After getting the front end mocked up and the suspension working in the last video, it's time to move onto the rear. The rear end of my "bagged" rc build is a little more involved, meaning there's more cutting and more modification needed.
I'll be using the original chassis again but cutting it up a bit, and I'll use the normal AR44 axle from Axial but I cut that up too!! After all the cutting and welding and gluing, it's a lot of 3D printed parts again to get the rear suspension to work and travel up and down like I want.
We're getting close to having a rolling chassis. Pretty soon we'll be figuring out body mounts!!
Hope you enjoy the Video!

Very cool setup. Excited to see what the end result is. Always loved mini truckin and lowered trucks in general. I own a 2001 Ext Cab Silverado on 20s lowered a little bit. Got me thinkn about what i could build now

Thank you! I've always been sort of into the mini truck scene as well. On my second S10 now and looking for a square body hahaha. This is a nice little outlet and a lot cheaper as well!

That narrow rear end is BRILLIANT!! I hope Josh over at R/C Everyday sees that. Some of his Rat Rod builds would be a match made in R/C heaven for a narrowed rear end

Thank you so much. I actually messaged him yesterday about what wheels and tires he uses on some of his builds. His videos are what gave me the confidence that I could tackle something like this!

That could be pretty cool! I'll probably end up just having two switches, one for the front servos and one for the rear.

Thanks! It's been a project in the back of my mind for a long time as well and its finally coming together. I think the most exciting part will be when the body is on and moving up and down!

Really into this project. I'm always building out of what I have, happens to be steel and a welder. I have a tig setup that is so close to operating ( just need regulator and clean gas). But I'm a mechanic by trade so there are alternative uses, but building tiny trucks has consumed most of my spare time in the last 5 years.

Thank you for the support! I'm not an expert at welding by any means. Would've loved to use tig for this chassis but I'm admittedly not comfortable enough with it yet.

I’m really excited to see how this goes! How do you like the abs-like resin? Do you think it will hold up well?
@FullThrottleRC
@FullThrottleRC Жыл бұрын
I'm extremely pleased with the ABS like resin! A lot more durable than I thought, I was really worried after the first few prints with standard resin. It prints well, easy to thread screws into, and has enough flex in it that I don't think the parts will be brittle or break easily.

have you been looking at the ssd lightweight aluminum wheels for the no prep car?
@FullThrottleRC
@FullThrottleRC Жыл бұрын
No I haven't. I went back to the plastic bead locks. If I remember right when I first looked at them, the lightweight aluminum wheels are still heavier than the split six with my bead lock rings
@endosrc
@endosrc Жыл бұрын
@@FullThrottleRC if this is right, SSD00551 is 48 grams, and if google is right, the split six's are 63 grams
@FullThrottleRC
@FullThrottleRC Жыл бұрын
@@endosrc I hadn't realized they offer them with the rings and hardware now. When I first saw them it wasn't with hardware and that's where I got them heavier at

How did you cut down the axle themselves?
@FullThrottleRC
@FullThrottleRC 9 ай бұрын
I cut the axle with just a thin hack saw blade and then turned the ends down in the lathe to make sure they were straight and true

@@FullThrottleRC nice. And how did you manage to get the flat spot for them to engage in the diff?
@FullThrottleRC
@FullThrottleRC 9 ай бұрын
@@castekracing just a file. Thankfully the AR44 axles are just driven with the two flat spots on either side of the shaft so it wasn't any intricate shapes I had to replicate
