Why do electric motor lost torque at high rpm? Can we put gearbox to maintain it in powerband? Plz explain differet types of motors with their torque and rpm curves.

Because at high rpm you reach close to synchronous speed due to which less force act on armature hence less torque You could check torque vs speed graph and equation for more knowledge.

depends on the motor and control and its not like in this case in motor is losing torque its like its maxed out they can put more powerful motor but it will reduce range and increase cost so for them this motor was best compromise

I am using Reva electric car for last 8 years. This is the only electric car designed/manufactured 100% in India way back in year 2000. This was ahead of time. it is Very popular in Bangalore. People are ready to buy even 2nd hand as Mahindra bought this company and replace this with Junk e2o car (Chinese quality). Indians can make and design good car as Reva but Indian people should support Indian product of qood quality , even though it can be bit expensive. I bought 2nd hand car in 2013 .This car works in all road condition. Many time i have driven it through big pits and large stones. Very reliable and robust. This car is very small and excellent for Traffic condition. Gives 70 Km per charge with Lead-acid battery ( 6 hours charging) . 70 km is good enough for 2-3 days in city condition. I last 8 years my car has never stuck on road due to discharging. Our 90 % commute in a year is within city (max 40-50 km per day). why we need Car with 200-300 km range. If u want to go out of city then hier a taxi. I think if Reva type of Form factor can be Polished and design to appeal office-goers/college goers with li-ion ( or continue with Lead-acid) , 100 km range and all advance electronic features prized at ~5 lakh then it will be real boost to Electric vehicle.
