The Zero Punctuation episode on Armored Core VI is now available in Early Access on Patreon and KZfaq Memberships. The uncensored versions of ZP / EP are available at the $2 / tier as a new additional perk. KZfaq does not make clear why videos are demonetized when it comes to curse words often, so this is the only way around it without constantly playing a guessing game with their system. Thanks!

Usually the shitty games already have long embargo’s by default so hearing about an embargo needing to be extended is just really funny. It’s not enough for games to be pushed back/delayed, reviews need to be delayed to.

Certainly sounds like a cognitohazard, if a genuinely low-danger Safe one based mostly around tedium: "SCP-???? is a video game from [DATA EXPUNGED] that makes everything in one's life more tedious and boring once one has started it until its completion, with 'starting it' including to learn about multiple aspects of it in any identifiable way including its name, the company's name, its setting, or [DATA EXPUNGED]. Unfortunately the game itself is so objectively boring and repetitive that universally subjects quickly start contemplating suicide despite its low difficulty."

I play a similar game where I skip to a random point in those yearly compilations and time myself to see how fast I can guess the game. Yahtzee goes on so many tangents and game protagonists often look so generic that it can be really tricky sometimes.

Another idea is to watch a video on mute and try to figure out what Yahtzee is saying in general from the imagery. It’s a fun game, but I’ve seen almost all of the ones before 2023 like 50 bazillion times already, ao I can only really do this game for the newer ones.

Regarding the "at no point did anyone raise a hand" situation with licensed IP games, I guara-fuckin-tee you that everyone did, and then got overruled by either the IP holder or some higher-up. Devs always, ALWAYS know if their game sucks, and the helplessness of not being able to fix it is the worst part.

On either an interview or an EP I think the latter, Yahtzee answered the question of "don't the devs hate you?" with no actually, they usually agree with his criticism but didn't have time to fix it because of publisher pressure.

After mentioning the combat being largely depending on punching the other chaps in the face and being too easy (I mean, if IGN calls a game in their preview "easy", it must be appropriate for toddlers as a lullaby), I feel you're quite right. And being scheduled for OCT 18th release, it can perfectly still be under the embargo. Shame, this IP is really getting a super short stick recently...

To be fair, Max Payne did very much the same thing. Not to say the voice was exactly the same, but both the voice and dialogue were very intentionally overdone, and the voiceover monologues were absolutely rubbing your face in it.

...in a very loose sense, it kind of is, though, isn't it? Inasmuch as the progression depends on incremental upgrades and equipment which are earned and retained from previous runs? (I might be wrong about this. Honestly, I'd never even heard of the series until WritingonGames mentioned it a few months back. No idea how it managed to fly under my radar all these years, but here we are.)

@@Thrillhou Nah, AC6 is a mission based 3rd person action shooter. Death simply means restarting at a checkpoint or at worst restarting the mission. Nothing is randomized either. Upgrades are bought with cash earned in missions.

It’s a roguelike releasing right around now, based on an existing IP. With a fantasy theme, and a focus of melee combat. My biggest fear is that it might be Hellboy: Web of Wyrd.
