Shard of Alexander is a must have for the second playthrough this is my second one where I wanna 100% percent the game

Just a tip for others playing. At around the 24:00 mark in the video when you encounter the marionette guys you will notice there are 2 balloons floating in the sky that have kind of a blueish hue on them. If you shoot them (They only take one hit to pop, using a bow, ranged magic, or even crafting a basic bone throwing dart works too) Anyway when you pop them they are a one time thing that will give you a golden rune (6) which is worth 2000 runes (Added bonus is you get it put directly into your inventory so you don't have to go collect it from the ground). So taking a second to throw or shoot something at them will get you 4000 runes for your time at that location. Also later on there are like at least a half dozen floating over the lake itself. These will have 2-3 marionette guys hanging from them. Once again target the balloon (not the marionette guys hanging from it) and any hit will pop it instantly dropping the guys. If you are at a distance the marionette guys won't even aggro you and you'll pick up another golden rune (6) for each one plus as an added bonus they don't re-spawn so you eliminate the chance of having a marionette group drop on you if you aren't paying attention in the future as they don't re-spawn later. Basically by doing this you'll end up netting about 8 or so golden rune (6) which is a nice 16000 or so runes that you can spend and use whenever you want and you no longer have to worry about marionettes falling down on you from the balloons once you've destroyed them as the marionette guys will de-spawn the next time you rest and never come back or you can always practice killing them as you will encounter them later in the game sometimes in close quarters and it is nice to learn how they erratically flail around or go crazy shooting arrows depending on which type of marionette you get.

Interesting, I actually didn’t know that. I found a balloon and popped it in a later episode, but I always thought that one was unique in giving a golden rune (6) for some reason. Never tested it with any others because I hate the marionette haha

At around 47:25 you can see some of those extra balloons floating off to the left (that was when I wandered from the videos path to grab those extra golden runes). There may be other balloons over the lake and even later in the game (can't remember off the top of my head but I feel like there are more later on somewhere as there are definitely more marionette guys throughout the game).

@cbdejavu yeah the one I knew about is over the lake near gate town bridge. I think there are also some in range of the glintstone dragon because I recall them getting involved in that fight the first time I played the game

I can’t talk to iji about blaidd. I assumed I didn’t exhaust his dialogue after beating the forlorn hound so I went back there and he’s gone. Not sure what to do

Yeah I’m guessing you just didn’t quite exhaust his dialogue but the good news is you’re probably only missing out on the somber smithing stone 2. Blaidd’s quest should just keep moving along automatically and you’ll be able to speak to him again after caria manor in a couple episodes. You should also be able to buy the carian filigreed talisman from iji a bit later too after you speak to all of ranni’s servants in that same episode. Truthfully there are a ton of bits of dialogue that aren’t explicitly required for quest progression in this game, but I was losing my mind trying to sort every step into: required, technically required but can be skipped by doing xyz, optional, probably optional but you should do it anyway….etc., so I just threw every possible step into the guide. You should be good with Blaidd still though.
