I think this guy pioneered the idea that you can never have too many keyboards around you. I discovered Ekseption in my dad's record collection when I was a teenager, and was immediately hooked. I love this.

My father recorded al the big hits in the studio...I can remember that I in the holidays most of the time together with my father in the studio was I saw the band working hard on a album Ekseption 1 2 3.... Al I get when I was a little kid. Realy proud...als my dad! Now my dad past his way ...I love more than more of the band....I also make my music! I take most inperation of that memories...dreaming that I was again by the guys in that Studio in the Netherlands ...in the 60....70...years.

I remember the first time Ive heard that tune, sometime back in the early 1970s; that blend of classical, pop and jazz was in the air but these guys were one of a kind ! Pretty kewl.

The original line up with Cor Dekker on bass, and Rein van den Brock in charge of the horns. MILESTONE MUSIC. The rumor has it that Rick actually got the idea for EKSEPTION after he went to a concert with THE NICE (Emerson before ELP).

Vandaag bereikte me bericht dat Peter de Leeuwe is overleden. Hiero een stukje waarvan ik me goed herinner hoe ik in de huis-sessies bij fam. vd Linden, de schoppen onder klavier van Rick probeerde te ontwijken; Ricktator legde de discipline gewoon wat hoger. En Peter tikte het geheel strak aan elkaar, kon nog geen rifje/rafje vanaf. Ik was zo'n negen jaar dat ik nog paste onder 't klavier. Peter, Cor en Rick, bedankt!

Rick is awsome! I just wished the horn section and the drums were better. Bass of great as well. Sounds like a genius keyboarder wirh great bass plus horn section and drums from light popular music. The horn section sould be there to provide power and not doole along. The drums sould be killer and not just "exist". Sorry but the truth must be said.
