I totally loved them & I still love to watch them skate!! There's been a lot of good pair skaters & there still is but no couple comes closer than Katia & Sergio in my eyes. They have it all!! I nvr sto watching them They're so inspiring & by watching them Mae's me feel so full of love & makes every new day such a blessing. I can''t tell you in words how happy They make me feel. Just seeing how much love they showed for each other on & off the ice. I will nvr stop watching them . I doubt if there will ever be a couple on the ice like they were!!

He was great and beautifull, but the more powerful thing was the absolute love he had for her, and we can feel it everytime we look at their images. Life is strange, it give you the best and then take it away from you. I don't understand why élite athletes like him, don't have good thorough medical Chek ups periodically, specially him having a dad who died young from heart problems. Sergei had a congenital heart disease that can't go undetected with good medical tests, so this is the part I don't understand about his early death. I also heard that he was starting to have pain in his back and knees and wanted to retire, have a quite like with his wife and kid and leave competition, but she wanted to compete again in the olimpics, and he wanted to please her, and maybe that over effort, with him not being well already, killed him.

@@GadeadelCid Yes that is true, he actually told the preist who married them that he was experiencing wild back pain and did not know what to do ( this was in late 91 or 92 ) He also, in a russian interview when asked about future plans after the 94 olympics said "everything is fine but we need to rest first" however katia then spoke of plans they had to continue professional skating and touring. He waned to rest but no one heard him. He was also very homesick living in america and it was not his idea to leave, he wanted to stay in russia where he was comfortable and where he knew the language. Katia even said in a russian interview that sergei asked friends to bring back newspapers from russia to america so he could read them and he specifically said she was not allowed to throw them out. They lived where she was comfortable, not where he was. In russia he had his mother who would watch his health closely when he visited remembering sergeis father died of a heart attack, but when they went back to america, skating was more important than looking after his health and this is the result....

bibe318 it’s 2018 and I STILL cry when I see them together. There will never be another....definitely not in my lifetime. Perhaps not ever. I don’t think that kind of once-in-a-lifetime love, that one-in-a-million chance of finding someone to love, who loves you as fiercely as you love him, as deep as the love shared between Sergei and Katia, AND paired with a talent like they had on the ice - I just don’t think we’ll ever see that again. It was like Camelot. It burned sooooo beautifully and shone soooo brightly for just too short a time...😔. RIP Sergei...and may God forever bless Katia and Daria. I love to think of the joyous reunion they will have one day....

Igor was a Russian actor who didn’t skate at all but he was paired with Katia on one of those Skating with the Stars shows when she was maybe 40. Fans were unnerved/happy that he reminded everyone of Sergei. I think maybe Igor went on a little bit of an ego trip at the comparison, and he was hugging and kissing Katia all through the weeks of that reality show. Fans did kind of wonder because she was married to Ilya by then. But maybe they were just enjoying life, who knows...

Absolutley, for both of them since they were both married, but especially for katia as a mother of two young daugters ( daria must have been in her early teens by this time ) That is not the example you want to set for young women. That its ok to behave in such a way with another married man when you yourself are married. I was shocked by katias behavior, she changed for the worse.
