My Kitty does this at the door and windows when there is Bird activity outside. She woke me up once at night making ekekek sounds and other noises I had never heard before. There was a cricket in the den and she was carrying on about it. I put it outside and wow she didn't like it. I love to listen and watch her expressions while she is making her sounds.

My cat used to ekekekek when seeing pigeons on the terrace of my old house, he doesn't anymore 🥺 even though lots of tits have made my dog's water bowl their bathing & drinking station & often stop by right in front of my house. Cat couldn't care less.. Thanks for dedicating a channel to this very strange phenomenon in cats 😊❤

Quite interesting that cats do that. Chattering or “chittering” is similar to chirping, but a bit more guttural and staccato. According to animal behaviorist Frania Shelley-Grielen, chattering is a cat’s way of saying it’s pissed off about something, usually involving prey and/or food. “While individual cats may have their own reasons or thoughts on why they do it, we typically see it around a prey species that excites them like birds,” Grielen explains to Inverse. “The sounds may actually be directed at the object of the cat’s attention.”
