Ekaterina Maximova plays Eliza Doolittle in the ballet-movie "Galatea," which is based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion about a phonetics professor (Henry Higgins) who takes in a Cockney-accented flower girl to teach her to speak proper English. Shaw's play inspired the musical "My Fair Lady," as well as the beloved film of the same name that starred Audrey Hepburn. The ballet version has a similar yet modified premise: here, Eliza is taken in by a ballet instructor (played by Maris Liepa), who endeavors to teach her how to dance properly and carry herself like a lady.
