It’s a bit open to interpretation, but essentially about the highs and lows of living everyday life. Sometimes we are in the darkness and being dragged along through life. Depression and anxiety can trap some for a long time, others find the light and seem to float along. From the outside of others perspective we are somewhat elevated from their lived experiences, looking in. With persistence, and the help of others eventually we all find ourselves elevated. It’s also a bit literal in that the audience physically is on the outside of the stage, elevated, looking in. As far as color, I can’t speak to why. There are multiple shades of red flags that are very subtle. They signify various levels of darkness we experience in life. Then they all change to a brighter red ensemble flag; except our character in the front of the floor with the dark red. I was not in design staff, but my sister is the director, and these are the takeaways I got from our discussions on the show.
