For a ranged attack that costs no fp, the charged R2 is actually pretty strong too. The R1 comes a bit slow for my taste, like all other heavy spears, but if I want faster short range option I go Catch Flame, since I'm already building for fire damage

@@sPaCe_NiNjA187 rellanas weapons don’t give the buff that hers give tho and elden beasts weapon is actually one of the only weapons that is better than when elden beast uses it it hits a much wider area. But I mean there are very few boss weapons across fromsoft games that actually are on par with what the boss does.

They had the opportunity to make its weapon art a stance from which R1 would do long range combo swings and R2 would do the chargeable drill, and my disappointment when I found out it can _only_ do the drill was immeasurable and my day was ruined.

Dude chase mentioned how the lock on never locks onto who you need it to, and he is so SO right. Literally, if there is more than 1 target within 100 m of me, the game will lock onto anything other than the target I want it to. If I try to trick it by locking onto something I dont really want to, well, then of course it locks perfectly onto that thing. It can't lock onto the scary field boss directly in my face, but it certainly can lock onto a squirrel 300 yards directly behind me. Sheesh!

Back in the ds games i would lock on to see the enemies.. here whenever i am in the open field, the lock on goes mad crazy going for the random deer, random squirrel throwing my camera all freaking crazy. If only they learned from monster hunter where you can turn off critter lock on off

I recommend checking out the death knight weapons (especially the longhafted axe) the first part of the ash of war seems to give you some i-frames on top of getting you close to the enemy

Messmer's AoW really tells you all you need to know about who the real anime antagonist of SotE was Miquella and surprise Radahn were the secret hidden boss after the protagonist overcame the antagonist (who turned out to be not so bad), but Messmer was that guy and damn was he cool Holy lord, that first invasion was the worst. Infinite deathspear rituals and scarlet rot dragonbreath. Honestly they would've fully deserved a bagging, you're more polite than I would've been and I consider myself a pretty polite invader

Well, then you have strong possibility to roll into another attack and have to roll chain, which is not ideal. When you roll away most of the time you will make distance and be safe. Anyways, I am talking about the base game. idk about pvp

This build is super fun with messmers orb and flame serpent. From what I can tell if the flame serpent hits and you cast a no charge messmer orb immediately after it true combos. Makes for really good neutral pressure.

I really love the throwing implementation of this weapon, if someone is dragon breathing or uses a spell but you can’t quite close the distance you just Yeet this bad boi and u can just knock them down. Plus it’s got a sick AOW

IMO it needs a buff. It has too many negatives, No Poise/Stance Damage, Damage Falloff, insane stamina consumption. They need to buff 2/3 of these things to make it worthwhile imo.
