Seriously, how is anyone supposed to figure out this entire quest all by themselves?!?! This game blows my mind, takes the quests in all souls borne into a totally different level. Thank you for this video!!!!

There may be a couple of things that can stop the quest and you should really make that clear, because I’ve been trying to do this for hours now. For those of you stuck I will try to save you some time. 1. If Ranni is not showing you may have triggered the event for Radahn boss fight and have to complete it or else she won’t show in the tower 2. I never even interacted with the wolf guy in my run so wouldn’t worry about him. 3. After you return the blade to Ranni he completely leaves out a necessary step, go back to the Study Hall in east Liurnia, place the hourglass next to the globe and complete this area, you will receive the mark of death. After you pick up this item Renna’s tower should not be blocked anymore.

You missed a pretty important step. Once you get they key from Ranni, you have to place it at the pedestal at Carian Study Hall. Once you go through there you get the Cursemark of Death, which is what you need to even open Renna's Rise. Edit: I posted this comment like the first week the game was out. It's probably a glitch some people will experience, but getting the cursemark of death is what finally opened the door for me. I only assumed the cursemark was the necessary key to open Rennas rise, since it was listed under keys in your inventory.

I love how you and also more content creator's don't spoil the boss's etc even tho you're making a guide! I still haven't done it but love to pvp here and there.

For those who are stuck at the portal that isnt on 4:12 you need to go to the waypoint ruins cellar in the starting area and talk to the npc there they will tell you to fight radahn and the portal should work

At 3:25 under those stairs is a nice chest with a bow in it. And 7:49 turn left and upper left corner see the gargoyle statue and the need of a stonesword key 🔑 and there's ashes of war : mimic.

This is crazy the size and amount of hidden items and paths is just nuts never seen anything like it

There's switches on the little platforms in the Lake of Rot that raise walkways for you, makes it easier to get through the area

Hey for anyone stuck at astel I found a strategy for killing it, if you have the sorcery meteorite you can go under him and cast it when he does his lunging attack and all the meteorites will hit him. If you do it near the head which is more risky, you can deal tones of damage

playing it again after two years for new dlc and this video is still the most helpful vid on this game

If Blaidd doesn't appear at Ranni's Rise, don't worry. The quest line is not broken! It's quite the complete opposite. You'll be able to skip straight to getting the Fingerslayer Sword! Warp to the Night's Sacred Ground grace and walk up the stairs and you'll then be destined to get the item!

To the people who reading this, when arrekz pick up the black whetblade, go straight and you will find an imp statue door, open it, defeat the enemy there, open the treasure chest, voila, one of the best summon in the game. But it all "depends" on you though 😉 Edit 1: on the lake of rot, there's platform with pillar on it, there's a switch to activate more platform to walk safely on so yeah you don't need to chug that many of your estus, also prepare some boluses that heals rot. Other tip is you can use quickstep art to...quickstep on the lake

IMPORTANT!!! If you’re like me and started the quest line but didn’t know what to do, then killed radahn and now want to do the quest, you can skip the step in the River well. Just talk to the wolf guy after you beat radahn and you can go to fort haight👍🏾 if you want to get the map you can go down there but not necessary, the wolf won’t be there and the meteors in the sky will spawn. You just skip a step basically

I doesn't meet Blaidd the first time in Sifora River because I was probably to far in the story and he wasn't there anymore but still got the Sword. Awesome guide, thanks

Nice guide and thoroughly explained (there were some others that really didn't explain it very well just expect you to know where it was) The electricity died out in the middle of my playthrough and sent me back two levels (though I did save) now blaidd is not there. I have the worst luck, I will just do this in my next playthrough.

That dragon drops the spell Adula's Moonblade which when combined with the Carian Regal Scepter (Boosts full moon sorcery) is sooo good!

The only thing I actually did in this questline was talk to all NPC's, I missed Seluvi's questline, I missed the half-wolfs questline. I had just talked to all before I didn't even do Nokron or anything. I met the wolf the second time at Radahn. This was after talking to Ranni the first time and him as well. He told me about her slumber, I slayed Radahn and then I could wake her up after getting the black knife. She left, I got miniature Ranni and did the rest to geet Moonlight sword, it's actually pretty ez to get in FromSoft standard.

