The voice acting in this small piece is amazing. The smallest inflections, such as when after "These are the final days of the Third Era...", there's an intake of breath, a pause "...and the final hours of my life." Nah, kinda shit really. "Hey you, you're finally awake" as you wake up in skyrim being escorted to your execution only to be interpreted by the coming of the dragons, and the world eater himself, is indeed far better.
@Bauglir100
@Bauglir100 2 жыл бұрын
@@celphalonred1999 Yeah, but Skyrim's opening is not worth experiencing every goddamn time you start a new game. At least in Oblivion, you can skip the intro video and go straight to the character creation part. Skyrim takes three and a half unskippable minutes before you get off the wagon to get to the character creation section, and then you have to go through the whole execution sequence, and then you have to run to the keep and fight your way through the entire tutorial dungeon to get out of Helgen. And unlike Oblivion and Fallout 3, you don't get the option to change the character you created one more time right before you go out into the world for the first time, which would've saved you the trouble of having to go through the dungeon all over again. So you have no choice but to experience that grand opening over and over every single time you want to create a new character. And with all the re-releases and ports Skyrim has received, you're going to be seeing that grand opening a lot. So most people are basically sick of it by now, and it's become a joke over the years.
@hobomike6935
@hobomike6935 2 жыл бұрын
"hey, YOU. you're finally awake" has charm in it's own way. the problem with this game's intro is it makes the imperial city seem so big and bad@$$, it's almost misleading since the actual imperial city is way smaller once you get to start up the game and explore it with your character. you can, of course, mod the game to fix this, but I just remember skyrim living up to how big it's world seemed to be compared to oblivion, which just felt a little smaller than I had hoped :(

No matter how many times I listen to this, I still get goosebumps as the music rises around the White Tower. This is by far the best music in the series thus far, even beating out the awesome chanting of the Nords in Skyrim.

The 2000's were the absolute BEST years to be a teenager if you loved video games. We had Halo CE, 2, and 3, Starwars Battlefront 1 and 2, Halflife 2, Oblivion, Bioshock, Mercenaries, and MW 1 and 2 just to name a few. There has never been a better time for truly legendary games since then, and I truly stand by that.

Behold in Chaos, a barbarian substant future *Alaric, Marthin Luther, Marx, Wilhelm II, Adolf Hitler* This is the 19th of August, the year of Romulus, 767. This opening makes tears of nostalgia run down my face. I still remember playing this game every waking moment I got on 360 at my grandparents house as kid. It kinda sucks we live in the timeline where Skyrim got a million re-releases/remasters over the years and Oblivion can't get one.

This is a masterwork intro. The music plays a main role here. A total hit. Pitty it doesn't last longer. Actually this is one of the best games' soundtrack IMHO. The main themes are all in the intro, you can barely hear the initial arpegio, that will be used afterwards... I also love the Battle theme 5, very strong!

You couldn't make a movie out of Oblivion, a TV series? Probably, but a movie? You wouldn't be able to cover a fraction of the game, and what would be the point then?

This game had a lot of acting talent. Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Terrance Stamp, Lynda Carter, Wes Johnson and Jeff Baker. When you have Captain Picard, 006, Wonder Woman, Sheogorath, Saint Juib and Mother Fucking Zod in your cast, you know you have an epic story to tell.

It's a bit of an awkward one this one. The bit where the camera swoops across the basin towards the city is the bit where I get a little teary eyed, and that's before the dramatic awesomeness starts. I can't tell whether as a dude I'm just being a bit odd, or whether I'm witnessing a crowning moment of awesome :).
