To get the best start in Elden Ring for beginners when starting a Mage build is to start the game as the Astrologer Class since it has the highest intelligence stat then follow this walkthrough guide on how to get the best staff location in Elden Ring early game. The Meteorite staff has an S scaling in intelligence making it one of the best intelligence weapons with the drawback that it cannot be upgraded. Looks like i have to get this staff now, funny how this was the base class I chose. Originally I had a health ring but it was useless so I restarted with a golden seed so I'd have more mp potions lol.

ESO, I really have to thank you for your guides. I have 2 main "problems", I haven't played any of the "souls games" before and I am 60+. Learning new muscle memories at my age takes a lot of time, so I often have to think about what key to press. Not optimal in a Boss fight ;-). But I know one thing, being over-leveled and having the best equipment solves most problems. The meteorite staff and the rock sling has helped me with every boss in Liurnia and Weeping Peninsula and The Lazuli Glintstone sword and a good shield are the only reason I survived some caves. And the the 100K runes from the dragon gave me a good start. I still die tons of times but I get them in the end ;-) I've just killed Margit on my 2'nd try, (yeah I am over-leveled like crazy ;-) Your methodical guides has been invaluable in helping me getting here. So thanks a lot.

I'm 20 years younger than you, Staffan, but I'm right there with you - mastering the buttons in this game is tricky. I've remapped some of the buttons - specifically, swapped the L stick and R stick so that R is crouch/dismount, as it is in many other games, and L is lock on. Just feels more natural that way. I still press X accidentally way too often, wasting my flasks, but I haven't figured out a better way to handle that yet if one exists.

5:17 you can also go around back of the building. There is a ledge that you can walk on and grab the staff

Not sure if anyone has pointed it out but there is a teleport trap you can take to Caelid. You just have to escape the crystal tunnel and the Staff and spell is about a 1 min away from it.

@@snipeziol rest at a grace then you can equip it under memorize spell. At the start you'll only have 2 slots but later you can get more.

THanks for the great video! If you walk around the outside of the building to the right of the door where the staff is you can grab it from the outside and not even deal with the enemies in the room.

The meteorite staff is awesome and easy to get with in the first hour or so. I used it as a primary staff for awhile and a secondary staff. If you are heavily leveling up intelligence early, you will love this staff.

I’m honestly surprised at how expansive this game really is I myself am not a fan of dark souls or bloodborn I just never put time in them but this game is awesome and I’m really enjoying it so I guess I’ll try to put some time in the others to learn the lore of the universe

they are in completely different universes and are very much so different games. the other souls games/sekiro/bloodborne are one massive dungeon after the other, there is no open world and exploration focus in the same sense. not to say they aren’t phenomenal games, just the only thing you might find similar are the hud, items, and depending on game fighting mechanics.

@@cecilgallimore7375 nope. Totally separate universes. Though the gameplay here feels very similar to DS3. Sekiro has the best gameplay in my opinion. And Bloodborne the best atmosphere & lore. (In my opinion of course). Sekiro combat feels very different than the rest, but it’s sooo good. Don’t give up if u try it! It’s the only game I’ve ever platinumed in my life.

@@Nazgul265 There absolutely is an exploration focus. It's like the single biggest aspect of the gameplay aside from the combat system. Exploration =/= open world. DS1's world design is absolutely incredible and has a better feeling of exploration than even Elden Ring in some respects. It's like a 3D metroidvania.

I reccommend getting meteorite staff early game, putting as many points into mind and int. Then getting lusats staff and upgrading it as much as possible for mid to late, while putting points into faith so late game you can use the death prince staff. Which does more damage fully upgraded and doesn't have any fp reduction and it boosts death spells. FYI it may be pretty hard to fully upgrade and use the prince of death staff first play through so it's not the end of the world if you use a 10+ lusats staff after all I beat the game using it. Edit: I beat maleania 3 times so I'm a pretty reliable source on what to do in the game if ya don't trust my methods

Being a more recent comment, I'd like to ask you specifically: Did you get the staff? I went to both locations in this guide and neither the armor or staff were there! In fact, nothing was there except enemies - there were no items. And I absolutely had not been there before because I have NEVER gone that far into Caelid. Any ideas?

@@snipekilldead I would co-op with you, but I don't play online. My internet is just in my phone. I could hotspot, but I'm not very confident in the connection that way. As for my level, it shouldn't be a problem to find the staff, it's just not there in the window, there isn't even a corpse there - nothing. My Int. Is 19, overall character is 50. The staff SHOULD be there, but it's not 😓

There's also a chest trap in the dragon ruins (just east of where you come out of the tutorial. It takes you to a dungeon that you can sneak through and come out really close to the staff location

location is quite easy if you head to the ruins at Agheel Lake (flying dragon boss) and open the chest (transport trap). it will teleport you into a crystal mine where you sneak-out slow and easy. with your horse its a 40sec ride to the meteorite staff.

Hello there. I would like to thank you. There are a lot of early OP "tricks" guides, but i watched yours and managed to do the hardest: I got to play the entire game (and i am about to beat NG+1). I used to use glintstone pebble as a little fling spell for when an enemy kept their distance and I could punish it, this spell changes the whole strategy. I work to get the enemy away and then hit it with one or two of these before going back in. Insane spell
