i always wondered how this needle works. Thanks for the video. The tape's name you didn't know is called Masking tape and is used a lot in painting applications for covering handles, windows, skirting boards etc. to protect them from painting all over it. It is much easier than cleaning it up afterwards which could be very messy.

Hello, I've just started punch needle embroidery a short while ago and I've more or less overcome basic hurdles, but when it comes to filling I'm still struggling. Sometimes when it is densely packed, or I need to get very close to another section/colour, my punch needle will poke into an already existing back loop and push it out, therefore I end up ruining that stich. I have to undo many many stitches to go back to that one and start again. Very frustrating. I would love some tuto on that topic, thank you so much. And a Dutch friend of mine has ordered 2 punch needles from you, I can't wait to get them as I live in India and choice is pretty limited out here. Thank you for your very clear, step by step tutos, very engaging!

Thank you so much for your informative Lavor/intro video. I am just beginning this fiber art and thought it would be a fun skill to develop during this long pandemic winter that is beginning! I have previously crocheted and knitted. What most attracts me to punch needling is the "flow". I think I am going to really enjoy not having to count everything. That is what repels me from those arts at times. I have my Lavor punch and monkscloth and am ready to start this week when the snow begins. Blessings to you!

I will be buying the punch needle from your shop but where did you buy your cloth and hoop? I live in Belgium so I can probably buy them from the same place if it has an online shop :) Thanks for your help already!

Almost one year after you posted this now, & I just finished placing an order to buy a punch needle set from your etsy shop & I also bought some monks cloth that way I can have a proper go once it all arrives. I've become obsessed with the idea in a matter of days so I went to my local Joann's to get started & boy, what an all around disappointment that was. Not only were they sold out of their cheap monk's cloth, they also have the worlds smallest shelf for punch needle supplies & only one terrible option that they call a "punch needle" that looks like it will break trying to get it out of the package.... but I'm a fool & I jump into new mediums very quickly so I didn't want to wait for my good supplies to arrive in the mail. So, I bought the shitty punch needle & a yard of burlap to at least begin learning in the meantime while I wait for the beautiful needles I bought from you & some nice looking cloth, I feel like at least this way I'm learning the hard way & then I'm going to be amazed once I switch over to proper materials. Hello If you cut the loops to make the furry saggy look' would the strands stay in place? in other words would the strands stay fastened to the fabric?

Yes, it makes no difference if it's loops or strands.

Thanks for this tutorial! Would you say this needle is too small for making rugs with? It's available in my country but I don't want to accidentally buy the wrong size.

Thank you! Yes, I think it´s too small for a rug. That would take you a long long time. From the same brand there is also a larger size, that would be better, so you can work with chunky yarns.
