When you NEED Bloodhound step to dodge an attack, you know a boss is complete bullshit

It's dodgeable but the window is so small, you can practically say it's useless to try. It's need to be fixed that's for sure.

I came here after beating him following several losses, almost entirely due to that charge. As a medium load dual-wield GS user, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that they'd made a boss who feels like a 1-frame link in a fighting game to dodge through. I managed it a couple times but it was total crap.

I dodged it once with a medium roll, I legit screamed

i found that you can dodge it quite consistently when you stand mostly still and dodge to the side at the "last" second. Progressed it with light equip load (felt a bit easier to learn to dodge it that way), killed it then after switching back to medium load. And he mostly only used 3 abilities against me: charge, that purple sword thing and some rare ocassions his melee combo.

I've been able to get the timing down on his charge attack, but it doesn't matter. Honestly feels like a coin flip on whether or not he hits you. Sometimes you'll get hit twice!

It is possible to dodge, but timing has to be ridiculously precise, like frame perfect pretty much. The problem is distance of your roll and speed of the boar don't allow you to clear back hitbox of it in time for your i-frames to fall off. Unless you roll as late as humanly possible, that is. I was able to do it quite a few times, like half of the time or so. Which isn't good enough, obviously, so I opted to vow of indomitable skill on my shield. I haven't tested anything else, but I'd say any option that allows you to cover more distance or get more i-frames will work just fine. Even just light roll should do the trick, but vow or bloodhound step are more generous on the timing.

This is the best way to dodge the charge consistently: get light roll Really i was struggling super hard with this until i took off all my armor then i almost always dodged it going forward and sideways.

I agree. And he's mandatory i believe. He was so absurdly stupid that i crushed my controller and swapped from my NG+7 character with all the goodies to my NG character that i had to do massive prep work on. Haven't gotten back to him but im already getting 1 shot by a boss's basic attacks and i have 58 levels in health, with max base game resistance talismans and physick. This DLC is hard and i love it

This is one of the first "guides" i've seen for niche SoulsBourne game stuff that was actually entertaining while yk gave me a good solution for when fromsoft makes a mistake like this dude. Great video dude keep it up.

I was a pure Int user going into this fight. I tried light rolling and could not for the life of me get through to the charge attack. I hated it, spiked my controller a few times, and then gave in to respec my character to use the Wave of Gold Sword. I summoned a the greatshield guys and used them as fodder to keep him busy as I spammed the wave attack. Finally beat him that way. Elden Ring is my first Fromsoft game and it's been a blast but this fight is just ass.

You can consistently dodge through the boar on medium roll using the ring that improves dodge rolling. You take more damage but worth it. Doing it without is really inconsistent and hits you right as you exit its ass. Bullshit hitbox but I suppose prep work is key

he can also do the charge attack close range unprompted, really lazily designed boss imo.

I always dodged the charge by rolling through it with a medium roll. Granted, the timing has to be just about perfect but it definitely works.

crucible feather talisman along with a heavy lean on bleed build up helped me beat him somewhat easily, still hard to dodge the charge though

You have to fast roll. Either be below 30% equip load or use the talisman. You will likely go from being 3 shot to getting 2 shot, but that was the only way I could consistently make the roll.

i was able to dodge it by first running left adnt then just a roll when he does it up close its pretty much impossible to dodge normally

blood hound step, cant believe i didnt figure that out. i just stripped down and light rolled

you have to wait until you're basically inbetween his tusks and then roll perpendicular to him

i think they should nerf this boss's ability to one shot you at 99 vigor, granted i am on ng+ 11 i think, but this boss is absolutely overkill. thank fuck its not a mandatory figh

U should try a Dex/Arcane build with Whips and Bloodhounds step. I’m doing a Juno Hoslow build and I got my bleed Whips infused with Frost on Left hand and Poison on my Right. When I say I powerstance and proc Frost and Poison in ~6 hits and Bleed in less I’m not lying.

YOU HAVE TO BE ON TORRENT TO BEAT THIS BOSS. I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be that way because there’s literally zero way to dodge half these attacks unless you are on torrent. I used my mimic and led the boss to my mimic to distract him, then I was able to get a bunch of free attacks in. Repeat it and it’s actually really easy. Hope this helps

It’s actually possible but you have to dodge at the latest time into it’s charge

You can run around and hide behind a wall corner for the first charge.

This attack is heavily telegraphed and very consistent to roll dodge. The timing is tight, but it's not even his hardest attack imo. Just roll to the side right before he hits you

No its like absolutely impossible still i jus tried bloodhound and ye it works mostly but when a move still hits you through it like it did me just now its absolute insane

lol I don't dodge actually just hiding from it. From the start of the fight he charges, you go quickly on the side of the entry you just passed he will get stuck in his animation for a while the time for you to put your buffs. After that just block with shield (max level) and keep an eye on your stamina to be able to block.

Maybe i got lucky, but i changed to Blasphmous Blade and Takers demolished this guy (55 faith, lvl 157). Around 10th attempt, 2nd with Blasphemous.

ngl, i kinda accepted the charge as very annoying guaranteed damage due to how impossible it felt to avoid. Didnt even think i could use Torrent here, so i'll try that next playthrough, thanks As an Int Faith caster myself i just cheesed him with the blacksmith golem summon as a tank while i obliterated the dude with the new Pest Thread Spears incant from the dlc lol Fight bs with more bs or sth Seriously, that spells feels like borderline cheating xd I tried it against the cryptid knight on a horse in the underground yesterday and the poor fella didnt even get into phase 2 lol

You can tell this DLCs getting to people I check the comments and there's ALL THIS RAGE

oooof i'm an idiot lol.. had no idea u could use torrent here .. thought never even crossed my mind to try lol and it seems so obvious ... his charge is faster than the summons cast time which i think is bugged cause he starts charging before you even clear the fog, so 4 second slow walk through fog and 3 second cast time, but u get impaled at 5 seconds lol EDIT: Never mind i beat him lol .. light roll all the way.

Bloodhound's is mandatory for this boss. Which is just bad design.

This boss is stupid. Not a second in the arena, gets charged. Try ro bloodhound, still fails zt times. Cznt even summon a spirit or he dashes and combos. Not a second to recoup or reposition. This is unfair.

This entire boss is so stupid, he has atleast 2 basically undodgeable attacks (the charge and the hit combo, in which the hitbox usually lasts longer than your roll). He's unfun in every way and he's by far one of the worst bosses in the DLC

This boss ruined the dlc for me, tbh. Every other boss, even the final one, feels fair and gives openings. This guy requires certain items because his hitbox is clearly bugged and he's way too aggressive.

Not sure why people cant seem to dodge this bosses attacks. When there are tons of no hit runs posted a day after the dlcs release, its a skill issue. They arent going to nerf a basic charge when malenias waterfowl still exists lol. I think your issue is taking a ranged fight to a very close range boss fight which made your life considerably harder.
