Electric Blue Acara Tank Setup Guide

Electric Blue Acara tank setup should include adequate aquarium space for them to grow. These fish are from South America so they’re going to like dark water scenarios. If you can get yourself some big pieces of driftwood and try to mimic the Amazon river for them that’s going to be best.
I would advise a 30 gallon aquarium at minimum. These fish can grow anywhere from 4 to 6 inches long so they’re going to need at least 3 feet in length of a span of your fish tank. In a long-term scenario I would advise you using a 55 gallon aquarium at minimum.

When it comes to feeding the electric Acara, Use a high-quality pellet food mixed with live foods as a treat. Some live foods may include black worms, raw shrimp cut up, or mysis shrimp.
These fish need a heated aquarium so figure on needing five whites for every 1 gallon of aquarium water. This is the power that you’re going to need to heat your aquarium to the adequate tropical temperatures. On average your aquarium should be heated to 78°F to 82°F.

i hate a mated pair that jusy had babies about a month ago. I had to take the make out as he was attacking the female. When will i be able to put them back together?

Hey Chris, I have two EBA/ green terror hybrids from a spawn I had last summer. So far they look like a green terror with an acara body. Already showing great color at 2 inches

Hi There. I have a 66 gal Fluval tank. Actually I have 2 of them, not set up yet. I am thinking of doing a South American Cichlid tank in one of my 66gal tanks. I like the Green terror, Blue Acara, Jack Dempsey etc. But what would you recommend, in what types I should go with and how many in a 66 gal. thanks

Did they ever eat the guppies? asking because im thinking of doing the same thing . Was also thinking id add endlers instead of the fancies because I feel like they're a little faster and probably harder for them to notice. Thanks in advanced

I kept electric blue acara many times and never had success with them, but I am keeping blue acara and zebra acara, love EBA but prone to issues with my experience

Something I’ve noticed, EBA’s are very prone to jumping. With their cost per fish I’m always making sure the tanks are covered well.

I am just learning about the Electric Blue Acaras. Great Review. I have question... is it better to get a tall tank like a 40G Tall or a standard 40G long. Someone I know will give me their 40G tall with water filter and light.

Everything I've read says long is better. Mine (2) are going in my 37g which is tall so I'm wondering the same. It may be just another excuse to buy a new tank. Lol

WOW, I lover you setup. I have been boiling my brain about adding a shelf or rack for a 4' tank in my entertainment space. But all that said Koi Kompanion doesn't seem worthwhile. I thought Aquahuna was hard on my poor little wallet. It seems like the only deal you get is to buy in bulk given the "free" shipping. $50 for 3 or my local big box for about the same price and ask nicely and get 10-50% off and the 14 day policy. My local exotic aquarium store is more expensive but the breeder is said to be local and offer a 14 day policy also. What is K.K.s policy like?

Hey, just added two electric blue to a 40 gallon community (angels, cories). Been three days so far so good. They are a bit bigger than the largest cory. Not sure if they are both male. Look forward to your acara videos. My acaras will grow faster than yours cause I said so lol

My Blue Acara likes to flip over the leaves that I put in there. They might uproot a stem plant or two along the way but I wouldn't call them a digger.

Great video, Thanks. I have 4 blue acaras, I was lucky and I got a pair. They mated 4 times before the female worked it out and I have in another tank fry and mum. So yeah I was just wondering what else I could put in my 40 gallon for decoration. I have a bit of driftwood and a little bit of planting. I'm quite new only started this hobby half a year ago and already have three aquariums. The other aquarium I have a pair of convicts. They are very horny fish, like rabbits. Anyway good to see how many aquariums you have. Ha ha.
