My brother rarely plays with me, but this is one of the few games he asks to play consistently. Such a fun puzzle and so thematic with plenty of luck to keep it interesting. I think people miss a lot when they don’t take time to read the flavour text and get immersed in the theme. Would love to see more of this on the channel 😊

This is my absolute all-time favorite game. It is a lot but I do have all expansions! There's some really cool storage solutions for everything that I have yet to get. I'm talking about the massive crate that holds everything!

1:33:34 If Tokyo is a devastated space, you shouldn't be able to grab a travel ticket from that space, since it doesn't count as a city space.

I like to build the mythos deck a bit more randomized, so that you don't know when easy or hard mythos cards will come up. I usually take 1 easy and 1 hard each of yellow and green and use mostly normal ones for the rest. For the blue ones I draw them randomly but avoid getting 2 hard or 2 easy ones. You could also compensate an easy blue with one more hard green or yellow maybe, depending on how difficult you want the game to be. But the hard ones can be really really mean, so I can't recommend including too many of those.

My fave game. I still play it solo when the opportunity arises. I have incorporated elements intended to cut down on the set up and put away time like the two apps card clerk and eldritch horror. Love watching playthroughs to enhance my play sessions. I almost never win a game but do an almost completely random set up including investigators.

Yes! Forbidden lore and city of ruin are my two favorite. Forbidden gives you more of everything and city of ruin gives the destruction mechanic!

Nice one Colin, one of my favorite games of all time. Just a clarification, you can only buy ship and rail tickets in city spaces (maybe you clarify this later on), Ursula wouldn't have been able to take that action in the Pyramids. Perchance a passing Bedouin had a spare one.

Thanks Colin. I love playing this game and, equally, watching others playing it. Your channel is one of my favourite. I suggest that you reverse the difficulty of the mythos deck. Like a 50-50 hard and normal at the top and 50-50 easy and normal at the bottom. You have done a couple of rules errors I think. When an investigator gets a condition during reckoning, they don’t resolve the text during that reckoning. Also, when a monster ambushes, I don’t think you can put it on the card that says put the monster on this card when you defeat a monster during combat.

The series of Arkham Horror games from FFG is the stuff of legends. Some of the best games in the history of board and card games. They are timeless.

Awesome to see a playthrough with all the small box expansions. I like the mythos deck "ramping up" idea. Small thing: you can only take tickets on cities, so I think the ticket taking in the pyramids at the beginning may not be allowed. No ticket booths in the pyramids in the 1920s I guess!

One other thing at 44:30. The will test that you failed should not have been performed as on my understanding reckoning effects don't chain; the madness card came out during the reckoning itself so it's own effect would not trigger until the next reckoning. At least that is how I read it in the rules ref.

Also my favourite game, I've got all expansions, Arkham dice, custom dashboards and tokens all set up at the moment. I use a 60/ 40 mix of standard mythos cards and random easy/hard .

FYI, you are considered to have passed a test if you roll at least 1 success. This is true even for tests where you want more than 1 success (combat, acquire assets, spells, etc.). So, you did pass the willpower test against the ambushing Elder Thing even though you want 3 successes to avoid sanity loss. However, you should have also done the fight test as you do both parts of combat when ambushed.

@@OneStopCoopShop Round 7 at around 1 hr 12 min mark. Also, I noticed later in round 8 that you spent 1 action to stand Lily up from being delayed and then took a second action. Delayed is worse than that. You lose all actions (even if another character tries to give you an action) and instead just stand up. This happens around 1 hr 23 min mark.

When a character is using a spell or anything that requires flipping the card, if there are more available in the deck, I always switch it out. This rule is from mansions of madness and I like it a lot to keep things fresh so I am doing it for eldritch horror too. Especially with spells it simulates the unknown side-effect of what's going to happen once you cast it. Try it!

At 1:13:46 you only discard Martial Prowess you decide NOT to gain an Injury. Since you did gain an Injury you did not have to discard Martial Prowess. The Injury is the cost of keeping it.

All those Illness Conditions! There were so many I came down with the flu watching. Must have been an internet virus! lol Thanks Colin, that was indeed great fun. I just go with the luck of the draw. As said that can be brutal at the start if you get a nasty Mythos Card. Don't mind too much as it's all part of the narrative. I say rude things at the time though! 🤬 lol

In the later expansions there is a staged mythos variant. Using this, you use easy cards for stage 1, regular for stage 2, and hard for stage 3. I always play with this variant (and often with the official sub-variant of a starting easy rumor and regular/hard rumors in stage 1 and 2 to make it just a little harder to compensate). The main reason I use this variant is the game becomes a complete waste of time and not fun at all if you get smacked around by hard cards in the first couple of rounds before you have a chance to build-up your investigators. I like the feeling of the building difficulty as the OO gets closer to awakening. It definitely makes the game easier overall, but the starting rumor variant mentioned above mostly balances this out. The game is also much harder (numbers round up) at odd player counts unless you use the alternate player scaling cards in the official FAQ.

24:47 one thing i have to ask, the easy mythos cards are usually referred to as snowflake cards in virtually all playthrough vids Ive seen, is that just a mistake someone made when posting a playthrough vid that caught on, or does everyone not realise the symbol is a derivitaitve version of the elder sign emblem? (The wonky 5-pointed star)

Going to book this one, grab a six pack of beer, and settle in to watch it. Is the storage solution from Laserox? Because that box alone makes me want to get into EH more...it looks fancy! I'm currently trying to show restraint with this game until I get a bit bigger table to play on. Even with a card hold er, this game is a massive table hog for me.

@@OneStopCoopShop IIRC the Icon reference for 3 and 4 characters were identical, which was disadvantageous when playing with 3 characters. Nice draw with the 1st Mythos Card. I always seem to pull a blooming Rumour card out of the deck first up! lol Good first round, hope it continues!

The prelude in the beginning allowed the lead investigator to start on the space with the adventure token or Miskatonic Outpost. The space with the adventure token was Sydney, as that is where your adventure is. You placed Ursula on the Expedition space. Expeditions are not adventures.

I really enjoy your videos but you need to pay more attention to what you read. You scan the cards too quickly and make a ton of little mistakes. at 1:12:50 you could either take an injury or discard the card, not both!
