Hello,
This video shows how to upgrade from a clutch style fan to a dual electric fan setup. The vehicle shown in the video is a 1995 Ford Bronco, but this process will be similar to most other cars/trucks. Benefits of this upgrade are, less drag on engine resulting in slightly improved MPGs and throttle response, and cosmetic improvement.

This was one of the first upgrades I did to my truck, I wanted to thoroughly test these components before I installed them on my wife's truck and to recommend them to anyone as I do know there are alot of choices out there for aluminum radiators and electric fans. I've had these installed on my truck for 3 years and I am located in a desert climate, so far so good!
@FahrenheitMetalworks
@FahrenheitMetalworks 7 ай бұрын
What size radiator are you using these on? I upgraded my radiator from the original factory one to an aluminum three core one and the electric fans I had wouldn't pull through the bigger radiator plus my remote trans cooler.
@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 7 ай бұрын
@@FahrenheitMetalworks I use a 2 row on both trucks with 1” tubes. You need high CFM fans, also you can mount the trans cooler under the oil pan (where the original one mounts, if it fits). If you need more cooling a high flow water pump and thermostat will help.

I love working on these old things. I just got my transmission issue taken care of on my 91. Turns out the tps was causing the transmission to shift out of time and real hard too. The old one tested good on the meter but it wasnt motorcraft. I dont know what black magic they do to their parts but motorcraft sensors are the only way to go on these old tubs.
@LordKenjii
@LordKenjii 7 ай бұрын
I have the same issue actually. I cant find a motor craft sensor so i found something else. After I drive past 60 the needle bounces all around. I’ll just have to live with it unfortunately. If you ever find a solution please let me know.

@LordKenjii I got my sensor from rock auto. And as for your needle have you checked the speedo cable and the vss?
@LordKenjii
@LordKenjii 7 ай бұрын
@@NeonFlaming0 I think it is the VSS, thats the sensor thats in the rear diff right? Thats the sensor I had changed when I had the diff rebuilt. I tried replacing it with the stock sensor but it did a lot of early or late gear shifting
@NeonFlaming0
@NeonFlaming0 7 ай бұрын
@LordKenjii some models use the abs sensor in the diff for speed and shift times. Others use a sensor on the tail shift of the transmission/transfercase depending on whatever motor/tranny you are running. My 91 E40D has the speed sensor tied to vss. It's a manual cable for the speedometer and an electrical signal for the Trans shift. Don't forget to double-check every vacuum line you have.

I was was having the same issue with my 91 f150. All you have to do is calibrate it to where it reads .96 volts at closed throttle. I had to drill the holes on the tps sensor a lil bigger because the duralast brand comes at .87 volts from the store.

Great video. I've watched them all, and done just about all of them on my 1996 F150. Thanks for everything as they have helped me out tremendously. I can't believe how mint your wife's Bronco is, it's a battle keeping things clean and running here in the NorthEast. Those crimp joints and wire tap wouldn't make it through the winter up here.2q

I had to go with electric fans on my LS swapped 85 Cutlass cuz of clearance issues. I thought i was lucky at the time to score a complete rad Shroud with dual fan setup for $100 cdn. It was new out of box. By time i added relays fuses and fusebox is was over 200 cdn. I went to the trouble of programming ECU for two come on temps. i think hi speed fan came on at 185F and additional low speed fan came on at 195. TURNS out unless you are just idling around in stop n go traffic the fans almost never even came on. ANY amt of air from just driving cooled engine well enough w/o ANY fans. if i had to do it again i would turn on low speed fan first as it was half the noise and probly good enough for most situations.

Thanks for the response on my 1st question!! One more question: so i purchased the all aluminum 3 row rad; and when moving my transmission fittings over,.....they are too big. Wont screw in. So does the transmission lines go straight into the aluminum rad?? Or do i need to hunt for smaller fittings??

@TheFixTech the rubber portions of my 3/8 coolant bypass hosing needs to be replaced, but as you know the hosing is permanently attached to the steel tubing (attached like a hydraulic line). Do you have any ideas on how to replace the rubber portion? Maybe cut off the part with the hydraulic-style fitting and just attach new 3/8 hose with a hose clamp? Thanks, love the video and plan to do the same electric fan on mine.

Yes, you can cut off the hose, flare the metal pipe and install a new hose with clamp.

@TheFixTech

Yes, since you can control when the fans turn on and at full speed. Be sure the rest of your cooling system is in good condition, even the heater core. Use a high flow low temp thermostat 160-180 degree if you need extra cooling.

@TheFixTech Can you please do a video on how to either replace the emissions parts on a 90-96 bronco or how to delete kit the emissions? I have a 91 bronco and my emissions canisters/ system is really nasty. There is a hard line that goes into the back of the block.
@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 4 ай бұрын
I have noticed to keep the stock engine running efficient and help MPGs it is better to keep the emissions system intact. Unless you are going strictly for performance. I would then recommend upgrading the head to one’s that don’t have the rear smog/air port. Deleting the erg system is easy but will require ecm tuning for best results.

Nice video, have you measured the CFM the new fans? I have a 1986 5.8 bronco myself and tried dual Mishimoto 12in race line fans. The advised 1800 CFM and did put out what they claimed. I found the stock fan pulls 5900 to 6000 CFM at 3000 RPM. So I'm Texas it was hard to have to go back to the stock fan since the electric fans looked great but couldn't best the stock air flow l.
@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 6 ай бұрын
The fans shown in this video pull 3400 cfm combined, which is good enough for the California desert where I am located. I’ve run the 1800 cfm fans with similar poor results, then I upgraded to these and difference is night and day. I can run the A/C on 110 degree days up a hill no problem. I do also recommend a high flow thermostat and good condition/quality radiator.

Nice tutorial. Did you happen to add up the total amp draw from the Cooling fan, Coil, Lights, AC clutch, Heater Fan, Stereo? Looks like, the factory alternator is 75- 80.
@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 7 ай бұрын
I originally had a 75 amp alternator on my truck and it ran everything well enough for a couple years until I decided to upgrade the alternator to a 3g 130 amp. I have a video showing my alternator upgrade tutorial. The shown fan controller soft starts the fans which reduces shock to the electrical system.
@NeonFlaming0
@NeonFlaming0 7 ай бұрын
In the winter time if you don't need your ac, you can unplug the compressor to reduce draw. These models run the compressor even if you are just using heat.

Awesome, great video I may try this to my truck. Question, in your opinion, would it make sense to run and taping it in the ECT sensor on the engine bock instead of taping it to the radiator?
@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 6 ай бұрын
The sensor is specifically calibrated to soft start the fans around 180 degree engine temp, the temp at the radiator outlet is cooler than the actual engine temp so in theory you can locate the sensor in different locations for different fan start times. I have tested this and found that near the radiator outlet as suggested to be satisfactory

Also, all my other games work perfectly fine in both 3DS's. Does this have to do with my SD card or other data, or is it any other reason?
