Facts! His left hand is down-right DANGEROUS. So, underrated. He's to be studied on so many levels. He is a humble genius. R&B has not sounded this good in at least two decades. The depth of his/their songwriting harmonically, melodically, lyrically is absolutely brilliant. Not to mention the arrangements/orchestration.

Damn, I didn't know that was the sample Tupac used in "I Ain't Mad At Ya." Then Biggie sampled the next song "Stay With Me." The DeBarges was the shit in the 80s.

Momma loved Debarge music and passed to pancreatic cancer on 1-10-18, I have alot of great childhood memories of listening to El's music. I would practice his high vocal chords before my own performances with my mother. I have a 5 octave range growing up on this music. Rip mommy I love and miss you so much already😢😢I hope EL will read this to know how much his voice meant to us.

Damn that moment he goes into the song whew! This man still got it and I'm so grateful the man above let him keep his talent completely intact after all he's gone through and whatnot. People should really give this guy the credit he deserves cuz the music that sells today is utter shit. It's amazing how many people agree with me, yet that music still tops the charts and sells like no ones biz. I don't get it. There's just something amazingly tranquil about his voice no matter who you are, it soothes as well as tends to hit home for those who actually listen as well. A completely underrated and clearly under appreciated talent.

He is truly a genius of a performer... Even on Motown 25, you could see that he was so much of a genius than anyone else on that stage when DeBarge and High Inergy were performing... HE WAS AND IS ON FIRE!!! Amazing talent... I hope we can experience more and more of his musical brilliance throughout the years to come!! He's as talented as Sly, Stevie, Barry, Marvin, Jackie, Sam, Otis and does not need to stand in the shadow of his brother Bobby. Eldra (I hate calling him El) is an amazing talent all on his own... Simply Amazing!!

he's a great sport to give a shot out to all the artists who sampled those piano riffs from him. Yes HE created all those piano riffs in DeBarge. the piano riff from Don't Leave me and I ain't mad atcha came from the song he wrote for DeBarge called, A Dream. this man was a songwriting genius

Yes, a lot of artist sampled DeBarge, sampling is not uncommon in Hip Hop. I'm pretty sure Ashanti (Murder Inc) and Diddy (Notorious BIG) wouldn't have been able to release the songs they made containing the Stay With Me sample without clearing it first.

Devine Hope Still struggling to stay clean? Lord Jesus.... Hope you don't mean what I think you mean. I saw an interview for an upcoming concert and I thought he looked kind of slimmer than usual. I saw him on Steve Harvey in June and he looked like he picked up some weight and then on this recent interview he did about 2 weeks ago, he looked like he lost about 15 pounds. I saw a video of a concert he did last year and he looked fine, albeit, he picked up some weight. I mean he looked fine and looked fine at the BET awards when he sang the tribute to George Michael. I also heard rumors about his management team took advantage of him. He just fired them last week. Do you know if his struggle to stay off drugs is why Interscope Records dropped him?

I knew this guys they used to live right down the street from where I used to live EL also gave me a vinyl record (all this love) and showed me a golden record he had in his living room but I never knew who was I dealing with by the time i realize who they were i wanted to get the my record autograph but they were long gone
