I'm back after I beat him yesterday, if anyone is having frustration because of his charge attack, you can dodge it by sprinting to the side then dodging diagonally across the hog, opposite the direction the hog is charging from. If you try dodging straight on you get hit everytime

The ash of war on the Blasphemous Blade works wonders on him. It let's you keep him at a bit of a distance, while also working to heal you.

This is one of the strat I used on him. The other one is using Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear and hiding on the other side of the corner once he got stuck fighting your summon.

i have beat every boss up until this one on the 3rd try max because im on New Game and im close to lvl 200. I stopped using blasphemous blade probably around part 12 of the walkthrough because things were getting too easy. Died to this guy 12 times then finally switched back to BB just for this fight and got him on the second try doing exactly this.

I did it with the Ruins Greatsword. Same ides as far as strat. Beat him 3rd try. So far the stupid fuckin Sunflower had be the toughest boss for me.

I was doing 4000+ damage with Taker’s Flame using an array of buffs. Once you work out the windows it’s a pretty stellar way to defeat him.

Note that with Gaius this was recorded before the patch so he will always spawn in the back left of the arena. With his charge a foolproof way to dodge is always last second and diagonally towards him but away from his body. The boar has a hitbox on the tusks but also a hitbox on his body so NEVER roll into him. You notice this the most if you jump, he will 1 shot you as both hitboxes connect. So wait till hes close and roll through the tusk but away from the body and once you practise that you will never get hit by the horn. For the grav slam its the same as Radahn if you dodge into him you get a big opening. The only other thing that you need to look out for is the 8 hit combo he does with him and the boar just dodge left to right

@@Kroda- only if you jump sideways. If you mess up the jump you will get double hit by both hitboxes and insta die. Would highly recommend not doing that. Rolling is so much easier

Just call out torrent at the last second as you get a large i-frame, head back to your summons so he agros on your summon and then whoop him

I killed Mesmer on 5th try, but Gaius, first try without summon, got 4 critical hits on Gaius, think he is weak to stagger

Died to Messer at least 10-15 times. Gaius first try. Just guarded almost all of his attack with the shield. And used sacred blade ashes of war since he has weakness to holy.

Good strat for gaius is when you do the wall cheese use mohgs spear ash of war at an angle facing the wall and not the corner, this tricks his a.i into wanting to run more because youre "close to him" and if he gets out the corner, reset the loop and go back in the corner. Works a little better with mimic to keep him in those corners longer

THE solution is to use the Greatshield Soldier Ashes. They create a defensive wall you can hide behind, and cast spells or ranged attacks and absolutely demolish him easily. That is THE ANSWER. After being killed 50 times in a row, I went and got those ashes (in Nokron, super easy to find), and level them up to +10. Then summon them, hide behind the wall and cast spells or any ranged attack you can. I won in 30 seconds with this method.

I did your strategy against Gaius with my sorcerer build and I spammed Zamor Ice Storm with the Engraved Divine Beast Talisman. Easiest fight I’ve had against him.

Gaius is vulnerable to holy damage, and takes more damage from strike than other physical damage types, so a big hammer with sacred blade and the flask tear for extra holy damage will get him done. Also, even though the wiki says he's resistant to bleed, if you're a true bleed build then you'll shred him.

For anyone struggling with Gaius. Stay close and dodge at an angle forward left or right. Once that part is done fight pretty straight forward. Boar and gaius seem to have different ai so charges will target you even though he has targeted summon.

You can fight the tree sentinels one at a time. Just run past the first a decent ways (probably a bit past the 2nd.) The first will lose aggro, then beat the one that hasn't lost aggro and your mimic won't despawn after beating it.

Was Commander Gaius’s hit boxes adjusted at all or did they only take the charge in the beginning away? Because I didn’t find any of his attacks hard to dodge once I took the time to learn them. Up until this point of the walkthrough he’s been my favorite boss to fight so far. I’ve been playing without spirit ashes though so maybe it’s one of those instances where you need to have his attention.

Took me 5 attempts to beat Gaius (solo, no assistance called in) and it’s all because I buffed up my defense and fire attacks. Blasphemous Blade and particularly Taker’s Flames was doing around 4000+ damage and smashed through his vitality. Just took me a few attempts to nail the windows to allow Taker’s Flame to be able to be used.

