The fact that Godfrey took on an entire army of these Giants just shows how much of a monster he was during his Elden Lord days

That phase 2 transition cutscene is absolutely brutal. Poor guy.

The move he does in the 2nd phase where he launches magma and rocks out of his "mouth" easily has to be the most badass looking attack in the entire series.

Just beat him. Summoned my boy, Alexander, to help me. On the second to last attack I got him down to 1 hp, couldn't even see the health bar. I do my Ash of War, Lion's Claw (aka Artorias' jump attack), but the boss rolls away from me and dodges, but I see Alexander charging at him and he's way closer than me, and I'm like "DO IT ALEXANDER!!!!!" and the pot dude frickin' does it. Lands the killing blow, and returns to his world. My heart was pounding and I was so happy for him, he being cracked and training so hard and all. I wish he stuck around somewhere on the battlefield so I could high five him or something.

I just did this Boss fight, basically all on horseback and it was cathartic. Just zooming by the boss and getting a few hits in, strafing around while he erupts or dodging his flamethrower by sprinting to the side, it was all just so cinematic. Just otherworldly. From knows what's up

I love how they went from giant to Ippondatara, a mountain cyclopic Yokai in Japanese mythology with one leg and two arms

This game is just gorgeous. The way you charge at him at 3:05 while he sends out those mini meteors looks straight out of a cutscene. This has to win best game of the year hands down.

There were two shots from the first gameplay trailer I’d been waiting for all game and wondering where they were. Then, I get them both in one cutscene. This game is absolutely phenomenal.

That second phase cutscene was so violent, it hurts me. Not the hardest boss but really cool design and battle !

(this is purely just a theory of mine) Definitely could be a reference to Surt from Norse mythology, given he's a huge fire giant who's right next to what is basically a world tree. As for the second face with huge mouth well... Jotun doesn't actually mean giant, it meant devourer or something like a devourer, so this giant having a second huge mouth could be a nod to that. Or I'm looking to deeply into it. Either way, great game

I can’t help but feel sympathy everytime I hear those roars of pain

My first playthrough I died many times during his first phase, then finally got to the second phase... my jaw dropped when the eye opened and he started spewing fire from his belly. I managed to kill him on my first try of the second phase, riding around on Torrent, using up all my heals and down to about half health. One of the most cinematic and pulse pounding experiences I've had in a video game. What an amazing game.

Man, considering the difference in damage and healthbar from my character, I think I am at this boss way too early...

2:18 I just noticed, he has a freaking ear on his armpit, most likely belonging to the god-face on his torso. That is both kinda funny but also really good attention to detail

The way he just rips out his leg to awaken the cyclops is just brutal and probably one of the best scenes in gaming history. I wonder if the inspiration came from Norse mythology, where its believed that Odin would grant power to his followers in exchange for a sacrifice. For those that do not know what I'm on about, watch the first episode of "American Gods".

One of the most amazing bosses ever! The music and the second half are amazing. I loved that it realizes you’re going to be attacking the feet - so the cutscene adjusts the boss.

Was kinda scared going up to this dude since I heard a lot of people saying it was crazy hard. Was kinda surprised I was just able to slap his ankles the entire fight and he couldn't do anything about it lol. Still an awesome design though.

Now this... this is a giant. Fromsoft in previous titles IMO failed when it came to giants. However, this one, is a real one with a from twist in the second phase! 🖤 Giants were always depicted as giant men with more bestiality in them whom feasted upon common folk. With how big and hostile he is, this fits the deal of what a giant should be. I love this boss!

Amazing the sound of battle😁

When I beat him a couple hours ago, I almost cried because I died to him more than a dozen times beforehand. So I went back into the Lands Between and started to grind (mostly around Caelid) and when I was around level 103, I fought him and after a few attempts, I downed the big guy. The biggest tip I can give to anyone is to do Alexander’s quest by finding him by Radhan’s castle, and before that, freeing him from the hole he was stuck in. Then after that, at some point he will be in Volcano Manor. Talk to him and then he will go to the Mountaintop of the Giants, where he can help you take down the Fire Giant. Keep in mind that while he doesn’t take too much damage physically, it’s best to attack the giants ankle, and bring him to 50% health where Alexander will be most useful. Alexander also doesn’t take flame damage, so there is something to be aware of. That was my strategy to defeat this giant. Hope it helps! Good luck, fellow Tarnished brothers and sisters!

The same way that stories can be described as Eldritch, the worlds created by FromSof purely just feel like their own thing. The scope of everything is so massive

As with many large bosses in fromsoft games the hardest thing about this boss was the camera.

I disliked this fight at first but when you learn to hop on and off of torrent at the right times instead of just chasing him on foot. And actually hitting his arms instead of his legs it becomes so much more fun. The hitboxes become better and the telegraphs make sense

To me this is one of the most rememberable boss fights. Absolutely epic!

His appearance reminds me of Wyald’s apostle form in berserk.

Here's my rant for this boss and why it's possibly my FAVORITE. This fight is so cinematic it's amazing, riding up, seeing this lone figure and realizing it's a bonafide Giant (and subsequently realizing it's the Last Giant) leftover from the war against the Erdtree. Then the transition cutscene to the second phase and the second phase itself is why this boss is ranked so high to me. You have this Giant on the ropes, and he yells and roars with no words like a Giant would, then rips his damn leg off and you don't really know why (is he gonna beat us with it or something), all the while the Erdtree is so far away looking down on all this, ever present in the background and uncaring as this Giant roars at the sky. Then he summons his God and the next phase begins. The music swells and now you have to fight not only a being that fought toe to toe against the Gods in an ancient war, but HIS God as well, shattering the sky with volcano eruptions of fire. And the music for this phase is perfect too, it's so blood pumping and exciting. I honestly can't think of another boss in this game that I repeatedly watch the fight of and get so excited every time I get to face it. Other than Godrick (BEAR WITNESS), the Ancestor Spirit and Godskin fights for the music, and Radahn for the lore and the multi summons. But Fire Giant ranks top tier for me.

The design for this boss reminds me of Goliath from DMC5, because of his… “tummy teeth”.

That moment the character jumped and swung at his head made me wanna grapple on so bad. A minor implementation of Dragons Dogma's system in this would've been sick as hell. Just occasional options to grapple on the head or other limbs for a short burst of big damage.

Fire Giant may be the only being in existence able to lick his ear.

I just beat him with my Str/Fai build. I used vow of the indomitable, the long envoys horn and the mimic tear. It sounds ridiculous but me and the mimic blew bubbles at the fire giant and it melted his health. Then I used rotten breath and waited out the last part of the fight.