Been trying to get this sword on my first playthru was Hard, managed to grab it now on NG+ thank you.

You can cheese the baleful shadow by sneaking from the elevator area to get behind him and poison mist him like a ninja.

make sure u talk to do the doll at all the bonfires once u pick it up and exhaust all dialogue at each bonfire. u wont get invaded by blaidd unless u do this. hope this helps anyone who thinks their quest is glitched. something that is easily missed

English is not my language, feel free to correct. I talk to Ranni in begining, killed Loretta first and after killed Rennala but Ranni tower is still locked, i travelled to Caelid to kill the dragon and pick some itens, maybe kill Radahn to open the quest ??

Doors blocked off for me at 8:41 Finally found what was missing.. I took the Carian inverted statue to Carian Hall. Complete that and the door will open when you return. hope it helps.

I kept hearing about this sword but learned I had to do a bunch of stuff to get it and kill multiple bosses so I kinda ignored it. I accidentally figured out how to get it myself today and I can't believe how OP it is since my Int is already like 38

This is a pretty good guide but it leaves out many key steps that will have you looking up other guides unfortunately. 1 how to open the portal to the Radahn fight. 2 when you finishe the fight and return to Ranni, you have to talk to her, exhaust her Dialogue, leave and come back to finder her gone and a new grace site, and then the tower to the north opens. 3 when you get the Ranni doll, when you get to the lift before the basilisks, at the grace site, theres an option to speak to the doll. You need to exhaust its dialogue tree to be able to unlock the next step. Hope this helps, I know that when I did this I had like 5 different videos open because there’s very specific things that don’t get mentioned in this.

IMPORTANT!!!! If you went to the rot zone and talked to blade by Radahn boss it glitches the game so Ranni isn’t in the game until after you kill Radahn as blade needs to be in both places at once but can’t. So try to avoid radahn until after this quest chain.

If you’ve been playing the soulsborne series of games for a while then you’ll know it’s been by our side all along.

80 hours in and about lvl 130, I'm using Dark Moon Greatsword and just grabbed Lusat's Glintstone Staff after using Meteorite Staff for a while. I have the Moonveil Katana as my second weapon in the right handed slot so I'm switching out between DMGS and Moonveil in my right hand, meanwhile I have Lusat's staff and also Meteorite Staff in my left hand casting Comet Azur with Lusat's and casting Rock Sling, Magic Glintblade, Terra Magicus and Adula's Moonblade with Meteorite. I'm going to mix some other good pvp spells in there as well if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Tip for the scarlet rot you can use the dash on a weapon and it will not make the rot build up so just use that to get to the other side of the lake.

One missing piece- in order to use the portal at rhe Impassible Greatbridge you must first activate thr Grand Dectus Lift Left Medallion is in Fort Haight, a peninsula of a lake below minor erdtree south of 3rd church of marika Right medallion is Fort Faroth, Caelid, southwest of dragonbarrow minor erdtree. Once dectus lift is active, the Redmane Castle portal activates

8:41 if the door is locked for you after giving Renna the Dagger. Bring up the map and press the grace spot again basically reloading the game. That worked for me.

Blaidd's actually super easy if you're a mage, which I would assume you probably are if you're doing this quest. You can pretty much just spam Rock Sling and he'll never really do anything lmao.

Question I've completed the quest line but the sword didn't spawn at the two fingers at all does anyone know if this a bug or something to do online?

Just for ppl who may of done what I did I didn’t get the second item from the mage or speak to the wolf guy in the spot underground. You can safely do this quest from the point of beating the boss of Carelid, sorry for poor word choices but hope that helps peeps who think they can’t get the sword

Guy's every single guide is leaving out a really important part in the begging Renna is not going to be in the tower as long as you didn't finished Blaidd the Blaidd quest, and Blaidd going to attack you instead of talking with you if you attacked the sleeping bear nearby his location and it's knocked him of the ruins (in this case head to the church of vows )