Word of advice, if your summon has agro and you’re a faith build, get close and use ancient dragons lighting strike, does massive damage as even a single bolt will hit multiple times as it spreads out, hit him with multiple and that’s a quarter of his health already

I beat commander gais on my 3rd try using barricade shield and verdigris armor. Most of his damage is surprisingly physical, when he goes in the air just get on torrent like cowboy first did and let mimic assist with the clean up. Great vid as usual Cowboy

I tend to do better against bosses when I accidentally stumble into their arenas. When I hear Cowboy mention that a boss is considered hard by the community, I get scared and timid and do worse. Sometimes I give an opponent too much respect and make things worse on myself

I used the greatsword with the giants hunt. It seems to work pretty good. I did use the corner for help and buffed up as much damage as I thought I could get

I only died to him once, the fight caught me off guard at first, the second time around I had my Mimic use Maliketh's Black Blade and I used Blasphemer's Blade and he went down pretty quickly.

things i noticed in the fight 1 if you hit Gaius directly and on the head you deal massively extra damage 2 if your a spell caster fight him on horseback and just play range the only thing you have to worry about then is the drill and for that get off torent then right as hes about to hit get back on and you evade the entire attack and aoe. if your on the ground roll into it and then immediately roll again backwards so roll in roll out good luck though as its picky but with that youll still likely only get hit once. for his charge you really really gotta wait and then if your mid roll or higher roll straight left. 2 stay on his right as much as possible this will force him to shift he can not attack you with his gravity or his sword if your on his right. he will try and quick shift the boar to charge you with a head rush but simply roll 2 times once in the way the boars tusks are coming at you and again into as as close to his side as you can and you should be able to dodge his sword swing. in general though he sucks cause his hitboxes are utterly massive or are him and the entire boar for the attack. another trick is timing your torrent mounts when he charges that and keeping him in the corner as much as you can really helps.

I have an arcane build so I pulled out Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear and bingo.....he went down on the first try. I used the wall tactics and it worked great.....my summons died just before he did. Haven't used that weapon till now because i've been trying all the new stuff.

Mohgwyn's sacred spear is op bro, I have killed all the bosses with this weapon 😂, just spam aow when enemy is staggered and fight behind shield like a spartan, this strategy made me kill most of the bosses, haven't fought consort Radahn but will try there too

Beat him in 7 tries without summons, many close calls before the 7th attempt but by that attempt i got used to his moveset and only had to drink 1 flask, poggers.

I didn’t have much trouble with the boss. Beat it second try. Use a two handed weapon with cragblade and you can stagger with jumping heavies. When he does the spiral attack just run away. You don’t even have to dodge, it’s pretty straightforward fight. You should obviously use the dragon crest talisman to reduce the physical damage.

this guy was a pain. i ended up using carian thruster(barricade with blood buildup affinity)and offhand regal scepter. only had rani moon spell memorized mimic spammed moons while i face tanked/poked with counter thrusts finally worked after a good freeze/bleed/ and double stance break 😅 barricade made it so i didnt have to dodge the charges hope this helps someone lol

Did not know the corner gaius trick, when i tried this on my own i failed miserably and did not give it another go, straight out ate the first charged damage trying to dodge it whilst getting mimic out. Refreshing to see the deaths though lol

When I fought the boar first time I noticed guts greatsword out in the field so I pulled out my guts heavy greatsword +25 with stamp (upward cut) ash of war… (I’m not sure if it change or what happened but I had took off ash of war stamp and put something else on to try out then went back to stamp and it was not the same as before. Apparently it is giant hunt ash of war now…)and I’d recommend heavy fingerprint stone shield +25. Talismans used were: erdtrees favor 2, dragoncrest greatshield, bull-goats, and great-jars arsenal. Let mimic get his Agro and just use the ash of war on guts greatsword. Doing this will allow you to get a crit after 2-4 of them successfully. The wondrous physick was opaline bubbletear and strength knot. I also use boiled crab for extra damage negation

Something I found about Tree Sents. If you start from Hinterland bridge, and summon there Your mimic stays out for both if you move close enough to see the second one, but not engage him.

