El Niño does explain the warming, and it is a natural event. ENSO (El Niño) shows no trend or pattern for this natural occurrence. I refer you to The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) - 1882 to Present. Overall the Earth appears to be warming at around 0.13°C/decade (UAHv6, NOAA-STARv5, radiosondes - 28 million weather balloons, and climate reanalyses concur on this). NOAA-STARv5 TLT may even appear to show a reduction in the rate of warming. 1981-2023: +0.129°C/decade, 1981-2001: +0.130°C/decade, 2002-2014: +0.008°C/decade, 2015-2023: -0.060°C/decade. This gets you less than 1°C warming by 2100. This year's immediate warming isn't even anything special or the hottest. Global Temperature anomaly for August, 2023 = +0.69°C. Global Temperature anomaly for April 1998 +0.62°C Global Temperature anomaly for February 2016 = +0.70°C. (UAH v6)

Sea surface temperatures were FAR beyond normal before El nino....how do you explain that?
@OldScientist
@OldScientist 11 ай бұрын
@NickBrowning-lk1oj What's normal? Sea surface temperatures (SST) were trending downwards 2000-2018 (HadSST 4), and from 1950-1980, and from 1880-1910. The oceans warmed at a faster rate 1910-1940 than 1980-2010. Remember CO2 has been accumulating in the atmosphere at an accelerating rate all the time, so there is little correlation between the two. The ocean has warmed (and cooled) rapidly and repeatedly during the current interglacial with no correlation to CO2, e.g., 10,300-10,200 years before the present (y BP), 9,500y BP, 6,000-5,900y BP, 5,400-5,300y BP, 2,500-2,300y BP, 1,700-1,600y BP (Berner et al., 2008). There is a high frequency (18 events) of SST variability on the order of 1-3°C during a 10-50 year time resolution throughout the Holocene in the North Atlantic with no correlation to CO2.

The meteorological data is interesting, but El Nino hasn't changed. I’ve gone though several of them in my lifetime and the world is still here, so I don't go along with all of the alarmism that seems to accompany any video of this type nowadays. We will not...CAN NOT..destroy the world just by living our everyday lives. Climate change is real but it's all natural and has always moved in such cycles. Mankind won't affect it one way or the other.

Pumping c02 into the atmosphere ten times faster then the petm extinction event is what you would call a natural cycle
@smflatt
@smflatt 11 ай бұрын
@@Jc-ms5vv The PETM event supposedly took place 55 million years ago. How do we know that? Because someone took some data and made it up? Our atmosphere contains roughly 0.14% CO2 as it pretty much always has. I do not accept past events as proof of future ones.

So it's not humans but weather patterns that make the planet hot. It's almost like global climate change happens with or without humans. 🤔
@silviagiamberini980

Wrong...the humans caused the greenhouse effect to become so strong that energy in oceans is increasing dramatically and the climate mechanisms that regulate the Planet are effected

But never at this rate. What caused previous mass extinctions?
@silviagiamberini980
@silviagiamberini980 11 ай бұрын
@@Jc-ms5vv we can only suppose what were the causes of the previous mass extintions, but, besides the asteroid of the dinosaurs, it's always a change in the ecosystems. The difference is that they were much, much slower in the past, and not caused by a (predatory) living being as in this case (except the great oxidation event caused by cyanobacteria)

well lets keep cutting the trees down and clear the vegetation for development , and build houses with metal roof, pitch roads, get yards made of gravel and cement instead of lawns, pollution could be high, maybe antartica use to help cool down the place more than before maybe , but now it cannot cool down itself

Got to get rid of the destroyer of the earth and God's chosen people first, the Red Devil, I find it funny that even the children after these murderous bastards won't acknowledge that their Devil's that's funny like really game over if you didn't know soon as you go to sleep is when you might not wake from a long nightmare knowing that you belong to a group of people that God is going to Church on😂😂

"There are huge non climate effects of carbon dioxide which are overwhelmingly favorable which are not taken into account. To me that's the main issue that the earth is actually growing greener. This has been actually measured from satellites the whole earth is growing greener as a result of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. So it's increasing agricultural yields, it's increasing the forests, it's increasing all kinds of growth in the biological world and that's more important and more certain than the effects on climate." ~Freeman Dyson, Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

Yes part of the planet is becoming greener but this is not always true, and not always positive. Respiration is also increasing, releasing a lot of co2 in the atmosphere as a "positive" (= reinforcing) feedback. On the other side, deserts are increasing, the Arctic is collapsing, sea level is rising, the weather will become more and more unpredictable with tremendous consequences on agriculture. How would we feed 8+ billion people?

My house and everything in it washed up in a blink of an eye from a flash flood in an area were flooding was thought as something not possible. My relatives in Greece had to be evacuated do to wild fires/extreme heat, all in a span of two weeks. These stuff are based on real life experience and not just news, even though if you check the news and even search on TikTok, you can see that climate change is very much real, and we are not helping the situation. Yes, I know the Earth has its own regeneration mechanism and cycles, but even so the record breaking temperatures and the rate at which these changes are happening is alarming. This video is meant to bring awareness and not take this as a joke

"super hot" - it's almost like the English language doesn't have any other adjectives stronger than "hot", such as: boiling, blazing, scorching etc. Dear Americans, if you could stop dumbing down the English language with your excessive super + basic adjective (which didn't exist 6-7 years ago, i.e. before Social Media influencers became a thing) it would be really appreciated. It's already bad enough that you liberally sprinkle your sentences with the superfluous "like." If you could all stop talking like an 8 year old, it would be lovely. Thank you.
