While Rykard & Tanith's true intentions are despicable, I believe the ideals of a Recusant, or at least a fraction of doubt in regards to the Greater Will, truly starts to hold meaning after Morgott's defeat. When the Two Fingers seemingly abandon us, Gideon and Enia implore us to press on, even if it means doing the unthinkable to the Erdtree.

Fun fact: You can summon Bernahl for the Godskin duo fight.

while bernahl was opposed to the two fingers he was never on team rykard for real. i think he infiltrated the manor to get the blasphemous claw and was making his way through farum azula with the intention to fight maliketh, therefore why you can summon him for godskin duo and why he drops the claw near the end of the area. he wanted to bring destined death himself.

After killing Rykard you can find patches on the bridge to the end boss of the shaded castle in the Altus plateau injured and leaning against a wall, talking to him he will tell you he got in a bit of a slip up and should have stuck to what he knows best but will request you give this item to lady tanith. He then gives you the dancers castanets with the item description “castanets used by dancers from foreign lands” by talking to lady tanith in the boss arena she simply says she has no interest in them and refuses the gift and patches disappears. Perhaps they used to be lady taniths and she used to dance with them or something but I thought it might be something worth noting

You mentioned they're bloody fingers but that's White Mask Varres/BloodLord Mogwyns faction. Taniths faction are the Recusant. Great vid otherwise

You mentioned that Rykard would eat his recuscants, but you said they would be trained to feed themselves to him. I don't think that's accurate. Based on the dialogue with Tanith right before she brings you to Rykard to kill him, she's bringing you to finally be honored by Lord Rykard, and you don't know that he wants to eat you. It might not have been entirely a secret that Rykard did this (based on serpent slayers sword's text, and the fact that nobody returns from Rykard), but I don't think anyone was willingly feeding themselves to him.

Good video. Only complaint I have is the audio balance. Your voice is very quiet and I was finding it hard to hear at times. One angle you missed with Rykard was his desperation for power. Look at what’s around the manor. The iron virgins, which are found throughout the game at places where power could be sought after (Raya Lucaria comes to mind). A giant guards the entrance and uses madness, a clear sigh of the three fingers. The marionettes, made by Raya Lucaria to be warriors, defend the manor. You have a godskin apostle within the manor and a magma dragon. There are living pots, which seek the corpses of the strong to fill themselves with. Literally anything and everything that could lead him to greater power is gathered in one place. He was obsessed with power. He invited any and all opportunities for power. He was willing to go to any length and implore any means to become stronger.

Interesting... Keep it going, Tarnished. There are still many mysteries to be discovered in the world📜

Volcano Manor and Miquella's Haligtree are my favorite legacy dungeons. Stormveil and Raya Lucaria are classic, Leyndell and Farum Azula are fantastic but the Manor and Haligtree have the most incredible vibes.

I really liked Tanith but I didn't really mind killing her so I could fight her Crucible Knight because the sound of her eating Rykard was stomach turning x.x

Small nitpick, but it's actually the recusants at volcano manor. The bloody fingers are different, and located by Mohg, Lord of Blood.

it is a breeding ground to feed that serpent, that much is.. i believe true. they gave us some missions, to prove our strength, and if we succeed in all of them, then we're a worthy fodder. well.. that didnt go as plan huh? maybe they should check around the arena regularly, see if there's a serpent killer spear laying around. but.. i gotta say, as bad as they are, they still respect our strength when we came back after killing rykard. noone even mad, nor upset. well.. understandable tho, if we're able to kill their lord, surely we can kill every single one of them easily, yea... maybe except that damn crucible knight, that one might take a little bit of work.

Great video. I know this is unrelated, but I saw you do something similar to me in the Rykard fight. You don’t have to use the ash of war of the spear to fight Rykard. The r1 and r2 do the huge wind thing as well. I did most of the fight not knowing that until a friend told me and just wanted to help a fellow tarnished!
