Sandeep and Avinash??

This story is unique. Bhairavi lost her daughter and when Sandeep came into her life he fulfilled all her voids. Child, Love and companion. Same with Raj Kumar and Padmini. Age is nothing i agree but society frowns upon it even today. We all deserve love and an honest companion. Its hard to find these days

After seeing Sri Vidya in tamil original...i understand why Adurthi subbarao rejected Hema Malini in his audition for "..Tenemanasulu "..and taken Sukanya and Sandhya Rani..( Telugu..where Mahesh Babu 's dad Krishna was introduced) Hema Malini later appeared in same Telugu industry first with a dance bit in senior NTR ji' s srikrishna pandaveeyam.. before entering Bollywood.. Rekha ' entry also was a Telugu movie "Amma kosam ".. As second heroine..you can't even recognise her in that movie...

What a movie, what a music. If you miss it, you miss a lot. To describe acting and particularly facial expressions of Hemamalini are superb and her buity no words. Kamal hassan is as usual kamaal. Rajkumar and kolhapuri at their best. Different story line and good hands of direction.
