"In a surprising turn of events, BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal clinched victory in Gujarat's Surat constituency without a single vote cast in his favor, as all other contenders withdrew following the rejection of Congress nominee Nilesh Kumbhani's nomination. The Congress party, facing setbacks, opted for a strategic move, urging voters to choose the 'None Of The Above' (NOTA) option, drawing criticism from the ruling BJP for perceived negative campaigning.
Adding to the drama, Congress suffered another blow as its candidate, Akshay Kanti Bam, defected to the BJP on the last day of withdrawal, shifting the dynamics in the race against BJP's sitting MP Shankar Lalwani. Bam's decision was hailed by BJP leaders, emphasizing his alignment with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Scroll reports, a controversy erupted in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, with the cancellation of Samajwadi Party candidate Meera Yadav's nomination from Khajuraho."