My advice is keep to his side, he will do less and less charging move, and you just need to roll through his other moves which not that hard to evade

With Gaius I used dragon rot breath and my mimic did the same and while he was in the corner. Rot stuff works wonders on him and depletes his health faster.

staff of loss + night comet. use dung eater as summon who'll take all the aggro. with this build you can do most bosses in 1st try.

For anyone fighting Gaius after the new patch. Now he does not spawn infront. He always comes running from the side as the first time you face him. So the side wall tactic is hard to pull off. I wasn't able to do it. But using bonk weapons still works. He is weak to holy. I was able to beat him with great stars and lions claw AOW set to sacred. I equipped physical and non physical damage negation charms since he is so hard to dodge then just look for openings to use lions claw. I'd suggest to stay as close to him as possible so he is unable to do the gravity thrust and stone attacks. You can easily dodge the boar attacks when you use lions claw. When he reaches second phase, he will never fly into the air if you stay close to him. Also if you immediately run towards him when he runs away to charge at you, he will not charge instead go for a sweep which you can counter with lions claw again. I was lucky enough to start his second phase with a critical hit. It takes 3 lions claw to knock him. I have been following these guides exactly so am the same scadutree level. Only my rune level is 220.

Killed him first try in 20 s.: -Use the Greatshield soldier Ashes - the 5 dudes take all the aggro -Use Relic Sword + Shard of Alexander + Sacred Scorpion Charm + Carian Filigreed Crest -Holy cracked tear + opaline tear -Golden Vow Spam wave of gold from a save distance… I only got hit once Got the tip to take the 5 dude ashes from another comment, works like a charm

I don't care if you took the tip from another comment, I'll thank anyone that posts this! It worked first try, after every other hint I used failed. Didn't even need the talismans/tears/vow. I just summoned the Solder Ashes, stood back, and spammed the Relic Sword's power.

What I did for the 2 tree sentinels was summon mimic, wait for the farther one to go down the path. Then I aggroed the one around the corner up the hill and beat him first. Of course, you lost mimic after. Then I just pummeled the other one. No need to fight both at the same time. Sure, you keep your summon. But this strategy worked for me. Plus, we just upgraded to 15 scadutree blessings. Bloodhound's fang charged r2's were critting tf outta ol tree helmy.

In my first playthrough I just assumed it would be used at some point and kept using it every time I found a statue

The fight with the commander is so much easier if you mount. You can jump over or outrun most of his attacks.

Really struggled with him using the new weapons, then went back to my favourite (Eleonora's Poleblade) he went down in about 10 seconds.

You can cheese if you want to by using rellanas twin moon spell while in corner if mimic is fighting.

I feel like they patched it so you can't fight in the corner anymore but I found it more forgiving on dodges in the field. Only took me like 10 tries and I beat him. It was pretty tough though

The Ghiza's wheel work well for this boss. For a fast multi-hit with bleed.

For commander i just blocked his attack with stone finger shield and spammed moghs weapon skill when there was an opening, killed in first try.

Beat Commander Gaius is approx. 20 seconds using Mimic summons both carrying Qeelign's Sacred Greatsword w/ Sacred Blade ash of war. Unbelievably easy.

Pig boy only took three tries, while the shadow sunflower boss took… an hour of tries. 😂 Great shields can tank most of his charges. Rolling out of his gravity works. Bonked him with a hammer when close, or multilayered rings of light when he was going for the mimic. Good luck!

Don't know how I managed because he tossed me around the battlefield like one of the three stooges, but here's my setup. I got him on my second try: I dressed like Radahn and I put Waves of Darkness on my Great Stars, at Heavy affinity. My talismans in order were the Blessed Blue Dew Talisman (Honestly I don't think this contributed to anything, I just forgot to take it off), Dragoncrest Greatshield, Erdtree's Favor +2, and Pearldrake Talisman +3. The only spell I managed to hit him with was pest threads but tbh he moves so fast and is so obnoxious I don't think it's worth it. Mimic did most if not all the work with the ash of war. Almost forgot to mention, my Wondrous Physick had the Stonebarb Cracked Tear (I don't think he staggered once, though) and the Glovewort Crystal Tear in it, which explains why mimic was able to get the last hit while I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. I hope this helps. Thank God it's over.

A method that I used was similar to the strat for 4 Kings. Wore some heavy armor. Put on the fingerprint shield and a giant crusher to get through this guy
