I think the first was Runebound + Unbreakable Bonds. Your joy and enthusiasm are infectious. You are a delight and a treasure for this community. Thank you, Colin, for the time, energy, blood, sweat, and tears you put into these videos. You are helping people like me, who love games but sometimes feel overwhelmed, have fun and fulfilment with our unique subsection of this great hobby. Bravo!

EH is one of the best games FFG ever done.

I really disliked my play off this game when we tried it with 4 players. I felt like my turns were boring and didn't matter. That being said, and seeing your playthrough, I could totally see myself playing this thing solo. With *you* controlling everything, it really keeps you engaged, and you feel like you're doing more. The setup time is attrocious, super fiddly, not enough dice, components won't fit in any table, is super long... It's my favorite board game ever! I like it better with only two investigators.

Anyone got cool custom rules? 1. Combat encounters- encounter an enemy on your space, test for sanity/stamina as usual, encounter successive enemies. Repeat process until you are defeated, all enemies are defeated, or you opt to disengage. This helps keep combat from being split up over multiple rounds. 2. Evade- Any time a player would engage an enemy in a combat encounter, you may test your agility. If you succeed against every enemy (not counting elites), you may encounter the location as though there are no enemies on it. If you fail, take the sanity/stamina loss as though you failed a combat roll, then continue evading or fighting each enemy on your space. 3. Money- any player on a city space may use an action to test their influence. If they succeed they get a resource which can be used as a success while testing to acquire an item. Money can also be used during rest actions to add one additional stamina or sanity at the rate of 1 point per 1 dollar. Players can carry no more than 5 money. 4.Human enemies- any enemy who is characterized as “human” and on a city space with no investigator can remove 1 damage it has received from an investigator. If this occurs, place 1 resource/money token on the enemy. The player who defeats them gains this resource as a reward.

Oh man this is a treat...2 weeks ago Mike released a video saying that EH is no longer on his board games shelf and that got me sad...so happy to see a playthrough in here.

As of Sept 2019 EH is the greatest solo/co-op game around. The deceptively simple, enjoyable and tense gameplay and wealth of stories generated are unmatched in the genre (imho of course). The reason I qualified this with a date is because Marvel Champions comes out next month...hahahaha. Happy you ended up discovering this despite your misgivings Colin! (PS I think 3 investigators is the perfect number)

EH is also in my top ten and I also never cared for AH. I've bought all the "small" expansions to get more cards, but never the ones that add more boards. I've already so much content to play with!

I really hope they reprint the small expansions, i barely got Forsaken Lore and Ruined Cities as last pieces and now all the retailers in my country only have the big box expansions. I really want to get Strange Remnants but i would have to pay shipping to where its almost at a big box price :(

Great play through. My group plays this pretty often. I have most of the small box expansions. I am debating about which big box to get. The debate is between Dreamlands and Under the Pyramids.

EH is amazing game.. AH third edition not bad… but EH is, much much better!

Eldritch Horror was the game that got me back into gaming as an adult, when a friend brought it over and taught seven of us the peculiar joys of watching the world devoured. And yet it's also great as a solo experience. Even if it's a bit globe-hoppy and over-fighty for some Lovecraft purists, I love the blend of the ridiculous and the gruesome it pulls off. Agreed that its far superior to AH in any of its three incarnations.

love this game. this has made me get thos to the table this weekend as not played it in ages. cheers colin! you should defo get the arkham dice for it for curse, bless and normal rolls. adds some bling to the game and have eldritch signs on the test results for passes. i also found that i enjoyed the smaller expansions more than the extra board expansions so look into those first as i got the lot. only have under the pyramids big box expansion tho as i like the theme. cheers for the playthrough mate 👍

I hate to be that guys, but at 20:05, you couldn't have used Norman's ability again, as it is restricted to only 1 use per round. Didn't matter, but you'd have one more sanity point, and that could be important xD Loving the playthrough though, good luck!

I know this is an older video but would you say it’s easier to play one character solo or multiple investigators as a solo player? Love the play though and your enthusiasm about this game convinced me to buy it also. Hoping for more!

This in my top 3 solo games. I always play with 4 investigators too. The game seems to work best that way. I don't like it non-solo as there will inevitably be players not playing optimally because of their attachment to their character. And as you mentioned, missing turns is horribly not fun. You probably fixed this alteady but youre using the expidition token where you should be using the adventure token ;)

Hi Colin, great playthrough of a great game. In the first round did you use 2 sanity to use as a clue for the astrominst? I thought it was only allowed once per round?

On the Mythos card, you had a monster surge. Shouldn't you have spawned 2 monsters or did I miss that?
