Elden Ring challenge runs are back, and we are starting with a weathered straight sword run. My goal is to not only beat the game with this beginner's weapon, but to transform it into a viable end-game weapon.

Do a challenge where you have to only use loot from the area you are in so if you are in the mountain tops of the giants you could only use rivers of blood or other weapons found there you could do what ever you want with armor but I hope you see this 👍

Mad respect for using the default Ash of War for the whole game; by not just slapping, say, Flame of the Redmanes on it, you showed off the merits of the underrated Square Off AoW.

I mean, it's Square Off. It's like the best, on par with katana default which I cannot spell without googling. I wish every weapon class has this level of good skill, applicable only to weapons of this class. I'm not devaluing the run of the vid, it's an awesome discovery. Just mentioning it's probably one of top-3 skills in three game when we talk about non-unique ones.

ah yes, the true gentleman's weapon~ No joke though, the reason your challenge runs are my favorite isn't the content, or the runs themselves. It's simply because you're a great person to listen and talk to, something which a lot of these runs lack. So thanks for making 18 minutes of my day that much more enjoyable!

Personally i really like the Weathered Straight Sword. not because its a perticularly good weapon, but i just like its astetics. its like the companion over many travels that has seen better days

Ah yes the perfect sword to do a Goblin Slayer cosplay Idk if anyone has already commented it but you can get the weathered straight sword in the afflicted village in weeping peninsula.

Also, because it doesn't have a sheath on it when equipped. I don't like the weapon sheaths messing up my outfits Except for katanas The Cane Sword also doesn't have one, and is also considered bad I think 🤣

You can get a weathered sword drop from the frenzied villagers in either weeping peninsula or in liurnia of the lakes

Great video! I think there are commoners in Redmane Castle and other locations who can drop this sword without needing to kill any bosses but it isn't the end of the world tbh

I tried to see if anyone else mentioned it but you can farm the weathered straight sword from the commoners at fort Haight, thought it might be interesting to know and great video, I might give this challenge a try

@@dariusfilip4695 I realise I should have actually checked on the wiki before so thanks for reminding me. The wiki does say "Dropped from Commoner enemies in any area". Again I should have actually checked before but I can now say with certainty that it can drop in fort Haight.

Ahhh, a welcome sight to wake up to after takin a 2 hour nap, after walking home for 2 straight hours from work. Here's an idea: Before every boss, you have to spin a wheel of restrictions like: no healing, no jump attacks, no rolling, you have to speak latin to describe the fight in your video, etc. Also, here are Ragnarok challenge ideas so have at it (if ya want) Ragnarok with ONLY runic attacks, Assistant only (BOY, Freya, the dwarves, etc), Fists only, Shield attacks only

Great video! Others have mentioned you can get the sword earlier, which you can, but i understand why you went Stormveil. I think it's a huge problem with the wiki: item locations are usually written in such a way as to seem like there's way fewer ways to get an item than there actually are. They (incorrectly) list Stormveil as the earliest location, when really it's probably just the most consistent early farming location. I picked my WSS up at fort height during Kenneth's quest, long before i hit up margit.

Did the same run but with the broadsword, the square off aow CARRIES I also want to point out if you do a light attack instead of heavy, the aow will do an upper cut, dealing a lot damage to shields

I dare say that to pay for the Margit kill before getting the sword, you could try to kill the overworld Margit right afterward.

Actually...you could have faced Margit with the weathered straight sword. The frenzied villagers in the ailing village in the weeping peninsula also drop the weathered sword.

Every weapon is viable, some are stronger, but ashes of war and upgraded weapons make them all good.

If you're interested, by far the hardest run you can do in Elden Ring is a Golden Order/Fundamentalist Incantations only run.

Cane sword is similar to this one if not worse (idk entirely) but mightve been a better pick (went and looked at stats and the cane sword is worse)

This challenge run is funny because It shows How much from games are more action oriented now, for me the piss poor souls 1 player the only bad thing of this wepons may be the range, the damage looks more than passable and the stamina consumption is low, Just like the broken longsword in dark souls 2, the only downside is the abyssmall range

So actually you could skip ahead to the Altrus Paltus, and then get the weathered straight sword from one of those creepy looking dudes by the abandoned military camp. Right past the one where they throw rocks at you. (You usually see it on the way to the Tree Sentinel) This way you could beat Margit with the weathered straight sword.
